Woods in the Books is an independent bookshop for picture books, nestled in the quaint neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru, Singapore. We pick and choose a range of our favourite books to enchant readers both young and young-at-heart. Dear little dreamers and kitty lovers! Join Sara Patricia Kelly for a poetry reading at Woods in the Books (Katong) to celebrate her new book, 4 a.m Raspberry Party.

We'll enjoy poems featuring bubbles, cats, and silly words, have a wiggle, and make a paper cat together! What fun!

The event is free with the purchase of a copy of her book and is designed for children aged 2-6 and their caregivers.

With a heavy heart, we share the bittersweet news that Woods in the Books flagship store bids farewell to Tiong Bahru by the end of January 2024, embracing a new chapter in Katong. Leaving behind our 11-year home is an extremely hard decision to make. Despite our best efforts, it is unfortunately no longer sustainable.

Through our little green door, for over a decade, we've welcomed countless children and book lovers. Many became friends, including the cherished "bookstore angels" and the little customers who've grown taller than us!

Our heartfelt gratitude extends to our incredible team of bookstore elves, past and present, who turned shoe-string budgets into magical experiences. May their journey with us propel them to greater heights.

In the peak of COVID, the local community's unwavering support kept us afloat when tourist spending vanished. The returned visits from relocated angels and visitors post-COVID warmed our hearts on tough days.

We are looking for both full-time and part-time bookstore crew who:

• has a big heart for books, especially picture books and children’s books
- loves working hard and working smart
- believes in our ethos

You will be expected to:
- Help process book deliveries and display books so that they look their best
- Help customers looking for book recommendations with good product knowledge
- Gift wrap books and toys ― training will be provided
- Carry out some manual labour, such as carting books and heavy cartons around the shop

Prospective crew should:
- Be Singaporean, Singapore PR, or Malaysian.
- Be comfortable working with humans large and small
- For a PART-TIME position: min. 3 days of work per week, 6-8 hours a day for a minimum of 6 months.
- For a FULL-TIME position: min. 5 days of work per week, including weekends and Public Holidays as needed, for a minimum of 2 years.

Back in 1997, the idyllic island was sent into a frenzy when an elderly resident said that she saw a tiger in the swamp.
