I love to bring a little magic to your newborn images! Sometimes during a session I will take photos of a set up that looks a little odd - my little brown doughnut beanbag looks especially strange in person but there is method in the madness I promise. Using these strange looking set ups I'm able to combine your babys' image with pre photographed sets, allowing me to give you a beautiful gallery without flowers everywhere in the studio or rainbow buttons scattered across the floor 😄
This little lady is just a couple of weeks old here & snoozing happily, I take reservations for your due date from 16 weeks pregnant & offer some newborn options up to 10 weeks if you prefer to wait. I love Cake Smash sessions! Such a fun way to celebrate a massive milestone in babies' & your lives, 'A whole year of you'
If your toddler is gearing up for their cake smash photoshoot, to ensure the session goes off without a hitch, ensure your child is well-rested, in good health, and just slightly hungry. Then, it's time to let them dive into the cake! 🎂We take lots of breaks & depending on the package you choose we will shoot for short bursts & let little one rest in between; being the centre of attention is a tough gig! (There may even be some cake spare to take home to treat yourself from our amazing baker).

I accept bookings from right up until baby is here but to give you the absolute best experience in your portrait session & beyond, I only work with a handful of families each month. Pencilling in early is ideal to ensure I have a space for you when baby arrives wether we go for teeny tiny or 10 weeks.

Babies are amazing! They can curl into the squishiest shapes like in the womb until they are a few weeks old. In the studio I create a cosy atmosphere to help them drift off & be incredibly comfortable during their This involves rainforest white noise, cuddles & milk, a pacifier if baby takes one. All of this works with my knowledge of babies inbuilt biological cues and reflexes. After working with around 2000 babies I have learned to read them well!
To get a pose 'just so' but in the easiest way for baby I'll occasionally ask you to pop a finger here or there to support & use a little magic to combine multiple frames for the finished result. Cheating? Maybe...Comfortable for baby? Absolutely.

It's our Taipeiversary! Ah where has a year gone? It's certainly been an adventure settling here with new jobs, schools & moving my business. Are you considering or have you made more than one move already?

Here are three valuable tips to help your kids settle into their new home with ease. Change can be an exciting journey!
1. I let my kids pack a 'no holds barred box', if it fit in the box & they wanted it to make their new space their own, I couldn't interfere. Did we pack some crap that has never seen the light of day? Absolutely, did it help? Also yes. side note - vac packed stuffies take up way less room and you may be able to sneak some into your brothers box...
2. It's ok to be excited overwhelmed and sad all at the same time! It's also good to let your kids know that they aren't alone in those feelings and that you can work through it together. As you put yourself out there and meet wonderful people in the same boat life will settle into a new rhythm. 3. Find your tribe, Expat communities are ever changing with people arriving and also relocating. This makes them extra welcoming to new faces! Social media groups are invaluable, join all of the local ones, the kids school WhatsApp (or Line here in Asia) find the ones that serve you and reach out, you never know who you will meet :)

☀️Half term inbound! Are you heading away? When the sun is high, capturing candid moments can be a challenge. Here are my top 3 tips to help you take stunning even in harsh light. 📸🌞

1. Find Shade or Create Soft Lighting:
Look for natural open shade, like just under a tree or near a building, to avoid harsh direct sunlight. Stand your subject just into the shade & have them facing a bright area (and watch for dapples through leaves on the face!) Soft even light is the goal. Funky buildings with some shade make a great backdrop, stand your subject a little off the wall for some depth.
Squinty pandas is not the goal. Awesome view & no shade? Try and get the sun at an angle behind the subject so you can get comfortable faces and open eyes - you may even get some artistic sun flare.

2. Use HDR Mode & Portrait:
Many smartphone cameras have High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode. Turn it on to capture more details in both bright and shadowy areas of your photo. HDR will take multiple shots at different exposures and blend them for a well-balanced image. Portrait mode can soften a busy background with harsh light, check out the 'lighting' options in there too, studio light mode is flattering.

3. Adjust Exposure and Focus Manually:
Most smartphone cameras let you to tap on the screen to set the focus and exposure point manually. This can help you control the brightness and contrast of your shot. Tap on the brightest area to darken the exposure and tap on the subject to make it the focal point. Experiment with these taps to find the right balance for your scene - clicking something thats a midtone and level with your subject will help balance out the strong light and dark areas. Slide the little sun up or down once you have tapped to focus and adjust for the perfect shot.

If in doubt, take the photo - a memory is still priceless even without the perfect shot & will make you smile in years to come. Get comfortable with your phone camera options in advance with objects that don't complain or demand biscuits (the cat is out too) then when the moment arises you're confident and good to go.

Babies love to be snug and swaddled, it calms their reflex movements and startle mechanisms & is reminiscent of the womb environment (as is noise, at a session the rainforest birds & rain are soothing - babies are not used to quiet!)

Whilst the way we wrap in the studio is very specific to support baby in a particular way to photograph you can get the same calming effect with a swaddle at home.
How to Swaddle:
Step 1: Position a blanket like a diamond on a flat surface.
Step 2: Fold the top corner down.
Step 3: Place the baby on his back with his neck over the fold.
Step 4: Hold his left arm against his side.
Step 5: Pull the left corner of the blanket across the body. Tuck the extra material under his back with his right arm still out.
Step 6: Pull the bottom corner of the blanket up over his right shoulder. Make sure to leave room for him to bend his legs. Tuck extra material behind his back.
Step 7: Hold his right arm against his side. Pull the right corner all the way across. Wrap underneath. Make sure his hips can move and the blanket is not too tight. You should be able to fit two or three fingers between his chest and the swaddle.
Once swaddled, place babies to sleep on their backs, not on their sides or stomachs
