Today we celebrate International Anti-Corruption Day, a day designated to raise awareness of corruption and the role of the United Nations Convention in combating and preventing it.
The maritime industry is particularly exposed to corruption risk. Port calls in some parts of the world have become a place of stress for our seafarers due to the increasing nature of the corrupt maritime industry.
At Norstar, strict internal procedures are implemented, and training is conducted to combat corruption. We are also a proud member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) since 2020. MACN is a global business network working towards the vision of a maritime industry free of corruption that enables fair trade to the benefit of society at large.

We are pleased to welcome Sinar Mendawai to our managed fleet! She is a 19,999 DWT, chemical tanker built at Usuki Shipyard Co. Ltd Japan. She sails under Singaporeâs flag and was taken over on 7th November in Yeosu, Korea. Well done to all those involved.
We wish her fair winds and following seas!

We are pleased to welcome Easterly Canyon to our managed fleet! She is a 35,619 DWT chemical tanker built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Korea. She sails under Marshall Islandsâ flag and was taken over on 17th November at Rotterdam. Terrific job to all those involved.

Two of our managed vessels, Easterly As Omaria and Easterly As Olivia entered drydocking from September to October 2022. They both passed the Canakkale strait almost simultaneously as they anchored at Yalova and Tuzla.
During a dry dock, the vessel is brought to either a graving dock where the dock is pumped dry or a floating dock where the vessel is raised out of the water.
"What a stay for both of our 15 years young âladiesâ! " Anshul Saxena, the senior technical superintendent attending Easterly As Olivia said, "sailed out, decked up, and shining - Ready for fair winds and safe seas. A lot got accomplished in partnership with Rajesh Nayak, Maritime Logistics Equity Partners (MLEP)."
âThe crew of both vessels had a chance to meet for dinner! This doesnât happen very often.â, Aditya Budhraja, the technical superintendent looking after the repairs of Easterly As Omaria said.

Team Norstar participated in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Singapore last Thursday. It was a great turnout and thank you everyone for showing up to conquer the 5.6km! We are already looking forward to the next one.

What an eventful week it has been at Athens Metropolitan Expo! Posidonia made its return after a 4-year break, and it was our first time participating in this exhibition. The long waited 27th edition of Posidonia broke all records of attendance each and every day of the past week. We are happy and proud to be a part of the almost 2,000 exhibition companies to more than 18,000 international and Greek visitors.
Dr. Lars Gruenitz, Sidhartha Mathur, and Si Thu Thwin represented Norstar to share our ownerâs approach to ship management and manning services. It was a momentous week connecting with various stakeholders such as our existing and potential clients, industry associates, and more.
We are already looking forward to the next one!
According to United Nations, the purpose of is "to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the worldâs population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans.â Celebrated on the 8th of June every year, reminds us of the vital role the oceans have in our everyday life.
The theme for this year's Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean throws light on various entities such as our communities, ideas, and solutions that are working hand in hand to protect and revitalize our oceans.
At Norstar, we observe this day to raise awareness about the role the maritime industry can play in the sustainable development and use of the oceans. We are committed to keeping our oceans clean while protecting and restoring our marine ecosystems. Some of our efforts include the introduction of ballast water management, the implementation of onboard monitor systems and programs to reduce wastage on board, and more.
