Leadership is not just about individuals; it is a social process. Leadership takes place in interactions and exchanges between people through collaboration. It is important to examine how the entire system is involved in the realization of leadership, rather than placing all the weight of leadership on individual managers and their abilities.

🔸Therefore, whether within a team, workgroup, task force, division, department, community, or an entire organization, there must be a clear sense of common direction, cohesion, and commitment. The group needs agreement on the direction and what they are trying to achieve together, and committed members prioritize the success of the collective.

🔸New research from our academic partner, the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), DAC (Direction, Cohesion, and Commitment) explains how a leader can enable effective collaboration to drive corporate success. Saying “a leader who saves the world” may sound like a movie character to you. But do you know that you can save the world by saving 2 cm of soil?🌎

The world is inspired by a wise man, Jagadish "Jaggi" Vasudev (born 1957), better known as Sadhguru and his movement called SAVESOIL. Having traveled 30,000 km from the UK to India through 25 countries in 100 days, he set off on his motorcycle a while ago to find the inner leaders who will save the world and the children of the future and tell everyone about the SAVESOIL movement.

Sadguru & SAVESOIL volunteers visited also Istanbul on the date of “World Children’s Day” and “The Earth Day”. His team invited 41 North Business School & its Alumni to SAVESOIL movement, which he started, bringing together sensitive citizens, leaders, and experts from all over the world on topics such as how to defend Soil Health and how to increase organic content in the soil. This powerful movement is supported by ministries and educational institutions in dozens of countries every year.

However, soil health still needs supportive policies in every nation, and policies need the leaders’ commitments.

No matter what field we work in, the key to successful leadership is using stories in the leadership journey. Successful leaders set themselves apart by not only presenting data, but also by telling great stories. Because leaders who are successful storytellers can move people and spark their imagination.

Remember that when you emotionally connect with your audience, they will be less defensive and more open to your ideas. That's why storytelling is one of the most effective ways to build an emotional connection with your audience. To get your teams to share your ideas or convince someone important to you, you should try telling your story rather than the data you have.

🔸3 Benefits of Storytelling in Leadership;

• Builds Bonds; The narrator and listener may be strangers before the narrative begins, but they begin to get to know each other as the story begins. Because we humans can internalize the situation with which we connect and relate. Give people anecdotes that can connect with you and your story.

• Is Memorable; If you convey the message you want to give to people with a story instead of saying it directly, it will be more effective. Such narratives activate permanent memory while engaging the audience.
