Joei Wong Wei Qi Diploma in Social Sciences in Gerontology, TP Gerontology🧡 Temasek Polytechnic School of Humanities & Social Sciences has given me plenty of opportunities to venture out of my comfort zone 🧗. One such experience is being selected to take part in the Japan East-Asia Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) 🇯🇵. My friends and I discovered more about Japanese culture ⛩ and social welfare 🫶🏽. It was an unforgettable and fruitful experience that is close to my heart 💟! In the previous Academic Year (AY) 🗓, I was one of the 15 Project Coordinator Leaders. Being a leader, I sub-organised and carried out a local community project by conducting a beach 🏝 clean-up! I also joined the Gerontology Interest Group as an Event Subcommittee member and assisted in implementing bonding 🤝 activities to bring students together. One of my leadership roles 💪🏽 include being the Assistant Welfare Secretary of the Humanities and Social Sciences Studies Club. We recently conducted HSS’s Project Coordinators (P.CO) Camp 2024! We are anticipating more exciting 🌟 upcoming events happening later in the AY! I have met amazing 🤩 individuals and forged genuine friendships 🫂 – HSS is my home 🏠 away from home 🧡 One advice to my fellow TP peers is to always live life 💪🏽 with no regrets, seize the opportunities you get 🤝 and be brave enough to step out of your comfort zone 🧗. Ng Shi Yu Diploma in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Temasek Polytechnic Informatics and IT School From a young age, I was drawn to the idea of creating solutions 💡 that have a meaningful impact on society. I’ve always been fascinated by the evolution of technology 🌐 and how it can be leveraged to solve complex problems 🚨. My passion 🫶🏽 for emerging technologies was thus ignited by the endless possibilities they present to shape the future 🚀. When it came to AI, I was genuinely interested in the topic. I often let my curiosity guide my learning 📖, and studying became more enjoyable. This led me to pursue the Diploma in Applied Artificial Intelligence 🎓. The International Olympiad in AI was an unforgettable experience 🤩Throughout the competition, I stepped out of my comfort zone and put my abilities to the test 💪🏽. This allowed me to gain knowledge 🧠 over the course of the last few months. Hence, I found the whole experience to be both fun and immensely rewarding 💯. In addition, I am honoured to receive the gold medal 🥇 as it serves as a testament to the effort that I had put in to prepare for the competition. Being part of this pioneering team and representing Singapore 🇸🇬 on an international stage is something I will always cherish. My experience at TP has been incredibly enriching 💌. Whether it was working on group projects 🤝, engaging in class discussions 🗣, or simply sharing laughs 🤣 with friends, TP has provided an environment where I’ve been able to grow 📈both personally and academically. Sofina Neo Ning Xin Diploma in Business Process and Systems Engineering As a third-year student at TP, I take pride in my academic achievements as well as my involvement in extracurricular activities. Shanice Lum Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science As the former vice-captain of TP Taekwondo ,I had the incredible opportunity to lead the entire CCA, which significantly honed my leadership skills 💫 I am honoured to have received both the CCA Scholarship and the Sports Colour Award. I am truly thankful to my coaches and advisors for recognising my hard work and dedication in such a meaningful way. I would like to extend my gratitude to the PHS lecturers and Dr. Maisha 💖, whose support enabled me to balance my academic responsibilities with my athletic commitments. With their guidance, I was able to represent Singapore at the 16th ASEAN Taekwondo Championship and prepare for future competitions 💯 Additionally, my experience in TP's Polytechnic Foundation Programme has been incredibly rewarding. Despite maintaining a hectic student-athlete schedule, I managed to find time for volunteering at PSS Pharmacy Week and participating in a beach clean-up at Pulau Ubin 🏝 These activities provided meaningful ways to give back to the community and connect with my peers outside of the sports arena. Another enriching experience was my study trip to Korea, which was both eventful and enlightening. I had the opportunity to immerse myself in Korean culture 🇰🇷, visit various manufacturing facilities, and explore Jeonbuk University. This trip broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for global practices and cultural diversity. PM Lawrence Wong unveiled new SkillsFuture initiatives at the National Day Rally 2024. These initiatives are poised to support career switchers and Singaporeans aged 40+ in their pursuit of Continuing Education. The new SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support Scheme offers up to S$6,000 in financial support over 6 months, providing a safety net for adult learners who are looking to career switch. This initiative also integrates training, career coaching, and job-matching services, making career switches seamless and targeted for the emerging and future economies. On the other hand, the SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme provides Singaporeans aged 40 and above with up to 50% of their last-drawn salary, capped at S$3,000 monthly, when they enrol in a full-time programme. This allowance, based on their average income over the past 12 months, helps alleviate worries on income during their studies for up to 24 months. Joshua Kee Diploma in Mechatronics, Temasek Engineering School As a secondary school student with interests in technology and robotics 🦾, participating in the Engineering Olympiad 2022 equipped me with knowledge 🧠 and hands-on skills 🛠 in basic engineering modules. I was able to grasp the concepts and clinch the Gold Award 🥇 when put to the test! After gaining invaluable insights from the Engineering Olympiad, I decided to pursue my passion further by applying to our Mechatronics course through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE). I worked hard preparing my portfolio 📁 and write-ups 📝, linking my experiences back to my aspirations. In TP, I got to participate in many competitions 🏆 and leadership events 🌟. I’m part of the Mechatronics WorldSkills Team of 2025, and participated in the Singapore Young Leaders Programme 2024 earlier in May. I have also been focusing 📚on getting a good GPA and honing his leadership skills 💪🏽. Huge credits to the strong community 🤝 within TP for giving me the hope to achieve more 🏅 and to get more out of my polytechnic life 🌟! I also participated in the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) 2023 at Las Vegas 🏎. Together with four other students, I prepared for the competition, undertook test runs 📋, tracked data 📊 and came up with team strategies 💡 such as pit stops and battery changes. In the world finals 🌏, The Temasek Racers fought hard against the international teams. Eraj Naurain Diploma in Communications and Media Management at TP Temasek Polytechnic School of Business Growing up, I have always been immersed in my family’s fragrance business, Les Parfum Singapore🌸 and eventually started working there since I was 15. I cultivated a passion 🫶🏽 for scents from an early age – from developing my own collections to studying perfumery 📚 for three years on my own and attending beauty exhibits all around the world 🌏. During the pandemic, when our retail stores were shut, I utilised the social media and content creation skills that I gained 💪🏽 during my three years at CMM and started livestream sessions 📹. Additionally, I added video reviews on TikTok, and since then, my responsibilities have grown to striking brand deals and sales opportunities with other social media platforms such 🤝 as @perfumeswithenk. In the past year, I realised that Arabic scents are gaining popularity around the globe 🌐. I spotted a business opportunity 💡 – to develop a solo avenue to sell them! Plus, I had gained inspiration from Dubai, which is my second home 🏠, with its perfume kiosks scattered across its malls. I merged 🤝 both my passion for fragrances and love for Dubai to start Gulf Fragrances, a Middle Eastern perfume kiosk that offers affordable 💵 luxury scents. Aishah Syamsul Bahri Diploma in Accountancy & Finance During her time in school, Aishah has held various leadership roles in both the Entrepreneurship and Project Innovate clubs, where she spearheaded multiple projects that served as platforms for personal development and growth. Her leadership journey earned her the CCA Merit Award (leadership) and the National Young Leaders Fellowship by the Halogen Foundation. Beyond the classroom, Aishah actively pursues opportunities to expand her knowledge. She participated in the United Women Singapore Fintech First Program, gaining valuable insights into the intersections of technology and finance, particularly in fields like AI, blockchain, and business analytics. Her involvement in the program led to her being featured in the news and selected to speak at the Women in Payments Conference ASEAN 2022 on mentorship.
