The title of the article is a bit sensationalist. If wanting to build 30 floating homes is the equivalent to "wanting to build a city" then the marina already has more than enough boats for their city.
To the Panama government. I know there are procedures, laws, etc. for creating cities. Please do not take some title of a random news article to imply that I somehow plan on bypassing all legal authority of the country I enjoy living in, the country where I help feed the hungry, the country where Ocean Builders is working to 3D print medical supplies during this pandemic, to somehow construct my own city.
I have never claimed this. Please do not fall into the knee jerk reaction that Thailand fell into claiming first that I wanted to build a nation (while in a nation), and then positing all sorts of logical fallacies based upon than untrue notion.
If wanting to build boats implies wanting to build a city, state, nation...then Lagoon, Catalina and all sorts of other ship manufacturers are guilty of the same. Cruise ship builders literally build cities on the sea, and yet their stated goal is not to build a city.
Our small group of houseboats at best could be described as a floating home owner's association. Or just some vessels in an anchorage, which already exists.

The most tense episode yet in this series...Nadia and Chad's story is certainly one worthy of a feature film. They went from taking part in a small, peaceful experiment on the ocean to being chased from their home and wanted in Thailand under possible penalty of death. I'm happy to say that they are now relatively safe and pushing forward with their work in a more hospitable location even though their issues with Thailand are not resolved. I had the pleasure of meeting them recently and followed their story enough to know what a tragedy it would have been for such decent, peaceful people to wind up in the hands of the Thai authorities. With enough attention, the hope is that they can resolve their issues and be able to live and travel freely without having to look over their shoulders.

A year ago today Nadia and I were on a boat sailing away from Thailand with the Thai navy destroying Ocean Builders' first seastead. They promised Thailand "swift justice" and that they would "find evidence" (you do understand what "we might issue the arrest warrant while we're interrogating them" means right?) to charge us with being a threat to the nation because we lived in a floating home outside of their territorial waters.
It's been over a year and they never found any such evidence that we were a threat. It could be 100 years and they would still never find any such evidence because there is none.
Please share this video and tell Thailand to drop the case against myself and Nadia so she can one day go home and be reunited with her son and her family. They should just admit their mistake so that Nadia and I can move on.
