Chiang Mai Organizes the "Mango Day and Chiang Mai's Best Products 2024"
Chiang Mai province is organizing the "13th Mango Day and Chiang Mai's Best Products 2024" from June 5-7. This event aims to promote the distribution of agricultural products to the market, publicize the quality mangoes of Chiang Mai, and provide knowledge on mango processing and propagation.
Yesterday (June 6, 2024), at the Pracharath Market in front of the Chiang Mai Provincial Government Center, Mr. Chatchawan Panya, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, presided over the opening ceremony of the 13th Mango Day and Chiang Mai's Best Products 2024. The Chiang Mai Provincial Agriculture Office, in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization and the Chiang Mai Mango Farmers Network, organized this event to support and promote farmers, providing them with more channels to distribute their products to the market. Additionally, it aims to publicize Chiang Mai's quality mangoes, known for their fragrant, sweet, and delicious taste, and to promote the market so that farmers can generate income and sustain themselves. There are also educational sessions on mango processing and propagation from various agencies.
Chiang Mai is a significant mango-growing region in Thailand, with 73,000 rai of mango orchards, producing a total of 62,672 tons, with an average yield of 887 kilograms per rai. The main mango varieties include Nam Dok Mai Si Thong, Nam Dok Mai No. 4, Chok Anan, and Maha Chanok. Chiang Mai's mangoes are of high quality, with beautiful shapes, good skin, and delicious taste due to the fertile soil, good sunlight, and cool weather. Additionally, these mangoes are late-season fruits, harvested from May to July, after other regions have finished their season. Another highlight is the cooperation among mango farmers in Chiang Mai, who have formed groups/organizations to control mango quality according to market demand and jointly market their products using community collection points as centers. The Chiang Mai Mango Farmers Network has been established since 2008.
At the event, entrepreneurs will present various fresh mango varieties, quality fancy mangoes, and processed mango products for sale. There will also be exhibitions on mango production knowledge dissemination, competitions for mango produce in over 11 categories, and many other activities. Today (June 1, 2024), in front of Chiang Mai Christian School, the Chiang Mai Municipality, along with various organizations, marched to the area near Tha Phae Gate, Chiang Mai Province, in a procession to kick off the "WE'RE ALL HUMAN" awareness campaign. The Pha Muang Task Force encountered a group of drug traffickers, seizing 200,000 methamphetamine pills in Fang District, Chiang Mai province,
June 1, 2567, at 11:35 a.m. Major General Prapat discovered the drugs and assigned Major General Maitri Srisantia, Deputy Commander of the Pha Muang Task Force, along with other officials, to inspect the scene and hold a press conference. The operation was successful, resulting in the seizure of 200,000 pills of Category 1 drugs (methamphetamine) without any injuries to the task force. The confiscated drugs were handed over to the local police for further legal action.

MU Doctor Warns Public About Consuming Mushrooms During Early Rainy Season

Dr. Rangsarit Kanjanavanit, Head of the Lifelong Learning Center at the Center of Medical Excellence, Faculty of Medicine, CMU, warns that consuming mushrooms during the early rainy season requires caution. He advises careful observation, as some mushrooms can be poisonous and potentially fatal.

Dr. Rangsarit explains that while puffball mushrooms are generally known for their round shape, other similar-looking mushrooms, such as the false truffle, earthball, and earth star mushrooms, can be toxic. These mushrooms often have thick, hard, and rough exteriors, sometimes with a yellow tint or larger than a ping-pong ball. Consuming these can cause gastrointestinal issues like vomiting and diarrhea, typically within 3-4 hours, though they are not usually life-threatening.

Identifying mushrooms is challenging due to their diversity, and Dr. Rangsarit advises against consumption without proper expertise.

He further emphasizes that if someone consumes a poisonous mushroom and experiences symptoms, they should bring a sample of the mushroom to the doctor. Medical professionals can consult with toxicology centers to identify the mushroom and provide appropriate treatment. If symptoms appear within 3-4 hours, supportive care is usually sufficient, and activated charcoal might be administered to alleviate symptoms.

Particular caution is urged with highly toxic mushrooms such as Amanita species, which typically appear from late May to June. Some Amanita species are edible, like those with bright colors (yellow, orange), while the all-white ones can be highly toxic. A crucial identifier is the presence of striations on the cap; lack of these indicates severe toxicity, capable of causing liver failure and death from consuming just one mushroom.
People often prefer consuming Amanita mushrooms while still budding, which makes distinguishing between edible and toxic types difficult. Thus, it is strongly advised to avoid them altogether.
For highly toxic mushrooms, symptoms usually do not appear immediately but after 6 hours or more. If symptoms do occur, immediate medical attention is essential, even if initial symptoms seem to improve, to prevent potentially fatal outcomes.

On May 30, 2024, at the 80th Birthday Anniversary Celebration Hall, Chiang Mai Government Center, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthithaworn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, awarded certificates of excellence to 19 individuals for their outstanding performance in forest fire and haze management during March and April 2024. This recognition aims to honor and encourage the diligent efforts of these workers.
On this occasion, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthithaworn, the Governor of Chiang Mai, expressed his gratitude to all the forest fire fighters who have sacrificed their physical and mental strength, risking various dangers to assist and protect the local people.

Thai Vietjet launches Major Cadet Pilot Training Program
with Bangkok Aviation Center
Thai Vietjet Air Joint Stock Company Ltd (TVJ), the leading new-age carrier in Thailand, is gearing up for substantial fleet and network expansion to meet the increasing demand for air travel.
As a part of its expansion plan, will take delivery of up to 50 new airplanes in 5 years, starting from early 2025.
To respond to the future job demand of professional pilots for such an aggressive fleet expansion, Thai Vietjet, in close collaboration with Bangkok Aviation Center Public Company Ltd (BAC), will very soon be launching a new recruitment campaign for cadet pilots, a comprehensive training program to develop qualified professional commercial airline pilots.
Under Thai Vietjet’s cadet pilots program, BAC will be responsible for the training of Commercial Pilot License (CPL), whereas Thai Vietjet will handle the aircraft type rating training. Upon successful completion of the whole training program, the students will have guarantee employment taking controls as First Officer of Thai Vietjer’s commercial jetliners.
Under the recently signed Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between Thai Vietjet and BAC, both will jointly design and create a rigorous selection process and stringent quality monitoring system to ensure the production of the highest quality of professional commercial airline pilots.
Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Vietjet said: “We are proud to be able to work with BAC in creating opportunity to produce more professional pilots to meet the high demand of pilots in the future. Grand Opening of Chiang Mai Pride 2024
(May 26, 2024), at Thapae Gate in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Chatchawan Panya, the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, presided over the opening ceremony of Chiang Mai Pride 2024. This year, Chiang Mai is the first province to kick off the Pride season nationwide. Since the early evening, the parade has started from the Chiang Mai Buddhist Center to Thapae Gate amidst a joyful atmosphere, with people crowding both sides of the route to watch the parade. Politicians, notable figures, and both Thai and foreign tourists joined this year's parade.
Throughout June 2024, various activities will continue, such as the CM Pride 2024 photo/painting contest, open for submissions from May 1 to 31, academic seminars on gender diversity, fun sports events like high heel races, concerts by famous artists, the Rainbow Street at Rincome Intersection on Thapae Road, the Rainbow Bridge at the Iron Bridge, and the Rainbow Square at Thapae Gate.

Chiang Mai Night Safari Adds Color to the Green Season with "Chiang Mai Night Safari Family Run" Event
At 6:00 AM on May 26, 2024, the Pingkanakorn Development Office (Public Organization), through the Chiang Mai Night Safari Office, organized the "Chiang Mai Night Safari Family Run" sports tourism promotion event. The event was presided over by Ms. Thitirat Tawanwong, Director of Chiang Mai Night Safari Office, and attended by over 300 runners at Chiang Mai Night Safari.
Ms. Thitirat Tawanwong, Director of Chiang Mai Night Safari Office, stated that the "Chiang Mai Night Safari Family Run" event was organized to welcome the green season. This is the first time such an event is being held at Chiang Mai Night Safari to promote sports tourism. Open Arena for Space Exploration Project Design Competition through a Game, Seeking the “Space Youth Champion” of 2024
The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, in collaboration with Private Division, launches the Space Youth Challenge to find the "Space Youth Champion" of 2024. Gamers aged 13-18 are invited to form teams of 5 to compete in designing space exploration projects through the game Kerbal Space Program for a chance to win prizes totaling over 100,000 baht. Applications and submissions are open from now until July 26, 2024.
NARIT, together with Private Division, the developer and distributor of the game Kerbal Space Program, organizes the "Space Youth Challenge: Space Youth Champion" of 2024. Youths aged 13-18 are invited to compete in teams of 5 to design space exploration projects through the Kerbal Space Program, a space simulation game based on realistic space exploration physics. Competitors must create innovative, challenging, and interesting projects that efficiently allocate resources, then present and submit their work in a video format no longer than 6 minutes. The top 10 finalist teams will compete in the final round in August at the National Science and Technology Fair 2024 at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani, for a chance to win prizes totaling over 100,000 baht.

Wall Collapse at On Luai Temple Due to Heavy Rain!!!
On May 21, 2024, continuous heavy rainfall in Mae On District led to the collapse of a wall at On Luai Temple, Village 6, On Nuea Subdistrict, Mae On District, Chiang Mai Province. The wall collapsed for over 10 meters.
The village headman and residents worked together to clear the debris blocking the road last night. Mrs. Subanya Patthanayanyong, the district chief of Mae On, has ordered the security deputy to inspect the site and urgently devise a relief plan. Coordination with the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Buddhism will be made for further inspection and assistance.

Buddhist Community in Chiang Mai Participates in Candle Procession on Visakha Bucha Day 2567
This evening (May 22, 2567), Mr. Niran Phongsitthawat, the Governor of Chiang Mai Province, assigned Mr. Worawit Chaisawat, the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, to lead government officials and the public in observing religious rituals and listening to Dhamma talks by monks on the occasion of Visakha Bucha Day 2567 at Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, to commemorate the enlightenment, and to cultivate spiritual blessings.
On this occasion, Mr. Worawit Chaisawat, the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, led the Buddhist community in circumambulating the main hall of Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn to pay homage to the Triple Gem and to remind oneself of the virtues of the Buddha on this significant day, using candles and flowers as offerings, holding them in their hands while walking three rounds, maintaining a peaceful mind and recollecting the virtues of the Buddha throughout.
