Carenet Health, an advanced healthcare business support organization (BSO), has announced that it will open a new solution delivery centre in Trinidad and Tobago in Q4 2024. The investment was facilitated over a period of 10 months by InvesTT which is now part of the recently established Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.

Thanks to the dedication and leadership of Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, who piloted the debate on The National Musical Instrument Bill, 2024 in the House of Representatives; the steelpan is now officially recognized as the National Instrument of Trinidad & Tobago!

This iconic instrument, born from the creativity and resilience of our nation, is now enshrined as a symbol of our cultural heartbeat. From the pulsating rhythms of Carnival to soul-stirring melodies, the steelpan captures the essence of who we are.

This week, we welcomed senior representatives of the China Building Materials Market Association - a national and industrial social organization voluntarily formed by enterprises and public service units and individuals engaged in building materials market construction and operation management, building materials production and operation, scientific research, etc.

As a first-level industry association of China's building materials industry, they are responsible for the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Trinidad and Tobago with a focus on technical standard systems, smooth trade and logistics, capital flows and information exchanges.

Today they visit e TecK's Phoenix Park Industrial Estate to explore possibilities for their members to establish manufacturing factories here in T&T, from where they can easily access neighbouring Caribbean and North American markets.

FIRST MOVERS at e TecK’s Phoenix Park Industrial Estate (PPIE):

InvesTT’s Investor Services team met today with key officials of some of the first companies that will formally begin manufacturing /warehousing operations out of the Estate within the coming months - Enersphere Caribbean Limited (manufacturers of composite poles) and SM Jaleel & Company Ltd (manufacturers of non-alcoholic beverages).

During the tours of their factory shells, we were provided with some exciting insights into their upcoming operational plans at the PPIE. Our team is happy to support them during their onboarding stage – welcome to Phoenix Park!

InvesTT's president, Sekou Alleyne, had the pleasure of meeting with an executive delegation from Taizhou – a city located in the middle of the East China Sea Coast of Zhejiang province, just 30km south of Shanghai, China.

The delegation, led by Mr. Miao Weilun - Deputy Secretary of the CPC Taizhou Municipal Committee, arrived in (T&T) this week to meet with government officials and to take a look at e TecK’s Phoenix Park Industrial Estate (PPIE) - the first project in the Caribbean to be completed under the Belt & Road Initiative. PPIE was constructed by the Beijing Construction Engineering Group under the astute management of e TecK and was formally opened in January 2024.

Given that over 174 manufacturers in Taizhou already export plastic products, steel items and autoparts to T&T, there is great potential for the PPIE to become a new base from which they can serve local and regional markets. The Taizhou delegation has been promoting the Estate to private entrepreneurs in Taizhou and will continue their promotion upon their return home, armed with pertinent information on T&T's business/investment environment.

In 2023, Summit (TT) Luggage, a company with headquarters in Guangdong, China, was the first mover to the PPIE and currently manufactures and exports from Pt. The InvesTT team had the pleasure of being hosted by National Energy Corporation of Trinidad (NE) on a tour of the commercial spaces for lease in La Brea, Trinidad. The tour held on Wednesday 17th April included stops at the Port of Brighton, Union Industrial Estate, and La Brea Industrial Estate.

The People’s Daily of China's representing journalist interviewed InvesTT’s President, Mr. Sekou Alleyne at InvesTT's office at the International Waterfront Complex, Port of Spain on April 12th. The interview focused on the agency’s role in the promotion of the Phoenix Park Industrial Estate (PPIE).
The People’s Daily, noted as the highest state media in China and having global influence, visited Trinidad and Tobago to conduct special coverage of the PPIE. The interview was part of this coverage and was initiated by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago who shared, “This is an important opportunity to demonstrate the significance of PPIE as the milestone of bilateral cooperation between the two countries under the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ and Trinidad and Tobago’s persistent endeavours to realize economic development in a diversified and sustainable way.”

Q&A: In Trinidad, Scottish BPO Exec Finds More than ‘Bare Feet and White Sand’ - Nearshore Americas In our latest Q&A, we spoke with the CEO of Scottish BPO firm Ascensos about what drew him to begin Ascensos' American venture in Trinidad & Tobago.

We congratulate Hesma Tyson, Managing Director of Caribbean Specialty Foods Co. Ltd., who was selected by UN Women Caribbean to attend The International Woman Leadership Conference in Dubai from March 20th to 22nd 2024. The Conference was organized by Ibukun Awosika Leadership Academy in partnership with Dubai Tourism and Dubai Events.

Under the theme, "Women in Leadership...Leading with Courage!", the primary objective of the Conference was to convene a carefully selected group of accomplished women in executive positions. Over three days, the program aimed “to provide valuable insights, foster vital connections, and empower female participants to reach their full potential, while also enabling sustainable peer mentorship opportunities.”

During her time at the Conference, Hesma shared some of her products with His Royal Highness Sanusi of Nigeria and presented the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, the steel pan, to Ms. Hoor Mohammad Noor Abdulaziz Alkhaja, Acting Senior Vice President, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
