We advocate, benchmark and celebrate the cause of youth work in Singapore. YWAS will endeavor to do the following:
1. Build a community of youth workers
3. Why?
The Facebook community for the Youth Work Association (Singapore), or YWAS for short, started in 2011 gathering ground and support before its official registration with the Registry of Societies, Singapore on 21st March 2012. The secretariat for YWAS will be Children-At-Risk-Empowerment Association (CARE Singapore), a youth serving agency established in 1997 and also the National Council of Socia

Happy Youth Day! Conveying greetings from SPS Eric Chua to all youth workers out there! ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Did you know that the percentage of NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youths in Singapore aged 15 to 24 has risen from 3.7% to 4.1% between 2013 and 2023? These youths face significant challenges that can lead to social exclusion, low income, and a lack of essential skills. Fei Yue Community Services, with the support of the Youth Worker Association Singapore (YWAS), will host the inaugural Youth Outreach Conference (YOC) this year. This event brings together international speakers, local social service practitioners, educators, and policymakers for in-depth discussions on the challenges faced by NEET youths. Besides the opportunity to learn, converse and co-solution for our NEET youths, the Youth Work Day (YWD) 2024 Celebration will also be held in conjunction with the YOC.

As February 2024 closes, I've finally have some time to reminisce on one of my significant life chapters - my involvement with the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers' Associations - CAYWA. My term as Vice-Chairperson (since 2018) formally ended at CAYWA's AGM held on 20th February 2024. I'm so grateful for all the friendships, collaborations, and engagements I've been privileged to have had. What a ride it has been, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic years! Congratulations and best wishes to the CAYWA Board for the 2024-2025 term! π Work Association (Singapore)
