Vajda Kayaks showing quality on the World Cup Standings!

The Canoe slalom season is officially over and we were happy to find that our products are doing well out there!

The majority of the top 10 spots in all categories are held by athletes paddling our kayaks and canoes.

It is very important and brings us great joy to see that top paddlers are putting their trust in our company and we are working hard every day (as all the athletes) to become better and better.

Speaking of working hard …this year we introduced two new models, Salto 4 and Demon 4, which were designed in cooperation with excellent athletes. Make sure to try them!

We are very pleased with the feedback so far and we believe this will be best the boats to use especially for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

If you are doing the ICF race in Paris this autumn and have not tried these boats yet, test boats will be available there!

Easy warmup question: How does it feel to be U23 European champion again?

Become European champion is an unbelievable feeling. This is my second title as U23 champion and I’m also very proud that thanks to my teammate Vašek Chaloupka we kept this title in Czechia for 3 consecutive years ( V. Heger- 2020 and 2022, V. Chaloupka- 2021). It will be interesting to see if we manage to keep it in Czechia next year too.

We watched the Czech National selections for seniors this year and it was a nerve wrecking series of races and everything came down to the last run. For you, was it harder to make it to senior team or win U23 Europeans?

For sure, it was harder to take spot in senior Czech team. It’s 4 races in a row where you need to keep performing. Europeans as a treat for doing so. There I could really enjoy every run.

How does it feel to be one of the early adopters of paddle switching in C1M? Do you think this is the way to improve C1M times?

I don’t think switching in C1M is catching an eye anymore. It is true, that in 2018 when I started to switch not everyone understood, but then I made the senior team one year later and I believe, people realised that it is not a bad idea at all. There are many athletes switching paddle nowadays especially young ones. I believe this is the way to go.

What is your advice to other paddlers which would like to adopt this technique?
First thing first, it important to learn how to paddle on the cross and then start learning how to switch. Plenty of younger athletes are not using full advantage of the cross strokes while paddling straight lines and that’s a mistake. Switching should be advantageous to athletes and should be used only when it’s needed. I would like to encourage athletes to practice switching technique and not to be afraid of it. They will be able to improve their paddling. Personally, I believe I wouldn’t be as successful as I’m right now without switching.

How come you started paddling Vajda boats?
I really liked your current boat model.

Which model are you paddling?

I’m paddling model EDGE and I’m very happy with it.

You were not afraid that boat change will influence your results in negative way?

There was a big question mark above this change. I was bit afraid I will not perform as good as previous seasons but that didn’t happen. Boat suits me well and I have my best paddling season yet!

What is your biggest sport dream?

My biggest sport dream is to start on the Olympic Games.

We need to squeeze in with our test boats a bit… but only because so many spectators are expected to come and watch 2022 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. Can’t wait to see team runs tomorrow! Good luck to all the athletes Planet Canoe

Salto 4
was designed in cooperation with Olympic medalists and living legends Peter Kauzer and Jiri Prskavec. Both athletes contributed with great ideas and improvements which makes this boat truly special.

We moved the thickest part of the Salto back slightly and made the tail portion of the boat thinner which gives it more stability and at the same time effortless and lightning quick turning abilities.

Some additional improvements are:
The boat cockpit thinner so it doesn’t collect excess water while paddling Whitewater.
The footrest area is wider which makes it more comfortable for taller paddlers to fit in.
The nose of the Salto 4 was lifted so paddler can easily jump over stoppers or bigger waves.

Biggest changes in short:
- Boat offers lots of stability to the paddler
- Very fast in going forward
- More space in footrest area
- Excellent for PARIS 2024
