THE END OF CO-DEPENDENCY

You cannot save anyone. You can be present with them, offer your groundedness, your sanity, your peace.

You can even share your path with them, offer your perspective. But you cannot take away their pain.

You cannot walk their path for them. You cannot give answers that are right for them, or even answers they can digest right now. They will have to find their own answers, ask their own questions or lose their own questions, make friends with their own uncertainty. They will need to make their own mistakes, feel their own sorrows, learn their own lessons. If they truly want to be at peace, they will have to trust the path of healing that reveals itself step by step.

But you cannot heal them. You cannot diffuse their fear, their anger, their feelings of powerlessness. You cannot save them, or make things right for them. If you push too hard, they may lose their own unique way. Your way may not be their way.

You did not create their pain. You may have done or not done some things, said or not said some things, triggering pain that was already inside them. But you did not create it, and you are not guilty, even if they say you are. You can take responsibility for your words and deeds, yes, you can grieve over a past, but you cannot erase or change what happened, and you cannot control the future. You can only meet them in the here and now, your only place of power. You are not responsible for their happiness, and they are not responsible for yours.

Your happiness cannot come from outside of you. If it does, it is a dependent happiness, a fragile happiness that will turn to sorrow so quickly. And then you will get caught up in a web of blame and guilt, regret and persecution. Your happiness is directly related to your presence, your connection with your breath, your body, the earth. Your happiness is not small, and cannot be removed by fear, or anger, or the most intense shame. Your happiness is not a state, or a passing experience, or even a feeling that others can give to you. Your happiness is vast, ever-present, the boundless space of the heart, in which joy and sorrow, bliss and boredom, certainty and doubt, loneliness and connection, even fear and longing, can move like the weather, like the rain and the sunshine, all held in the hugeness of the sky.

You cannot save anyone, and you cannot be saved if you are looking to be saved. There is no self to save, no self to lose, no self to defend, no self to make perfect or perfectly happy. Let go of every impossible ideal. You are beautiful in your imperfection, outrageously perfect in your doubts, loveable even in your feelings of unlove-ability. All these parts have been given, all are parts of the whole, and you were never less than whole.

You are breathing. You know you are alive. You have a right to exist, feel what you feel, think what you think. You have a right to your joy and a right to your sorrows. You have a right to doubt too. You have a right to walk your path. You have a right to be right and a right to be wrong, a right to this giant happiness that you knew when you were young. You are breathing, and you are inseparable from the life force that animates all things, knows itself as all beings, discovers itself in every moment of this impossibly wondrous existence.

Your self-worth is not tied to what others think of you. It is tied to the moon, to the infinite expanse of the cosmos, to comets blazing towards unknown destinations, to the forgetting of time and the love of solitude and this unspeakable gratitude for each new dawn, unexpected, given.

Tonight at Orion’s Beach Shala we are going to explore somatic safety. How does it feel to drop into the embodied safety in our Nervous System. How to expand Regulation and Window of Tolerance - which is our capacity to deal with current daily life’s stresses as well as past events.
Next week will the last chance to attend in the “Being Trauma Aware Free Lectures”

Please share.

See you tonight!

21/11/2022

I’d like to invite you to take a part in my free lecture tonight about Trauma Awareness & Nervous System Regulation.

There will be a good dose of psychoeducation about:
What trauma really is,
How does it impact our
Mind & Body & Nervous System,
How to recognize symptoms which might be subtile or very obvious,
How to self-care or support others,
How to actively avoid re-traumatization.
As well as profound practical work in the field of building capacity in the Nervous System and coming back and/or expanding Widow of Tolerance which keeps each of us in the place of somatic safety, goodness and vitality.

“True human enlightenment will only happen when each and every single person on the planet has learned how to regulate their very own nervous system.”

I would like to touch today interesting subject of multitasking and simple antidote to it - REAL Self-care, which is quite different from what a “general public offers as such”. Often each of us have this unrealistic idea that yoga class, spa day, glass of wine or holidays and/or massage session will do the job and switch off stress, recharge and heal us - in fact often it’s otherwise and brings only short therm results. No amount of external self-care will brings us back home without change in the mindset where permissions to be here& now is a priority!

Women are chronic multitaskers, for good reason. Most of us are responsible for taking care of what often feels like too much. We’re forever thinking about who else needs our attention, and what else needs to get done, where else we need to be. We operate on the assumption that we can’t possibly be just where we are, in this present moment. And yet this belief is not only false, but precisely the idea that keep us in a constant state of exhaustion. Always tending to other responsibilities (even if it’s just in your head), unable to let yourself be where you are, you remain chronically depleted.
If you want to heal your exhaustion at a deep level, you must give yourself permission to land in : here, now. Managing, caretaking, providing, and what is essentially working all the time. You are rejuvenated when you let yourself be where you are—just where you are. And furthermore, when you trust that, contrary to everything you’ve ever been taught, the best way to take care of everything else is to take care of this moment right now, and most importantly, to take care of YOU.
Once you get into paying attention to your own attention and redirecting it back to yourself and your own experience—what I call “home” —you are then in possession of a new superpower. At any moment, you can take a break from the internal chatter and busyness of your mind and unhook your attention from the mental work of keeping everyone else okay. Whenever you want or need, you can choose to stop and drop, to make the shift from a human doing to a human being. Self-care from the inside out demands that you start consciously pausing—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. Just by dropping out of your head and into your body, taking one conscious breath, feeling your physical presence, you’re heading in the right direction: away from your head. This simple choice, to shift from an external, focus to an internal, being one—to intentionally get still, go inside, experience yourself here in the present moment—is a profound act of restoring and recharging yourself. Just this is self-care.

In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". Characteristics of wabi-sabi include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature. Wabi-Sabi so often reminds me of widely present in the world - Perfectionism! It’s ok to want to be good, but not if it steals your True Essence! The ones who overwork, anxiously attempting to reach final perfection- all their skin is in the game, chasing some imaginary perfect outcome that will present themselves in the world as good, however conditioning defines it. They might release the thing they’ve been working on, only to be crushed when it isn’t received exactly how they imagined it would be. Defeat. Try try again, this time with more vigour + Repeat.
And then there’s the other side of perfectionism. The side that tried really hard for a long time and now has completely pulled themselves out of the game. The ones that, given a whiff of potential failure, they run away never attempting anything difficult again, hello Procrastination! Perfectionism & Procrastination are on the opposite sides of the spectrum of trauma response as feeling shamed around whole self-expression. Maybe it wasn’t a big thing- maybe you were simply told by someone once that your drawing sucked. Or your voice was off-pitch. Or you ran funny.
Or maybe you learned to behave or emote a certain way because that was what fit in with your family, or because that way got you praise and compliments and love.
However it happened, you learned to hide some of your self to feel good. And you developed a pretty sophisticated way of being that required no coloring outside the lines.

At times life, as beautiful as it is presents us a possibility to notice all the layers and depths of our human existence. There is the Truth of our own values and moral codex at the background which gives us a core of our integrity and authenticity. It’s something what makes us “who we are”and “how do we navigate through out our live’s endeavors”. On the surface there are endless daily challenges occurring to give us a chance to test our integrity of those inner values. How do we compromise our own core versus demands of the reality? How much courage do we have to remain truthful to our own core in face of challenges? Make a bit of time today to reflect on this subject. What are your core values? How will you apply them in all aspects of your life; work, family, friends, hobbies, passions, troubles. When/ Where/ How will you compromise? Perhaps it’s the time to set up or reevaluate your core values? Do it kindly. Do it compassionately. Do it patiently. Do it slow, but do it! To be in your power means to know the self in the core!

You aren’t broken - you’re Kintsugi! Most of us have a chapter in our lives we’d rather forget. Whether it’s a devastating breakup or the death of a loved one, divorce, physical-emotional abuse, chronic neglect, r**e, medical procedures or severe illness, accidents chronic toxic stress … many of us have felt the sting of heartbreak that comes with being a human.

But for those who live with trauma, the memories don’t just live in the past. They live in the present moment, too... trauma may feel like it’s taking over your life. Perhaps you feel alone in your experience, wondering if it will ever feel like less of a big deal!

Two thoughts: You’re not alone, and there is help available. And for those who have been or are going through the darkest places of human existence… There is this 15th-Century practice of kintsugi, meaning “to join with gold”, is a reminder to stay when things fall apart and to honor the flaws and missteps of life. Trauma leaves us with un-removable scars, which makes you absolutely unique and those scares doesn’t have to be hidden - can be filled up with gold and show your enormous strength as survivor.

Morning Time carries very special energy, simply speaking that’s our best chance to set intension and quality for the rest of the day. The time when you are waking up is especially potent (but you can catch this moment anytime during the day or night). Notice quality of your thoughts, your general mood and your internal bodily sensations. Create change over time and devote a couple of minutes to bring up connection to your body awareness. How about to focus gently and notice any thoughts, feelings or bodily sensations in the time of waking up? What ever it is ; sad, grumpy, angry, disappointed, stressed, tired, irritated, overwhelmed, hangover soar, joyful, happy, balanced, sleepy, warm, cold, buzzing, soft, tense, relaxed… first just notice! Without any label of good or bad, desirable or undesirable! Just notice, here you practice your presence in the moment and the most authentic self-care! This is great start to discover power of NOW and the basic Nervous System Regulation which leads you to the Somatic Safety aka Ventral Vegal - “social engagement” branch of Parasympathetic Nervous System which has incredible effect on your quality of life. Ventral Vegal on board is exactly where you want to be, so you act and live your life from the embodied safety, inner-balance and inner-trust vs stored primitive survival energy of unnoticed stored chronic stress, anxiety or trauma.

Comfort vs discomfort … there is such interesting and vast range in between… where are you right now? Are you fully aware of your situation? Do you experience your life through all your senses? What your body is saying? Where are your thoughts taking you ? Do you feel your emotions? Are you fully alive?

… Let the body speaks it’s mind …

Felt sense;

The Physical ( external) senses of sight, sound, smell, touch and taste are elements that contribute only a portion of information that builds foundation for the felt sense.
Other important data are derived from our body’s internal awareness:
position it takes, tension it has, the movement it makes, temperature etc.

The felt sense can be influenced by our thoughts - even changed by our thoughts, yet it’s not a thought, it’s something we feel.

The felt sense is something vague, always complex and ever-changing.
It moves, shifts and transform constantly. It can vary in intensity and clarity, enabling us to shift our perception.
It’s so integrated to our experience of being human that we take it for granted, sometimes to the point of not even realizing that it exists until we deliberately attend to it.

Western culture doesn’t teach us to experience ourselves this way. We are thought to read, write, calculate… it never gets mentioned at home, at school, on the street… most people use this sense everyday, but few of us consciously acknowledge it or cultivate it...

The felt sense help people more natural, grounded, more at home with their bodies. It heightens sensual experiences, improves memory and creativity.

It is form of the felt sense that we experience well-being, peace and connectedness … it’s great doorway to spiritual states… — at The Yoga House Cafe.

Beautiful way of seeing such an uneasy subject as abortion 🤍🤍🤍

In Japan where I live, abortion is viewed in a different way. Here many people believe the spirits of the unborn have countless opportunities to incarnate, and so if a mother chooses not to give birth it doesn't mean the spirit can't try again. The view that the unborn are spiritual beings that deserve our love and respect is shared, but women who have abortions are spiritual beings as well, and it is their right to choose.

Even knowing this, many women will feel guilt or regret for their decision. So, if you go to cemeteries near temples one often sees statues of Jizo Bodhisattvas with hats or scarves, some holding infants in their arms (like in this photo) symbolizing infants who died and/or unborn spirits aborted or miscarried.

Women and parents will come to grieve and pray, ask for forgiveness, wish for the future happiness and return of the unborn spirit that had wanted to incarnate.

I've heard some Westerners say that the Japanese use abortion as a form of birth control. I don't think that is true at all. Most that I know take pregancy very very seriously. To have an abortion is a tragedy. But it's also a part of the cosmic cycling of spirit from life to life. In Eastern spiritual traditions, death is viewed differently, not as final. And life is deeply cherished. To some Westerners this may seem paradoxical.

I speak Energy & see Souls ….

Ask permission:
🌱Before cutting the branch of a tree or removing a flower, tell the spirit of the tree or plant what you are going to do, so that they can withdraw their energy from that place and not feel the cut so strong.
When you go to nature and want to take a stone that was in the river, ask the river keeper if he allows you to take one of his sacred stones.
If you have to climb a mountain or make a pilgrimage through the jungle, ask permission from the spirits and guardians of the place. It is very important that you communicate even if you do not feel, do not listen or do not see. Enter with respect to each place, since Nature listens to you, sees you and feels you.
Every movement you make in the microcosm generates a great impact on the macrocosm.
When you approach an animal, give thanks for the medicine it has for you.
Honor life in its many forms and be aware that each being is fulfilling its purpose, nothing was created to fill spaces, everything and everyone is here remembering our mission, remembering who we are and awakening from the sacred dream to return home. ~

I’m a big fan of women who snort when they laugh.
Women who overshare awkward truths when the conversation stalls.
I’m a big believer in singing loudly in the car whenever possible
and I love pulling alongside a fellow diva doing the same.
I’m a big fan of women who love women,
who spot toilet paper on the shoes and help each other out,
when Mother Nature calls.
I’m a huge believer in comparison being the thief of joy,
that dimming someone else’s light, won’t ever make yours shine brighter.
I just can’t get enough of those women who are unashamedly themselves,
in technicolour glory.
I’m a lover of laughter and those moments when the tears start to flow,
give me life.
I think the best therapy, is quality time with a friend who listens without judgement.
I’m a big fan of women who break, who share,
who rebuild each other and cheer them along the way.
I’m grateful for this world half-full of fabulous females,
I see you all.

THE CONCEPT OF TIME!

Since 6 years I live in one of the South East Asian tropical island, called Koh Phangan.

Here I follow 7days of workweek, without hype of the weekend. I follow Buddhist calendar which is 543 years ahead of Gregorian Calendar- so I’m in year 2565 BE😅

Weather, which is another way of following changes has only two seasons here : dry & rainy.

Before Covid we would have here two types of life experiences:
•high season when island would be overcrowded, overpriced & groovy
•low season when island gets livable, enjoyable, quiet, peaceful either too hot or either too rainy 😅

The calendar and sense of time in the western way of understanding it is more and more just an uncomfortable construct, with makes no sense to me. The only time is NOW.

One of my favorite quotes is by Abhijit Naskar, the author of
“Love, God & Neurons: Memoir of a scientist who found himself by getting lost."
He said, “Time is basically an illusion created by the mind to aid in our sense of temporal presence in the vast ocean of space. Without the neurons to create a virtual perception of the past and the future based on all our experiences, there is no actual existence of the past and the future. All that there is, is the present.”
