YALI VISITATION REPORT 19th July 2023.
Under the initiative of promoting gender equality and women empowerment the NIJ Foundation has provided skill training opportunities to 70 single women and out-of-school girls as enshrined in the constitution to promote gender equality with the country still reeling under the threat of women's economic development, the daily lives of women and vulnerable children have been affected greatly.
We received two members from the YALI RLC ( Jaspa and Patricia), and the Yali president Sierra Leone chapter who introduced the guests and thanked participants for waiting for a long duration. The manager welcomed the guests and thank them for their historical visit to Sierra Leone as well as promoting the work of the organization.
In his statement, Mr. Jaspa thanked the management of the organization for promoting the works of YALI the purpose of the visit is to know the activities of Yali alums in Sierra Leone and they want to hear about the activities of the organization since its inception. The manager explained that the organization started in 2018 and registered in 2021 with the government of Sierra Leone, the organization has completed many projects in Sierra Leone. The NIJ Foundation held covid 19 sensitization and donated food and face masks to about 1000 beneficiaries to mitigate the spread of the virus, women's empowerment, and mental health community engagement at Kroo Bay Community, Yali serves on climate change at Mambo community. The representative from community stakeholders thanked them for their visit and he was hugely involved in the selection of participants he was a delighted personality because the organization allowed him to serve in such a capacity.
The visit was climaxed by practical work from 50 participants which brought joy to our guests and endorsed us as servant leaders and they highly appreciated the hard work of the organization.
NIJF observes YALI SERVES DAY. DONATED 360 LEARNING MATERIALS TO THE LESS PRIVILEGED SCHOOL PUPILS OF MIRACLE INTERNATIONAL PRIMARY AND JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL. The YALI SERVES event is an annual event which Yalians usually participate in creating impact in their communities in diverse activities. This year’s event we decided to celebrate in by donating 360 learning materials to sixty (60) school children of the Gbankor Bannah community. This community is located at the outskirts of Western Rural District of Waterloo. To get there was really challenging for us , as it was difficult for cars to get there during these rainy season. Therefore we decided to onboard motorcycles which was not easy for us as there was a heavy downpour of rain at that time and the road was in a very delapidated situation. But as the saying goes “ as a leader it’s through adversity we should always stand tall on our feet and be strong “ One can not be a true leader if you don’t strive hard to create an indelible legacy on the lives of Those in need. We finally reached our destination. But before taking off we already made some stakeholder engagement to some of the community members that we will be coming over, therefore before reaching there , they already organized the children to welcome us, it was still raining whilst we arrived. They immediately welcomed us and we made our intentions clear once again to all the community members and the school pupils. Whilst we were at the school, we identified other pressing issues other than school materials, the school itself is in a very bad situation, school pupils used bear floor to sit, the school is not paved and it’s rapped with bags all over. The poor situation of the school cannot be overemphasized as it’s lacking so many amenities. We are asking anyone that may be of interest to pay a visit to this school and provide them with support in whatever they can. We distributed the items to all the sixty children and the remaining materials we gave to the headmaster for the school. As YALI alumni these are the core values that we stand for to be change makers in society. The Yali serves event is celebrated every year to commemorate the life of Nelson Mandela.
Note: we asked beneficiaries for their consent before they were videotaped and they agreed. This event was fully sponsored by us and not any other.

Climate Change Awareness by The Na Iye Jabbie Foundation (NIJF) 27th August,2022. Climate Change is one of the pressing needs global leaders are fighting hard to curtail because of the negative impact it's brings to the wellbeing of the earth and as well as on people. The Na Iye Jabbie Foundation did an amazing volunteering job by embarking on a Sensitization of people living around the Guma valley water catchment area of peninsula Freetown. We did a stakeholders engagement and brief them about the problems and precautions they should take inorder for them not to be victims. They welcomed us all and they were really excited about the initiative. They discussed their challenges and experience so far, they gave some instances where some people have been victims of climate disasters especially during the raining season, two people lost their lives due to over flowing of water. Some pledge to take care of their environment by planting of trees and some by not throwing of dirt's on drainages etc. More than fifty community members were talked to including the community head man, security officers (army, police) for them to carry on the message to their families and neighborhood. This event is part of our annual program
