i really really enjoyed this, probably cos 1. i love kaya and 2. i love cheese 😹

the kaya itself is very thick and tastes strongly of pandan which i prefer - pandan>coconut kaya for me all the way 🙂‍↕️ however, in parts with no cheese it was a lil too sweet for me 😅 tbh the cheese flavour isn’t very evident, it just comes through as a tinge of saltiness to cut through the sweetness of the kaya, ensuring the filling didn’t get gelat.

ngl i was hoping for a mini cheese pull which could potentially have been achieved if the cheese was separate rather than mixed into the kaya… but issok! the taste was still well-balanced and enjoyable 😚

ok finally onto the pastry - crisp, buttery and soooo flaky, it was the perfect texture to pair with the mushy fillings! lowkey i feel like this was better than the curry puff pastry cos it was so much thinner, which rlly helped the kaya cheese flavour shine through ✨

overall it was a great take on a classic local flavour pairing and i can definitely see myself heading back to old chang kee to get one for an afternoon snack 😋 thank you for sharing these goodies with me & my family! ❤️
