Ceel Buur is one of the districts in Galguduud region that continue to face huge humanitarian needs particularly the vulnerable IDPs. Over 8K individuals forced to flee their homes in this district as a result of black lion operations.

Innovative solutions such as construction of Haffir dams are emerging as a promising intervention to mitigate climate change impacts and protect vulnerable communities from the effects of drought. To address water scarcity, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Galmudug state, supported by its development partners has heavily invested in the construction of Haffir dams. These reservoirs collect and store rainwater providing a lifeline to rural communities during droughts reducing reliance on polluted water sources.
The 2-day workshop on reviewing the WASH Cluster Strategic Operation Framework ( SOF) was successfully concluded in Kismayo. Yesterday, we conducted El Niño predictions & preparedness meeting at International Medical Corps office in Galkacyo. It was profoundly discussed ongoing activities in preparedness and outlined plans to mitigate the potential effect of flash flood in the event of projected El Niño on IDP camps.
