Time to announce our January tournaments. We will host the Age Group tournaments on January 21st, while our FIDE Rated Rapid and Blitz tournaments are scheduled for January 28th.

AGE GROUP TOURNAMENTS:
As usual, we will have one mixed U10 age group, with awards for top 3 players in the U7, U8, U9 and U10 categories. Separately, we will have the U16 age group, in which we will award the top 3 players with trophies. Please note that we made a small change from last year and we expand the U15 group to U16 for this year.

Our monthly tournaments are open to all players, members or non-members, but there is a limit to 40 players due to the capacity of our club.

You can register for the age group tournament here: https://redknightchess.com/age-group-tournament-registration

FIDE RATED RAPID AND BLITZ TOURNAMENTS:
Our next FIDE Rated Rapid and Blitz Tournaments are coming up on January 28th. The prize fund will be 10,000 THB. Players must have a FIDE Id number in order to join the FIDE Rated tournaments. If you don't have a FIDE Id number and you want to join, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can assist you.

One important change is that we will start at 12:30, instead of 13:00h. In case we have a full house event for the Rapid, we want to make sure that the Rapid tournament will finish on time and the Blitz will not be delayed.

Arrival time is 12:00h.

Our juniors had a blast at the Thailand Youth Rapid Chess Championship that took place in Bangkok in the past three days. Five of our boys and girls became Thailand CHAMPIONS. Huge congratulations to:

- Pine, U16 CHAMPION
- Nina, G14 CHAMPION
- Kate, U12 CHAMPION
- Proud, G10 CHAMPION
- Chin, U08 CHAMPION.

What a remarkable achievement!

Another three trophies went to:

- Gavin, U12 1st Runner-up
- Tada, U16 2nd Runner-up
- Jiajia, U14 2nd Runner-up

Our youngest ones, Panerai, Evie and Plus, won medals.

The success is even bigger since we missed many of our best players at the tournament, such as Ian, Dhi, Pac, Anda, Daisy, JJ, and others. We are proud of all our players who went through three days of very competitive chess and emerged victorious.

*Pine dominated the U16 & U18 combined age groups*

Even though he would often remind us that the rapid time control is not his cup of tea, Pine did a brilliant job at the tournament. With 11 wins, 2 draws and 0 defeats, he never gave his opponents a chance to catch up, winning with full 2 points ahead of the competitors. A well deserved champion title for Pine! In the same group we saw a very unexpected comeback from Tada, who joined after a long absence from the 64 squares and still grabbed the 2nd Runner-up trophy! Well done, boys!

*Nina has no competition in G14 age group*

And the same thing can be said for the two Chiang Mai girls, Sirin in G16 and Araya in G18. In a combined G12+G14+G16+G18 group, each of the 3 girls won one and lost one game against each other, and then they won all the other games, finishing the tournament with 12 points from 13 rounds and 3.5 points ahead of the competition. In the end it was only a confirmation of what we already knew: Nina is G14 rapid chess champion of Thailand.

*The attack on the U12 age group*

What happened in the U12 age group can only be described as EPIC! Missing our Anda, who was suppose to fight for the title in this group but he was not able to join, we did not expect to have players in this group, until two of them decided to take a new challenge. Kate, who decided that there is not much to do in the G12 group and wanted to try her skills against the boys, and Gavin, who stepped out of the U10 group in search for battles with older opponents.

After 13 rounds, Kate showed everyone that girls can be tough in chess too! She won the tournament with 11.5/13 points. Gavin did not start the tournament well, but he showed a fantastic fighting spirit: he climbed back to the top, winning most of the leading players and breaking through to the 1st Runner-up position.

*Proud wins the G10 age group*

Proud did not miss to win yet another champion title in her category. She played very well against her main opponents, but she lost stamina during the long tournament. Still, she was always ahead on the table and her title was never in jeopardy.

*Chin winning U08 is not a surprise*

A tremendous progress in one year for Chin, who proved what you can do with dedication and passion for the game. After winning several school tournaments, he finally shined on the main stage, becoming a rapid chess champion of Thailand in the U08 age group.

A huge shout out to the Red Knight Juniors who dominated the Bangkok Patana Chess Championship, winning 25 out of 40 individual awards! An amazing result that makes us all proud.

The very competitive U18 age group in which out of 19 players, 14 were FIDE Rated, was almost entirely won by our players who took home 4 out of 5 awards. In a surprising turn of events, Nina snatched the first place in the last round by winning the big favorite Ian. The result left Ian at the second place, tied with Arush who got the third place trophy. The only player who disturbed the Red Knight players at the top was Valiliia from Phuket, who had achieved great progress lately. She got the 3rd Runner-up gold medal, while our Pine took the silver.

In the U14, Pac lifted the winners trophy, Jiajia got the 1st Runner-up trophy and Kate got the 3rd Runner-up gold medal.

The U12 age group was dominated by our young star Gavin, who moved up from the U10 age group in a search for challenge and won against higher rated and older opponents with a perfect 6/6 score! What a statement! In the same group, Leah got the 2nd Runner-up trophy.

The U10 age group almost saw the same scenario, as Proud moved from the U9 group to find out if she can win against older opponents. She came super close, getting tied with the equally amazing Dariya with 5.5/6 points. The tie-break did not favor Proud and she lifted the 1st Runner-up trophy. Keith got the 2nd Runner-up trophy, while Lilih took the 3rd Runner-up gold.

In the U9 category Ava did not hold on until the end, having started with a perfect 4/4 score. The pressure in the last two rounds cost her a trophy, but she still did very well to win the 4th Runner-up silver medal.

Another rising star, Chin, won his third consecutive big tournament in the U8 age group, and again with a perfect 6/6 score! Panerai did very well to win the 3rd Runner-up gold medal.

In the U7 age group, Hero won the 2nd Runner-up trophy and Newyear won the 3rd Runner-up gold medal.

Finally, in the U6 age group, Ko and Gabriel won the gold and silver medals.

Congratulations to all! Hopefully this tournament will be an extra motivation to work even harder and to achieve even better results.

Congratulations also to all our other juniors who did not climbed the stage on Sunday, but they did their best as always. In big tournaments such as this one it is not enough to play good, sometimes a little luck is needed too. Keep it up, and fight hard in the next tournament.

See you all very soon.

The titled players dominated the field in the strongest chess tournament that we hosted at Red Knight Chess Club since January this year.

31 players, among which one IM and 4 FM's joined the Rapid tournament. The winner was IM Oleg Badmatsyrenov with 5.5 points, a half point ahead of FM Danil Najdin and FM Masahiro Baba, who won 2nd and 3rd place awards respectively. The Best Junior award went to Thailand's most promising player, FM Prin Laohawirapap, who probably has not won this type of award in a while :)

IM Oleg Badmatsyrenov dominated the Blitz tournament as well, with 8 points out of 9 games. Half point behind him was Louie Salvador, while FM Prin Laohawirapap got the third award with 7 points. 26 players joined the Blitz tournament.

Our next FIDE Rated Rapid & Blitz tournaments will be in a festive atmosphere on December 24. We plan to start the tournament earlier than usual, and aside the regular awards we will have gifts for all players.
