Took a walk…

Today a man grabbed me inappropriately in public while I was off the ship and the fearless ,strong fighter with the big mouth and sassy ways was reduced to feeling helpless ,weak and embarrassed… then I thought dam I wish I had my pepper spray or a taser.. Then I thought about some of the
Things Women do that men don’t have to worry about…..

1. Carrying your keys in your hand as a “weapon” when walking alone at night.

2. And turning your headphones off to make sure you’re not being followed.

3. Nailing the “I’m-walking-quickly-but-not-so-quick-that-you’ll-sense-my-fear” pace when someone is behind you.

4. Calling friends when alone in a taxi/Uber in order to feel safe.

5. Or texting them your driver’s details “just in case”.

6. Messaging them when you get home to let them know you’re OK.

7. Sitting near other women on public transport to minimise the risk of being harassed/attacked.

8. Avoiding being out altogether if it’s too early in the morning or too late at night because it doesn’t seem safe.

9. Pretending to be on the phone in any number of situations to avoid harassment.

10. Wearing a wedding ring to reduce the chances of men hitting on/harassing you, because they respect another man’s “property” more than a woman’s right to say no.

11. Giving men fake names and phone numbers rather than risking their anger at being rejected.

12. Staying silent when being verbally harassed out of fear if you fight back it’ll turn violent.

13. Keeping your drink covered with your hand and getting your friend to watch it if you need to go to the bathroom at a bar so that it doesn’t get spiked.

14. Making sure a friend always knows where you are if you’re going on a first date with a stranger.

I honestly didn’t want to make this post.. but we post all the good so why not the bad…
This list is just a small sample I found online and trust me I can go on and on…

You were supposed to grow old with juliet and dance at your children’s graduations and weddings.. you were supposed to sing at my wedding and tell my future husband how to deal with my crazy behavior.. we had so many plans Sammy but I guess the creator had another… I am so broken hearted 💔 how can I say good bye to you baby brother?? Some how I feel like I’m asleep and having the worst nightmare ever.. somebody wake me up! I am so scared to come home.. to face you means it’s real.. I am scared to see you kids in pain and you know seeing them cry destroys me .. Life and death is just something I could never understand… fly on to glory my brother and keep watching over us🕊

Tea Time: 💕 I don’t care how hot it is outside I’m having tea ☕️ I got all types of tea but my mom and dad’s Moringa and Turmeric is my favorite… it’s organic ,planted and harvested by them.. so it’s like having a bit of home with me at all times 🥰

I woke up feel particularly negative today… ok not negative just drained. my mom isn’t 100% and I’m not able to be there physically.. ( thank goodness for the internet and phones!)
I decided to color and remind my self that even when your having a bad day you can make the effort to turn it around… out of the blue my sweet vegan friend knocked on my door to give me a gift 🎁 this really helped to raise my spirits… 😊
