Good morning!

Everyday after sending the 2 elder kids to sch early in the morning, it is always a 'dream' to be able to sit down and clean up the library. But it is just tough.

However, today I tried my best to clear the mess on the donated books received. So this is how it has been eversince I gave birth end of last year.

So pls do pardon me if I take longer time to spring clean or if you see untidiness on the shelves. With a baby, things are just unpredictable 🤭

I've been receiving tonnes of donation n have yet to find the time to sort and screenthrough these as I've been unwell.

2 huge boxes of donation came in yesterday.
Apologies for the slight mess.

Perhaps I really need to 'hire' volunteer to help me out. Would anyone be interested even?

To those who visits the public library, you would know that such label belongs to their property.

Don't be surprise that there are such National Library books found in our library. And I will take time to ask my fellow ex-colleagues to check if this book belongs to any user. Thank you dear friends! ♥︎

In this case, this book is still reflected in the person's account. Imagine the horror of having to lose the book and pay the lost charges?

But pls note, I will try my best to spot them but don't expect me to scan through everything and not miss any of it.

There are many of such books but some are big book giveaways, discarded items that was 'sold' during the library events.

So, pls be careful not to mix your personal books with the national library books to avoid paying unnecessary fines (if overdue). Be a responsible reader.

Here's my morning finds as I try to look through and screen the donated books.

If you don't notice, I'm baby wearing my newborn and kneeling down doing this as the pile is on the floor and too heavy to carry it up to the shelf.

The point here is, the kind of 'books' I receive. I only managed to check 1/4 from the pile. It contains publication, magazines, activity books, sticker album. This is what I meant when donors do NOT filter it on their end and dump everything for me to sort the rest.

Since you know of the existence of this library, I do hope the donor is also aware of this FB page and will read this post.

Let's be responsible donors (the very least you can do).

This is how I start my Monday morning.

Waking up to see such mess at the library doesn't perk my morning.

Books meant for donation left at the wrong place despite posters indicating where to place such donations.

Socks and some others clothings received too despite a clear indication that we do not accept such due to hygiene purposes.

With that being said, I am removing 'Grabs' corner as it is taking too much of my time sorting, clearing your 'dumped' items. It is unfair for me to be wanting to do this for the benefit of the community but I am not getting a simple help from the community to just keep things tidy and READING posters that's provided.

Here's a gentle reminder.

As already stated here and also physically (I have posters pasted at the library), I do NOT accept textbooks, activity books or as such.

However, I am still receiving them here. I sincerely hope whoever that donates such books is reading this. I set some rules and criteria for a reason. So I do hope visitors respect and adhere to it.

On a separate note, if you're RETURNING the borrowed books, pls place it on the BLACK shelf and not anywhere else. I have visitors who just place it at ANY available shelf which most times doesn't fit the language or age group (eg: English books found in Tamil shelf).

Let's work together to ensure such don't happen (again).

The influx of donations received has been screen through and shelved.

Once again, may I repeat myself that we do NOT accept encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines. I am still receiving it along with some other collections.

Pls spare me the time and effort.
I have a newborn and 2 toddlers to care for back at home. Screening through all collections received do take some time and it would be good if you filter your collections before dropping it over.

The library is not a dumping space. And I'm not here to clear your unwanted collection that does not fit the criteria.
