2024 Kaohsiung Open 2024 - 29 August 2024

Straight after 2 KL competitions, we embarked on an exciting journey to Kaohsiung for the 2nd stop of The Asian Dance Festival 2024. We were very excited about the food and a new competition arena! Having a beautiful competition hotel stay was the cherry on top. The dancers were trying their best not to let their tan and makeup melt away in the heat 😂

After rounds and rounds and rounds of dancing, our DDS dancers came in 🏆 for most of their events. Extremely pleased with their determination and progress. GO SINGAPORE!!!!! Congratulations to Ms Jean & Mr Nick for their wonderful results in the Professional Ballroom events.

We brought 3 acts to the GTB stage this year and was really happy to be able to share our dance with the audience and renowned judges. Thank you judges for all the lovely critiques and feedback.

The intention behind joining a dance competition that is different from our familiar Latin dance scene is always to open the eyes of our dancers and we sure did. Our dancers learnt so much about the other dance styles, watched how big groups work and train together and made new dance friends ❤️

It was an honour to be invited by Mr William Lor to this competition filled with many events for the medallist and open solo dancers. Team DDS did amazing through many rounds and many heats to make semi-finals and finals of their respective events. As usual at a dance competition, there were some waiting time and we are really proud of our dancers for making it through 9 hours of dancing and still giving their absolute best. Congratulations to Arkady and Cheryl of for a successful competition and thank you for the invitation. It was the first local competition of 2024 for many of our DDS dancers! Great dancing and results from our team and we are so proud of you. Every competition is a good motivation to improve and do better than the previous time.

Cissy, Qin En and Amber did their first competition in the New Open categories and had a fantastic start to it. Medallist dancers danced through quarters and semi-finals to make finals with great results and most importantly, significant progress from the previous one. What an experience and we’re glad to be part of the first series of this competition! From grand opening to auditions, semi finals and then the finals…our dancers have enjoyed themselves so much from watching amazing dance acts and participating in interviews (in mandarin 🤭) It was also so refreshing to see more Latin Ballroom representations in dance competitions like this 👏🏻

Huge huge congratulations to Ms Judy for making semi-finals in the Open age Soloist category. Ms Judy performed an item close to her heart, dedicating that piece to her friends in the healthcare industry 👩🏻‍⚕️

Cherise, Claire, Kaelyn, Lily and Marissa represented DDS in the 12 & under group and won GOLD 🏆 in their category!!! They wowed everyone with a cute fruity Latin Samba item 🍇🍎🍋🌻🍐🌺
