Energy Research Institute at NTU is testing theirs at JTC LaunchPad@one-north to combat the urban heat island effect – say goodbye to cranking up the AC! ❄️ Turning wastewater into usable water? ECOSOFTT at JTC CleanTech One @ Jurong Innovation District is making it happen with their sewage recycling tech, every drop counts! Remember those awesome cleaning robots we discovered through our open innovation call in 2016? Gaussian Robotics successfully put them to the test to be cleaner and cheaper, and have scaled these robots across Singapore. The JTC-Singapore Green Building Council Seminar, held in-person for the first time since 2019, brought together over 200 industry insiders to explore the future of Super Low Energy Buildings (SLEBs). GetGo x JTC Car Sharing
GetGo Carsharing, Singapore’s largest car-sharing company, has been awarded a six-month tender for the provision of electric car-sharing services across eight JTC industrial sites, providing better accessibility to public #transport networks and key amenity nodes. This trial aims to assess the demand and viability of car sharing in our industrial estates, providing middle-mile transportation options in areas where there is relative inaccessibility to public transport. “By tapping GetGo's networks with other mobility players and charge point operators, customers and tenants can embrace a cleaner, greener way of moving around our estates," notes Anil Das, director of Logistics and Land Transport Cluster at JTC. The trial will hopefully shorten commute times for client meetings, when travelling to and from work, and increase options to explore during lunch breaks. Over 80 startups participated and more than 1,800 attendees from 20 countries attended SWITCH @ one-north. Thanks to all our LaunchPad partners for showing off all the innovation and the networking that takes place within the start-up community. With over 20 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, product development, and technical product management, Calvin Tan, CTO of Pints.ai has co-founded five startups which improve productivity and revenue for companies by extensively deploying tech and AI. “We started building an AI-powered investing platform because we saw that the majority of people do not invest because of a lack of knowledge and comfort, which AI can bridge. After months of hard work, we soon realised that the AI can achieve a lot more than what we initially thought. Backed by multiple requests, we started offering on-premise deployment of our proprietary finance AI model for insurances and mutual funds,” said Calvin. How would you reimagine manufacturing in a city so that it seamlessly integrates work, life, play, and learning? JTC put out a Request for Proposal (RFP) for local and international design professionals to submit concept proposals reimagining two mature industrial estates, Yishun and Kallang-Kolam Ayer. The focus was on presenting their vision of brownfield redevelopment and the benefits it brings, such as improved connectivity within the estates, more greenery and biodiversity, as well as the creation of spaces that foster a sense of community. These blue-sky ideas were then featured in Archifest, an annual architecture festival that brings together industry professionals and members of the general public. As the base of Singapore’s advanced manufacturing hub, Jurong Innovation District (JID) has served as the testbed to numerous smart technologies. One of these inventions can be found at JID's HANGOUT @ Launchpad, with its predecessors enjoying massive popularity in Japan. Meet… our vending machines. These new installations at HANGOUT aim to not just serve fresh food, but to broaden the range of meals that can be served in a vending machine. For instance, there’s a vending machine with freshly made Thai food that's kept hot via a specially built warmer. This means that customers will have the option of skipping the lunch queue while still being able to enjoy a fresh, delicious meal! These new dining options for the JID Community, made possible through smart technology, have slowly transformed HANGOUT into a central hub for people to interact and network. HANGOUT also includes foosball and pool tables for those looking to make the most of their downtime! JTC is proud to have collaborated with Blue Sky Tree Pte. Polytechnic students Geraldine Lin and Justin Wong’s earliest memories of flight sparked their interest in joining the aerospace industry. The duo was among 1,500 students and mid-careerists who gathered at Seletar Aerospace Park for the latest edition of Aerospace Industry Day. Organised by JTC, in partnership with the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore), Employment & Employability Institute, e2i, six Institutes of Higher Learning, and supported by over 20 participating companies including General Electric, SIA Engineering Company, and Rolls-Royce plc, the outreach event aims to strengthen the talent pipeline for the aerospace sector. There was a range of activities planned for the students. For example, they could speak to company representatives from the likes of Avimac and Pratt & Whitney, go on facility tours hosted by industry leaders such as Airbus and Bombardier, or attend talks and workshops that armed them with a better understanding of the industry.
