Ambassador Bowman’s albeit unofficial visit to Singapore, allowed her to appreciate the very useful work being done by our country‘s Honorary Consul to Singapore, the Honourable Philippe May. Her Excellency was also able to make presentations to Brazil’s Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Eugenia Barthelmess (at Brazil‘s National Day Reception ), and to Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to CARICOM, H.E. Karen Tan. Meeting the Cuban and Venezuelan Ambassadors to Singapore, as well as visiting historical sites of this amazing country contributed to our Ambassador‘s very worthwhile visit. 🇻🇨🇸🇬
Prior to its launch, THE STORY OF PAULENE BRAMBLE Book One: Spring’s Blossoms and Young Thorns (2024), by Richard A. Byron-Cox, has made its way to our Embassy’s Reading Room !! Hot off the press, Dr. Byron-Cox’s latest publication is described as ‘an intimate tale of the road travelled by former slaves...and the all but dehumanised of the Caribbean, in the hope for their humanisation ‘. This gift of a real Vincentian / Caribbean story, needed to be told.💙💛💚

The 2024 Vincentian recipients are Disel S. Cupid, Danielle Y. Jackson, Oshboorne U. Phillips and Nicketha N. Toney. 🇻🇨

Ambassador Bowman delivered a powerful speech titled “The Frontline of Climate Change” at the International Partnership Forum for Sustainability, organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) on August 8th. She highlighted the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, emphasizing that small island developing states like ours are on the frontlines of this global crisis.
In her presentation, she included these sobering words from Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Ralph Gonsalves, underscoring the severe economic damage we’ve endured over the years. From Hurricane Lily in 2002 to Beryl in 2024, our nation has faced 10 major weather events, leading to over a billion US dollars in damage.
As our ambassador emphasized, the time for stronger international cooperation and immediate action is now. Together, we must fight to protect our planet and secure a sustainable future for all.
Thursday 8th August, 2024, 'twas a Happy Fifth Anniversary Celebration of the Opening of our Embassy at the ABV Caribbean Bar and Restaurant! Mr. Connell also launched his website CARIBBEAN TO TAIWAN, which presents seamless pathways to the five Caribbean destinations of Haiti, SVG, SLU, SKN and Belize. 🇧🇿🇭🇹🇰🇳🇱🇨🇻🇨
We congratulate the 5 groups, comprising a total of 29 university students, for thoroughly preparing and presenting 10 minute projects on enhancing the diplomatic alliance between SVG and Taiwan. In delivering the Guest Remarks at the Press Conference for the 2024 Presidential Hackathon International Track on 11/’07/‘24, Ambassador Bowman highlighted the following:
This project invites participants to ’propose solutions‘ and of course these are the solutions which we need to fix our world. Solutions designed for implementation in Taiwan are not restricted to Taiwan. The solutions generated by the International Track are being presented on the perfect platform for global implementation. Our 21st century reality impresses upon us everyday the absence of borders among our countries. Pandemics; the climate crises; the impacts of wars on trade, world migration and livelihoods; all demonstrate to us that national borders are artificial. There are no borders in the global sphere. Therefore, this year’s Hackathon‘s theme with its emphasis on Public Infrastructure and Services, clearly targets public health structures; public climate mitigation and resilience structures; structures which are inevitably internationalist with a mandate to safeguard and to fix our broken world.
