We are proud to present our latest project at EtonHouse Broadrick, which is also a new milestone for us as we took charge of the entire construction process from conceptualisation to the setting of foundation and finally to the actual installation of the various wooden play components.

Fueled by our NSMen's teamwork, pure woodworking prowess and intricate project management, we managed to deliver to our client a safe, durable and most importantly fun play course for their crop of eager and enthusiastic young learners!

It is always a special experience in doing projects for schools... Especially at one bustling with life, with many curious primary school students as onlookers.

We are thankful for the opportunity to be able to undertake this project for Frontier Primary School. As their name suggests, the school is always at the forefront, be it in terms of educational innovations, extracurricular activities, or inculcation of good values.

Located right next to Bayfront MRT station, the Bayfront Pavilion is currently home to EtonHouse's Garden School by the Bay. We are thankful to EtonHouse for giving us the opportunity to showcase our nifty woodworking prowess at such a picturesque location, where our natural hardwood fixtures and SOFTLINE® Jaya hardwood decking are able to harmonise elegantly as one with the scenic natural surroundings.

An amused client recently shared with us a photo of our worker's uniform's back. Emblazoned on the top of the shirt's bright yellow background were the words 'NSmen'.

After our explanation that our 'NSmen' stands for 'Nam Soon men', he was in awe, despite the gimmicky nature of the abbreviation.

While gimmicky, we are proud to say that, like our nation's own highly trained and organised defence force that have maintained Singapore's sovereignty for so many years, our company also have a group of our own 'NSmen' that were raised and trained by ourselves to "fight our wars". This is to ensure that we have an in-house team of highly trained specialists that can produce results in accordance to our stringent protocols and standards.

It's time for some loving tender care for the Softline Merbau hardwood decking that we have installed for Seafront on Meyer in 2019!

The Contemporary Bridge is an iconic centrepiece of The Minton condominium that is no stranger to the residents and visitors there. We are honoured to be tasked with replacing the timber decking across the Bridge that serves as the life force that connects the various residential blocks together.

Here at Nam Soon, one of the core values that we believe in is 'Leave No Men Behind'. As a company with a clear hierarchy and chain of command, we believe that every workman of ours, regardless of how junior or inexperienced they may be, should be given a fighting chance to prove themselves and work up the ranks. This is a win-win scenario, as the workmen will be able to secure a better future for themselves and their families, while the company will gain valued additions to the growing core of productive NSMen.

This is why we have conducted a BWMT session on this Labour Day for our latest batch of newcomers to put them in good stead to handle the many projects that they will come across. This is a good opportunity for them to better understand the requirements and standards set by the management, as well as to get the hands-on experience to build something from scratch, which they might not afford to get while working alongside their more experienced colleagues.

We would like to thank our management and operations team, as well as the team leaders, for turning up on a public holiday morning to impart their knowledge unreservedly to this group of budding NSMen.

[Year of 2022 in review]
Year 2022 marks the return to "normal" conditions that are reminiscent of pre-Covid times, as most of the safety management measures were removed.

With that behind us, Nam Soon Decking has picked up where we have left off, as we continue to mark our presence all over Singapore in 2022, at locations such as:

- Minton Condominium
- Marina Bay Residences
- Prive Condominium
- and the countless number of homes and satisfied customers!

On top of that, we have continued to provide our other core services, such as repair and maintenance for existing timber decks, timber fences and timber pergolas.

We have also made strides in introducing sustainable natural wood options to more end users, such as in the following photo, to end off the year with a resounding approval!

[Giving Back to Society]

Despite this being the 4th year running already (would have been 6th if not for the safety management measures implemented in 2020 and 2021), we still said yes without hesitation when we were invited to be a guest speaker at the Timber Decking Workshop for the aspiring students of Landscape Architecture at Singapore Polytechnic!

Led by industry expert and Nam Soon's very own Mr. Shane Wang, we covered a wide range of topics during the workshop, such as:

* Terrain Appreciation and Materials Planning - Understanding of the local climate and the project's environment in order to choose the most suitable decking material for the project

* Structural Installation Methodologies - We touched on the various methodologies employed to ensure that the underlying foundation of the timber deck matches the different needs of different projects while being as durable as possible.

* Personal Experiences - How we have got to where we are today despite the numerous setbacks we have faced throughout the years; what's more important is the experience and knowledge gained from these setbacks and harness them to become a better version of yourself

* Global Trends and Technological Advancements - It is imperative to take a macro view at times in order to better foresee ahead the evolving needs of the end users and clients.

* Hands-on Session - the most interesting segment of the workshop, where the students can get a feel of the different decking and structural materials that we use and why we choose to use them amongst the plethora of options out there in the market.

It was not all one-way communication though. We were pleasantly surprised by the inputs given by some of the students during the workshop.
