The innocence of E.T. and his friendship with Elliot, showing that communication with a different being is possible, deeply moved me. I wanted to reflect this feeling in my design, and so I designed a chair that captures the cuteness of E.T. and the warmth of his friendship.

The chair was designed based on the iconic features of E.T.:

The backrest resembles a round shape reminiscent of E.T.’s large head.

The chair legs resemble the long fingers of E.T.

The armrests resemble E.T.’s arms and give the user a feeling of being hugged. The chair body is made of plastic, while the legs are designed to be metal or solid wood. With its two side characters, the chair carries an iconic object quality.

Additionally, the infinite decimal places of Pi, being an irrational number, carry significant symbolic meanings in mathematical and philosophical contexts. The Pi symbol reminds us that while it symbolizes infinity mathematically, it also reminds us of the finite nature of human existence.

Visually, in the design of the table’s foot, the limited angles of the compass create sharp lines, symbolizing the finite nature of human perception. Crafted from burnt oak, the table exudes a powerful stance, while the metallic elements supporting the junction of the two legs ensure static balance. This design essence forms the core of our philosophy.

The table’s dynamic construction, which can integrate into variability, facilitates industrial sustainable production processes. Furthermore, with minimal assembly times, the industrial solid legs contribute to environmentally respectful practices.

In co-working offices or various other spaces, the table offers multiple alternatives to choose from.
