A classic. ❤️
The repetition of dark wood laminates extend to the master bedroom. It’s evident in the chosen bed-frame, with its dark wood headboard. A white wardrobe ensures that the wood tones would not be overwhelming.
For the bathroom, black shower accessories and a thin black glass frame serve as the accent against the grey and wood tiles.
In the kitchen, a slimline hood was the preference to achieve that unobtrusive feel. The white quartz countertop complements the off-white laminate. A glass backsplash is the tell-tale for homeowners who prioritise ease of maintenance. And it makes sense, no more grimy grout lines. The rounded corner open display shelves utilizes a dark teak laminate. The idea was to have for them to be distinguished from the off-white cabinets. Besides a contrasting point of visual interest, it also serves as a coordination play with the other wood elements in the flat.
Repetition comes in the same dark teak laminate repeating on the other side for two rows of open shelves. You’ll notice the purposeful selection of the fridge colour. A black or grey fridge in place of the beige would be a combo-breaker.
This 90 sqm hdb bto unit at Choa Chu Kang was the fruition of bouncing and eliminating ideas with our designer. The young homeowners were not in favour of too much built-in storage. They wanted a clean aesthetic, and in this case it couldn’t be more apt for their lifestyle habits. Colour selection and coordination saw the lighter tones from a neutral palette chosen.
For the furniture curation and selection, dark wood laminate coffee table was paired with a grey fabric sofa. A narrow strip of dark wood fluted panel completes the feature wall as accent. The statement for the living room would be the matte-finished live edge suar wood table. Despite these instances of dark woods, they’re not exactly the same. Subtle nuances in the differing depths of these brown surfaces help avoid looking “over-matched”. What binds it all together is having the same reddish undertones to give off a warm appearance. And you’ll see that it all makes sense against the original vinyl flooring.
For this shoebox 2Rm hdb, the “no sharp edges rule” applies to everything. The cozy, patinated limewash coats the living area wall and serves as backdrop. A smooth curve replaced the original sharp angled corner to transition from living to bomb-shelter.
But perhaps the most indicative of the level of attention to detail was the curation.
A cream-coloured fabric two-seater sofa was chosen with consideration to scale and proportion. This was paired with a set of textured, oversized green and red cushions. They act as “the pop” for the . Various shades of red and green feature as repeat elements. For reds - there’s the red sofa cushion, the red cast iron pot in the kitchen, and the vermillion bedsheets for the bed. For greens, besides the sofa cushion, there’s the indoor plant by the kitchen counter. You’ll also notice a darker shade of green for the bedroom wall.
By now, besides contrasting yet complementary elements, the play on duality is obvious. Two different sets of dark wood chairs complete the round dining table. The rattan set has curved-edges for the seat and backrest pads. The other set of beige fabric chairs contrast and complement the rattan ones. A spherical rattan weave lamp hangs above the dining area.
The weathered dark wood laminate TV console sits where the living area meets the bedroom. The placement highlights the functional quality of its rounded edges. Above the console, you can spot a curved corner for the adjoining beam and column.
The female homeowner of this 47 sqm 2Room Flexi resale hdb flat wanted a rustic yet clean aesthetic. Keywords given were 'Joshua tree' and 'bathroom with resort feel'. She wanted the space to feel open & spacious, with a warm, cozy vibe. Her nos were precise - no white lights, no greys, and no sharp edges.
For the kitchen, long terracotta subway tiles form the backsplash. The lower L-shaped kitchen cabinets add more countertop and storage space. This also enabled the washer to be tucked neatly.
A round-up for the year. We'll see you soon ;)
Usually overlooked in a HDB Maisonette, a stairway graced with glass walls and a powder-coated handrail creates a refined atmosphere. The interplay of light and reflections adds a touch of enchantment to the ascension. Serene and inviting, this captivating pathway leads your mind towards a sense of sophistication, tranquility and rest.
This sleek and modern kitchen showcases the beauty of a monochromatic color scheme, creating a harmonious and sophisticated space. From floor to ceiling, every element has been thoughtfully designed to create a seamless and elegant look.
Every corner tells a story of balance, elegance, and timeless sophistication.

Embracing minimalist elegance in the heart of Singapore. ✨ magic on this Scandinavian-inspired HDB flat, creating a space that's both stylish and fashionable.
The living room is the heart of the home, and in this Japandi-inspired HDB flat, it exudes a sense of calm and tranquility. The space is defined by clean lines, minimalist furnishings, and a neutral color palette of warm wood tones, whites, and grays. Large windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the room, while potted plants add a touch of nature to the space. A low-slung sofa with soft cushions provides a cozy spot for relaxing, while a simple coffee table in front of it anchors the seating area. A woven rug on the floor adds texture and warmth, while a sleek media console houses a minimalist TV.
In this Muji inspired BTO project our design consultant proposes a home that evokes the feeling of peace and serenity through decluttering a space with simplicity. The approach to this design is not only visually appealing and practical, but also creates beauty without and fancy and fanfare. You'll find that every element has a purpose and that there's no excess or unnecessary decoration (resulting in cost savings too).
