The scent of Luban differs according to soil and region.

The variety from yemen featured in the second picture surprisingly smells a little salty like ocean foam with a slight touch of seaweed..

Not a great marketing angle but soil closer to the sea tends to affect the composition of these desert pearls...

Ive even come across a variety from a relative in Daharis Oman that had aged over many years and turned brick red~It smelt like spicy cinnamon coffee but without the strong artificial scent...

After enjoying Luban for many years i prefer masjid as opposed to mos-que which is why i say luban instead of frankincense..but polemics aside..

Generally the Luban or frankincense tears we stock smells citrusy,with a light woody spicy undertone and Is reminiscent of clean dry desert air..

Burn it alone and enjoy it naturally or compliment it with the festive scent of original home-made Bukhoor.
