Depression is one of the most common mental health challenges globally, with an estimated 1 in 4 persons having experienced it in any given year. Also called Major Depressive Disorder or Clinical Depression, people living with this illness may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and may sometimes feel as if life isn't worth living. But don't get discouraged, it is very treatable, although it may require long-term, intermittent treatment. Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy or both.

Our Yoga for Neurodiversity class focuses on approaches that aid in calming the nervous system, regulating emotions, improving concentration, and managing social interaction. Yoga is not a quick-fix or cure for neurodivergence, nor does it replace your child’s medical or mental health treatments, however, new research demonstrates its effect as a complementary tool in overall wellbeing for children with neurodivergence.
Over time you will experience subtle and not-so-subtle changes in the way that your child feels about themselves, interacts with others and self monitors their emotions. We aim, through our class to help create an environment within the physical, mental, and spiritual body that promotes health and healing.
We will train them to use their focus and breathing to regulate their nervous system so that they feel better able to regulate their emotions. They will learn how to feel their physical bodies in different ways - from both inside and outside - which aids in improving balance, strength, and motor control to reduce the occurrence of injury and illness. We will use strategies to improve low frustration tolerance and mood swing tendencies. Our class is also tailored to help them change the relationship they have with their thoughts, improve self-esteem and even embrace their different ways of being in the world.
We don’t aim to ‘fix’ or change the way your child’s brain works, but rather, to help them manage themselves in the midst of it.
