AC repair call out job "Mother's day morning"
Customer called, can't find an ac company open this morning.

Complaint:
1> No Cooling
2> Grating noise coming from compressor area every 5 sec or so.

Observation:
Upon inspection observed that soot and burnt marks on compressor tubing/ and unit body sheeting.
The compressor wiring sheeting has burnt marks on it.

Diagnosis:
Upon removal of the compressor wiring cap, it was found that the Start wire terminal on the compressor was completely burnt off.
( Hence the reason for strange noise coming the compressor area, It was trying to start every 5 sec or so.

Testing:
The compressor was tested and was not shorted to ground.
The Start winding reading was very high as compared to the Common and Run winding, indicating that the Start winding coil is weak, causing the unit to draw high amperage.

Prognosis:
The unit was temporarily repaired and cooling was restored.
The Starting coil of the compressor will eventually go in a week or so, causing the compressor to fail.

Recommendation:
The customer was advised that he needs to get a new compressor for the unit at his earliest convenience.
