At EMCC, we believe in the power of lived experiences.
Recently, we took to the streets and spoke with some elders who shared their timeless wisdom on managing anger. Their advice was simple yet profound, and their stories reminded us that no matter our age, we can all benefit from the gentle art of patience.
So, how do you cope with anger?
At EMCC, we believe in the power of lived experiences. Recently, we took to the streets and spoke with some elders who shared their timeless wisdom on managing anger. How do you handle frustrating situations when life throws challenges your way? Everyone has their own approach to coping with stress. To explore this, we took to the streets and had the chance to chat with Stacia and Nur Amirah. They graciously shared their personal experiences and insights on how they navigate through frustration and manage life's challenges. Whether it's through mindfulness, support from loved ones, or unique personal techniques, their stories offer a glimpse into how everyday individuals build resilience and find calm in the storm. Stay tuned to hear more of these stories!
Anger is a natural emotion, but when left unchecked, it can significantly impact mental health, leading to stress, anxiety, and even depression. The EMCC team hit the ground to ask Singaporeans a simple question: When was the last time you were angry? We spoke to Iman (@ _sylhnzlkfli _ ), a former NSF, and Syahrin (syahrin_jjang), a father and firefighter, whose experiences left us much to ponder, reminding us that anger is a universal emotion that we all experience. Talking about anger is crucial—it opens the door to understanding and managing these feelings in healthy ways, helping to prevent long-term emotional harm and fostering personal growth. Learning to manage anger healthily is vital to maintaining emotional balance and overall well-being.

When was the last time you cried? We spoke with Zoomers (those from Gen Z) about how they cope with their mental health challenges. In our conversations, we found a range of coping strategies. Many young people rely on therapy, counselling, and support from friends and family. Creative outlets like art, music, physical activities, and self-care practices, also play a crucial role. A common theme was the importance of open conversations about mental health. Zoomers emphasised the need for awareness, acceptance, and resources to help them navigate their challenges. These stories highlight the importance of reducing stigma and fostering supportive environments.
We took to the streets and listened to heartfelt stories of grief and resilience. Each person we spoke with shared their journey through loss and the ways they‘ve found strength in vulnerability. These conversations are a powerful reminder of the importance of community and support in healing.
When was the last time you cried? EMCC presents our #onthestreet series where we spoke to people from all walks of life to uncover their mental health struggles that come in many shapes and forms. Here's part one!

EMCC is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the President's Challenge funding for our “Enhancing Active Seniors' Emotional and Mental Well-being” Programme. In collaboration with St Luke’s Eldercare (SLEC), this project is designed to improve seniors' emotional and mental well-being through individual counselling, group sessions, psychoeducation on self-care, and caregiver support groups. We are also committed to supporting SLEC staff, volunteers, and caregivers by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to address mental wellness issues effectively. Of about 65 awards given by President's Challenge 2024, EMCC was among six agencies (CampusImpact, Lutheran Community Care Services Ltd, Persatuan Persuratan Pemuda Pemudi Melayu, National Gallery Singapore, PSALT CARE Ltd ) invited to present our projects to President Tharman and Ms Ittogi. Our Executive Director, Elaine Tan, shared during an interview with CNA that EMCC will also provide direct counselling for the seniors at St Luke's Eldercare. We recognise that it would take a village to support our seniors, and we are excited about the positive impact this programme will have on our community!
