Two days to show day!! See you guys there!
This show is part of Sing'theatre's Musical Theatre Fringe Festival.
Lastly, we're happy to have Xinrui as our male understudy. He shares with us his experience as an understudy so far and his fondness for flowers growing through cracks in concrete.
Questions:
1. What do you do for a living? / what is your day job?
Job? What's a job? Ok jokes aside I'm currently on the fresh uni grad job hunt, so probably still considered unemployed. Or maybe I'm a freelancer. Who knows?
2. How did you get into musicals?
I don't really think there was any one point. I like singing, I like theatre, I saw Phantom of the Opera (The movie)...oh that was probably it.
3. What is it like being an understudy?
If living vicariously as someone else is what makes me enjoy performing, being an understudy lets me live every male characters' lives. Working out what makes each of them tick, why they sing the songs they do, it's all great fun. Plus I get to learn a whole bunch of songs.
4. Where's the weirdest place you've seen flowers growing?
My favourite is when they grow through the cracks in concrete. Like a giant middle finger to urbanization. You can pave over every patch of earth on the planet, but give it a couple of weeks and a new bud will be peeking out of a crack somewhere. They truly do surprise us, on the side of the road.

In these Covid-y times, it would be impossible to keep a show going if anyone fell ill. As such, understudies are more important than ever and we're proud to introduce Valerene, who is one of two understudies helping us out!
Questions:
1. What do you do for a living?
I'm a software developer ~
2. What do you like most about performing?
It's fun! And I like the feeling of empowerment and confidence it gives you because I am typically a shy/reserved person
3. What is it like being an understudy?
It has been very chill to be honest. I have not been in a r***e before, and it's a lot less demanding than what I initially thought/expected.
4. Have you ever been responsible for keeping a plant alive? How long did it last?
In the past, nope. But recently I got a DIY terrarium gift from my company and made it pretty. It's an air plant so it's very low maintenance and still surviving now.

Meet Thomas! Below, he shares about the rush of emotions he gets from performing and what unusual place he has seen flowers grow.
Questions:
1. What do you do for a living?
I am an underwriting analyst in an insurer, the gatekeeper ensuring that insurance is fair and viable for all in the long term.
2. What do you like most about performing?
The or****ic blend of emotions it gives - the adrenaline rush of baring my vulnerabilities in front of people, the endless pursuit of perfection and finally, the sense of accomplishment when the audience enjoyed it.
3. Tell us a bit about your character in the show.
I am playing an optimistic young man who is fresh into a relationship, has the future planned out for himself and his partner, only to realise the road ahead is actually not as optimistic as he thought it would be.
4. Where's the weirdest place you've seen flowers growing?
In the desert when i went to Uluru. How da heck they even grow in that weather?

Introducing Shabrina! We first got to know her in 2018 during Island Song and we're excited to have her on stage with us!
Questions:
1. What do you do for a living?
I am a volunteer manager!
2. How did you get into musicals?
My mom forced me to audition for a production of Alice in Wonderland in primary 3. I was casted as Alice and have been involved in musicals since then! :)
3. Tell us a bit about your character in the show.
I am playing the character "young wife". I'd like to think that I am the shadow of who the "wife" used to be. A more younger, carefree version of her!
4. Have you ever been responsible for keeping a plant alive? How long did it last?
It was a chilli plant... that lasted for a good 1.5 months until I stayed at my friends' place for 2 nights (very hot days) and it just... died. There were tiny baby sprouts already :(

We are thrilled to introduce Ryann, who is one of five new cast members that will be working on the show with us! Below, he talks a little bit about himself and also tells us where he thinks wildflowers grow.
Questions:
1. What do you do for a living?
I'm a full time PhD student in theoretical computer science :)
2. How did you get into musicals?
I was exposed to Les Mis when younger and was enamored by the combination of singing, acting and production that goes into making a musical.
3. Tell us a bit about your character in the show.
My character (Husband) is basically a 30 year older version of myself - neurotic, pompous and deeply flawed, but (hopefully) somewhat redeemable.
4. Where do wildflowers grow?
In the strangest of places. In the cosmic pillars of nebulae, light years away from our solar system. In the folds of the cell walls of the smallest prokaryotes. In the soul of the soul of the world.

Today we're introducing Nicole, who is also joining us for the first time on stage in our upcoming r***e!
1. What's the weirdest dream you've ever had?
I have quite an unruly subconscious (classic sign of an overthinker!) so my dreams are often strange. The most recent one involved a banquet, broken front doors, and stampeding farm animals.
2. What's your relationship with dreams?
To me, dreams are great mediums for unrestrained play. As cliched as it is, I think the beauty of dreams is that they’re truly limited only by our imagination. When life gets too heavy, I often turn to my dreams (be they of the aspirational or nocturnal kind) for some form of much-needed levity.

We're excited to introduce Gabriel, who is one of two of our newest Players in our upcoming r***e! Here, he answers a couple of questions about dreams, and we find out why his skin is so smooth...
1. Do you lucid dream?
I lucid dream once or twice at like New York skin care during the sessions. You have to lay still and sometimes I would fall asleep. It felt really weird like I was on drugs or something. Cool and scary
2. What's a dream that has come true for you?
A dream that has come through would be to study and work hard for the career that I'm striving for. The theatre has always been close to my heart. My first performance was when I was 5 or 6, puppetry. Most of my classmates sometimes say that I'm a veteran on stage even though I started doing acting in secondary school.
