We recently stayed at Shigeru Ban’s Simose Art Garden Hotel, and had the most incredible time. The museum housed Yumiko Simose’s private collection of over 500 artworks over half a century, while overlooking the sacred island of Itsukushima. Every winter, the Phobjikha Valley welcomes the Black Necked Cranes, who migrate from the frigid winters in Tibet. These endangered birds, call this valley home for the winter where they nest their young.

The fall months of November and December are one of our favorite times to visit Bhutan.
