Meet Mr Isa Bin Abdul Kadir, our dedicated and compassionate driver at Darul Ihsan Orphanages (DIO). For the past seven years, the affable father of four has been more than just a driver, he’s been the heart and soul behind every journey. After years as a taxi driver, he joined us with a desire to give back to the community, continuing his passion for driving while making a meaningful impact.

Mr Isa embodies the spirit of Ihsan in everything he does, going the extra mile to ensure each resident's trip is not just safe, but filled with care and comfort. Whether it’s transporting children to school or supporting them in their activities, he has witnessed their growth and takes pride in being part of their journey. "It’s fulfilling to see how much they’ve grown and knowing I’ve played a role in their lives," he shares.

The camaraderie with his colleagues brings joy to his days, and he’s embraced the evolving needs of his role by mastering new systems for smoother, more efficient transport services. In his downtime, Mr Isa enjoys exploring new food spots on his motorbike, always in search of the next hidden gem.

As he looks to the future, Mr Isa hopes to see DIO’s mission grow and flourish. "When you have good intentions, good things come back to you," he says. With his steadfast commitment, the road ahead for DIO and the community it serves is filled with hope and promise.

This ensures they can still receive the care and guidance they need while gradually learning to manage their own lives.

With a comprehensive life-skills curriculum and the supervision of trained professionals, we help our residents navigate the path to full independence and successfully integrate into society. Together, we build brighter futures and stronger communities.

Meet Mr Muhammad Hakim Bin Mohd Raman, our dedicated Community Engagement & Events Executive at Ihsan Aid (IA). Since joining MTFA in June, Hakim has truly embodied the spirit of 'Ihsan' – the Islamic principle of performing good deeds with excellence and sincerity.

Whether he’s conducting home visits or organising community events, Hakim consistently goes above and beyond to support our beneficiaries. His empathy and determination are evident as he connects with those in need, offering a compassionate ear and practical assistance.

“This job has been a real eye-opener,” Hakim reflects. “Witnessing the extra effort our beneficiaries put into making ends meet inspires me to do everything I can to support them. Ten years ago, I began my journey with MTFA as a volunteer, distributing iftar meals to our beneficiaries during Ramadhan. Today, I’m honoured to be in a position where I can connect more deeply with those we serve, and contribute by proposing ideas to enhance the support we provide.” His commitment is further demonstrated through his efforts to link beneficiaries with the appropriate support groups and courses, ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they deserve.

Looking ahead, Hakim is eagerly preparing for MTFA's upcoming gala event – his largest project to date. With his background in event management, he is determined to create a lasting impact on attendees. Drawing on his experience with end-to-end event preparations, Hakim is striving to ensure the gala reaches its fullest potential, all while maintaining realistic expectations.

Hakim envisions a brighter future for IA: “I hope to see more volunteers actively engaged in our community. Our elderly beneficiaries, many of whom live alone, are always in need of someone to talk to. Volunteers can play a crucial role in supporting our community.”

Ihsan Aid (IA) has resumed our home visits to underprivileged beneficiaries across the community. From elderly individuals living alone to low-income families, we're reaching out to those who need it most.

These visits aren't just about financial support—they're about forging connections and understanding the unique needs of each household. Whether it's linking beneficiaries to cooking courses, support groups, or other valuable resources, we're committed to enhancing lives in meaningful ways.

In 2023, our home visit initiative distributed over $6,000 worth of essential household items, benefiting 56 families.

Alhamdulillah, MTFA has joyfully marked 120 years of compassion and growth with a birthday celebration at Mandai Wildlife Reserve earlier today! This special event, dedicated to our beneficiaries, brought together over 1,500 individuals including key MTFA representatives and staff, to honour our shared legacy and embrace a future filled with promise and continued impact.

From our humble beginnings, MTFA has flourished into an organisation that lives and breathes the spirit of Ihsan in every endeavour. Today’s gathering at the zoo was not just a celebration of our history; it was a testament to our enduring commitment to those we serve.

We express our deepest gratitude to Singapore Zoo, for offering us a beautiful space to create lasting memories with our beneficiaries. Our President, Mr Abdul Rahman Bin Mohd Hanipah, Abdul Rahman Bmh, graced the occasion with an inspiring speech, reinforcing our collective vision for a brighter future. The celebration was sweetened with thematic white and green cakes and cupcakes, shared among all attendees as a heartfelt token of appreciation for their unwavering support.

Today marks a special day for us at MTFA as we proudly commemorate 120 years of dedicated service and compassion.

For over a century, we have upheld our commitment to uplifting the community, and this significant milestone reflects the resilience and strength of those we serve. Their unwavering spirit continues to inspire our mission and deepen our resolve.

This week, we are called to reflect on guidance from Surah Al-Mu’minun, verses 99-100:

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرْجِعُونِ

لَعَلِّىٓ أَعْمَلُ صَـٰلِحًۭا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ ۚكَلَّآ ۚ

Which means: "When death approaches one of them, they cry, ‘My Lord, let me return (to life). So, I may do good in what I left behind.’"

The key lesson, is to seize the opportunity to do good deeds in this life before it's too late, and not to regret missed chances after death.

Meet Ms Norrashidah Binte Abdul Rashid, a Senior Executive of Ihsan Aid and a devoted member of the MTFA family since 2015. Guided by a profound desire to assist others, she discovered her true calling within the non-profit sector. "Joining MTFA wasn’t merely a career choice – it was a spiritual journey. By His will, I found MTFA, and Alhamdulillah, I was selected. It is by His blessing that I am here, and I truly believe it was meant for me to be part of MTFA," she shares.

In her role, Ms Norra harmonises both worldly and spiritual commitments, drawing from her experiences to empathise with those served by Ihsan Aid. Ihsan Aid delivers essential welfare support and financial assistance, empowering individuals and families to overcome challenges and achieve self-sufficiency. As the chairman of the Staff Wellness Committee (SWC), she takes pride in orchestrating activities for staff, fostering relaxation and camaraderie, particularly through the cherished annual overseas retreats.

Her journey has been marked by challenges, yet her unwavering dedication has driven her to surpass her limits and achieve remarkable success. "MTFA is more than just work – it has become an integral part of who I am. The organisation feels like family, and I am surrounded by like-minded individuals who continuously put others before themselves."

Reflecting on MTFA’s 120-year legacy, she admires the hard work and dedication that have shaped its storied history. “Reaching 120 years is a testament to everyone’s efforts. I’m honoured to contribute to an organisation with such a deep mission,” says the mother of two. Looking forward, Ms Norra hopes for MTFA’s continued growth and the empowerment of communities. “For Ihsan Aid, I hope we continue to enable beneficiaries to transition from recipients to givers,” she envisions.

We were delighted to welcome 17 North District Social Development Officers (SDOs) to MTFA yesterday. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together and share insights into the essential services we offer through our subsidiaries, including financial assistance, Muslim burial arrangements, and various initiatives designed to uplift our community.

Our discussions were enriched by the collective wisdom in the room, especially as we explored our ongoing mosque partnerships and the upcoming islandwide mosque collection drive this Friday. A special moment of connection occurred when Ms Rashida Shariff, Assistant District Superintendent and a former social worker at Darul Ihsan Orphanages two decades ago, shared her joy in seeing the incredible growth and progress of the Orphanages.

This visit truly underscored the strength of collaboration and our shared commitment to supporting those in need. We are deeply grateful to the North District SDOs for their active participation and the invaluable exchange of ideas.

Together, we are building a more compassionate and supportive community.

Meet Mr Rhoderick Abad Arellano, our steadfast Centre Manager at (IKC). With over two decades of experience in renal healthcare, Mr Rhoderick has played a pivotal role in guiding IKC to success since its founding in 2018.

At MTFA, we believe that nurturing our team is just as important as caring for the community we serve. Mr Rhoderick is a shining example of this belief. From prioritising patient welfare to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, he embodies the values of Ihsan in every aspect of his role. His approach to challenges reflects the confidence that comes from knowing he is backed by a strong and dedicated team: “For every problem, there is a solution. With my exceptional team of nurses, I’m empowered to make informed decisions and overcome each challenge.”

When MTFA entrusted Mr Rhoderick with the opportunity to lead IKC six years ago, it wasn’t just a job — it was a chance to build something meaningful. “There may be better job offers elsewhere, but few places offer the golden opportunity to create a dialysis centre from the ground up,” shared the father of three. His dedication to IKC’s growth is a testament to MTFA’s commitment to providing its employees with opportunities to thrive and leave a lasting legacy.

As IKC prepares to expand to new locations in Henderson and Yishun, Mr Rhoderick’s enthusiasm for the future is a reflection of the supportive and empowering environment MTFA fosters. “Seeing the success IKC has achieved, I’m excited to see our impact grow on a larger scale,” said the avid mountain biker. His optimism envisions a future where excellence in kidney care reaches even further, touching and transforming countless lives within our community.

Alhamdulillah, we are pleased to announce that MTFA and .sg have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to house an (IKC) donation box at the mosque premises, marking our 12th such collaboration.

The MOU was formally signed last Friday afternoon by Ustaz Khairul Anuar, Executive Chairman of Al-Falah Mosque, and Dr Abdul Qader Al-Aidaroos, CEO of MTFA, in a ceremony attended by key representatives from both MTFA and the mosque.

Since November 2023, MTFA has been actively engaging with mosques to forge strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening our connections with mosque communities and providing essential support to our kidney dialysis patients through subsidised treatments.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Al-Falah Mosque Advisor Haji Yahya Hashim and Vice Chairman Mr Johari Bin Ridawi, who were present at the ceremony, for their hospitality and support of this significant initiative.

For 120 years, MTFA has stood as a steadfast pillar of support, dedicated to uplifting our community in times of need. As we mark this significant milestone, our resolve to make a meaningful impact has never been stronger.

Wakaf provides a means of continuous reward for the donor beyond their lifetime, as long as the asset remains in place. Contributions to Islamic institutions situated on Wakaf land will benefit future generations, ensuring that the rewards for such acts of charity persist even after one’s passing.

In the pursuit of true contentment, remember that our Prophet Muhammad SAW found true richness in iman (faith), not in the fleeting allure of worldly possessions. Embrace simplicity, for the treasures of this world will not follow us to the grave.
