SOS OLD Students Association

SOS Old students Association Makeni (SOSA) is an association of ex-pupils of SOS makeni School. It held its annual get together at the school compound. The principal aim of SOSA is to reaffirm ex-pupils’ devotion to their alma mater, develop and strengthen relationships between ex-pupils (in Sierra Leone and abroad) and the SOS School makeni and to help bring further improvement in the school and the county. SOSA and the SOS School makeni have made several contributions to the educational, economic, social and cultural development of Sierra Leone in many ways.The SOS old students Association Makeni (SOSA) was formed in 2018. It now has branches all over the world.

As the SOS Old students are engaging themselves to have a peaceful nominations and elections to have their full executive board so shall we expect good leaders with credentials

a) To aid and promote constant contact with SOS Hermann Gmeiner school (hereinafter referred to as “the School”) and to advance the interests of the School.
b) To provide a forum for the Old Students of the School, to participate in cultural, civic, social and sporting activities.
c) To provide scholarships for students and Old Students of the School on such terms and subject to such conditions as shall be approved by the Executive Committee.
d) To maintain a mentorship programme in which Old Students play an active role.
e) To establish linkages and areas of cooperation with the Board of Management of the School, the Parent Teachers Association, and Overseas Chapters of the Association and other sectors of the SOS children’s village Community having aims similar to the Association.
f) To implement, carry out and finance schemes for the development of the infrastructure, facilities, and the academic, cultural and sporting activities of the School.
g) To engage in and carry out such activities as are in the opinion of the Executive Committee or Association conducive to any of these objects.

Mission Statement, Philosophy and Objectives
The Mission of SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International school is to provide a school of academic excellence for students from SOS Children’s Villages from all over Africa, together with students from the host country, Ghana, in a spirit of Pan-Africanism and an awareness of the social needs of society.
The School’s philosophy embraces internationalism in its widest sense, a commitment to uplift Africa and active service to the community. Its educational mission is holistic in nature, aiming to develop all students into confident adults capable of facing the challenges of a fast–changing world, by inculcating in them critical and analytical abilities which will equip them to become compassionate thinkers who are aware of their common humanity, with a belief and pride in themselves as Africans. The College’s ultimate mission is to graduate life-long learners who are fully prepared for the best universities worldwide and who are also committed to putting their knowledge, skills and resources into developing their continent, Africa.
