Meander Taipei 台北漫步

我們在晴天的午後，一行人浩浩蕩蕩的到北投走走逛逛。

這次和我們同行的客人剛好都很喜歡用影片跟照片來紀錄生活，所以每到一個景點都會看到他們互相幫忙拍照的可愛場面，在煮溫泉蛋的時候，他們輪著把雞蛋放到泉水裡面，就是為了拍下這值得珍藏的一刻。

接著我們移動復興公園跟當地人一起泡足湯，一開始我們都被泉水的高溫嚇到，但適應後走了一個下午的疲倦也被完美消除。

在談話之中，發現他們都還沒有吃到台灣有名的臭豆腐跟滷肉飯，於是回程的路上一起去了士林夜市，我們去了巷子裡的一間小吃店，滷肉飯上桌的時候大家都忙著拍照，對我們來說平凡的一餐也成為了他們特別的回憶。

On a sunny afternoon, our group set off to stroll around Beitou.

Accompanying us were guests who happened to be fond of capturing life through videos and photos. So, at each scenic spot, we witnessed adorable scenes of them helping each other take photos. Even when boiling eggs in the hot springs, they took turns placing the eggs in the water just to capture that moment worth treasuring.

Next, we moved to Beitou's revitalizing park to soak our feet with the locals. Initially startled by the high temperature of the spring water, we eventually adapted, and the afternoon fatigue was perfectly alleviated.

During our conversations, we discovered that none of them had tried Taiwan's famous stinky tofu or braised pork rice. So, on the way back, we headed to Shilin Night Market together. We visited a small eatery tucked away in an alley where, when the braised pork rice was served, everyone was busy taking photos. What seemed like an ordinary meal to us became a special memory for them.

雨季來襲的前一日，我們撿到一個豔陽高照的一天，和來自荷蘭和菲律賓的Steven、Van一起前往位於瑞芳的鼻頭角步道。這裡一直是我心中最美的踏青步道，背山面海，蜿蜒的小徑雜揉著只屬於夏季的蟬鳴鳥叫，雖然爬得汗流浹背，但煩悶的心情卻能因為眼前無垠的海面而一掃而空。
結束登山行程後我們前往了福隆的秘密海灘，不同於大家熟知的福隆飯店私人海灘，位於東興宮附近的這面海多了分靜謐。我們一邊野餐，一邊聽音樂，看著海面上坐板等浪的衝浪客，聊著各自的生活，在大海的相伴下一起度過了閒適的一天。

The day before the rainy season arrived, we were blessed with a sunny day, and together with Steven and Van from the Netherlands and the Philippines, we headed to the Bitou Cape Trail in Ruifang. This has always been our favorite hiking trail, nestled between mountains and facing the sea, with winding paths intertwined with the chirping of cicadas and birds unique to the summer. Despite the sweat-soaked climb, the oppressive mood dissipated with the boundless sea stretching out before us.

After completing the hiking journey, we ventured to the secret beach in Fulong, different from the well-known private beach of Fulong Resort, this beach near Dongxing Temple had an added touch of tranquility. As we picnicked and listened to music, watching surfers waiting for waves on their boards, we chatted about our lives, spending a leisurely day together accompanied by the vast sea.

暮春午後，烈日雖沒入雲層，呼吸著濕熱的空氣，而感夏日漸近，然眾人仍懷期待之感訪龍山寺。
談論著這趟來台之旅去了哪，未來的計畫與行程，在彼此談笑之間進入了剝皮寮歷史街區。踩在西門柏油路，欣賞萬華古建築，匆匆流逝的時間在這塊歷史街區留下歲月的痕跡，清代的過往仍歷歷在目，日治的往昔亦清晰可見，彷彿進入了時光隧道，如夢似境。
步入龍山寺，映入眼簾的莊嚴大門，兩側靜心瀑布與魚池，使眾人大開眼界。介紹擲筊後，眾人開始體驗，嘗試悠久習俗，誠心取得詩籤，聆聽神明給予的指引，無論靈驗與否，享受此刻的平靜。
每位旅客都像一條線，在Meander相交後，向各處發散，把握每次客人停留於此的時刻，將台灣的美好在短暫的片刻傳遞給每位旅客，或許在未來，彼此還能在某個象限接觸。

On a late spring afternoon, though the scorching sun hadn't yet disappeared behind the clouds, one could feel the approach of summer in the humid air. Despite this, people still harbored a sense of anticipation as they visited Lungshan Temple.

Conversations drifted from discussions about their journey to Taiwan to future plans and itineraries, seamlessly transitioning into the historic district of Bopiliao. Walking along the asphalt roads of Ximending, they admired the ancient buildings of Wanhua, where fleeting time had left its mark on this historical neighborhood. The past of the Qing Dynasty was vividly present, while the era of Japanese rule remained discernible, as if stepping into a tunnel of time, a dreamlike realm.

Entering Lungshan Temple, they were greeted by the solemn main gate and the serene waterfalls and ponds on either side, expanding their horizons. After learning about the practice of throwing divination blocks, they began to experience the ancient custom, earnestly seeking poetic fortunes and listening to the guidance offered by the deities. Whether the results were miraculous or not, they savored the tranquility of the moment.

Each traveler was like a thread, intersecting at Meander before dispersing in various directions, seizing every moment when guests paused here to convey the beauty of Taiwan in those brief instants. Perhaps in the future, they might intersect again in some quadrant.

午後來了一場又大又急的雨，原本以為Tour會無法如期舉行，幸好在臨近出發前終於迎來了沒有雨的陰天。

在中正紀念堂合照時，夥伴自拍只露半臉引起大家熱烈的討論這是不是現在新時代的拍照潮流，歡聲笑語中很快的就拉近彼此距離。

而在夜市享用麻糬冰時，來自美國的Johnson和Sally給予非常高且驚喜的評價，還說如果我們沒有帶他們來吃，只看菜單照片會以為是豬肉呢！

每一場tour對Meander的住客而言都是很特別的體驗與回憶，也讓我們更起勁的想要把台北的美好讓更多人知道。

In the afternoon, a sudden and heavy rain came, making us worry that the tour might not proceed as planned. Fortunately, just before departure, the rain stopped, leaving us with overcast skies.

During our group photo at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a discussion sparked when some of our companions took selfies showing only half of their faces. It seemed to be a trend of the new era, igniting lively conversations and quickly bringing us closer together.

While enjoying mochi ice cream at the night market, Johnson and Sally from the USA gave exceptionally high and pleasantly surprising reviews. They even joked that if we hadn't brought them here to eat, they would have mistaken the menu photos for pork dishes!

Each tour is a special experience and memory for the guests at Meander, inspiring us to strive even harder to share the beauty of Taipei with more people.

今天帶大家體驗淡水老街美食及探訪歷史古蹟紅毛城。雖然天氣預報說會下雨，但當我們一抵達淡水就出大太陽了，非常幸運。

我們品嚐了淡水有名的魚丸湯、蝦捲及阿給，還有我私心推薦的花生捲冰淇淋。

已經74歲卻還獨自四處旅行的Helena說，淡水到處都是她愛吃的海鮮，所以她對每一樣小吃都躍躍欲試。

隨後我們一起參觀融合歷史與建築之美的紅毛城，Laura用她專業的相機紀錄了一切。

夕陽西下，一行人沿著河畔步行回捷運站的途中，買了當地特有的名產「鐵蛋」結束了美好及充實的旅程。

希望大家能珍藏這段寶貴的回憶，懷抱期待再次踏上這片美麗的土地。

Today, we took everyone to experience the delicious food and historical sites in Tamsui Old Street, including a visit to the historic landmark, Fort San Domingo. Despite the weather forecast predicting rain, as soon as we arrived in Tamsui, the sun came out, which was incredibly fortunate.

We indulged in some of Tamsui's famous delicacies, including fish ball soup, shrimp rolls, and oyster omelets, along with my personal recommendation of peanut roll ice cream.

Helena, who is 74 years old and still travels alone, remarked that Tamsui is abundant with her favorite seafood, so she was eager to try every snack available.

Later, we explored Fort San Domingo, a perfect blend of history and architectural beauty, while Laura captured everything with her professional camera.

As the sun set, we strolled along the riverside back to the MRT station, stopping to buy the local specialty, "iron eggs," concluding our wonderful and fulfilling journey.

I hope everyone will cherish these precious memories and eagerly anticipate returning to this beautiful land once again.

我們這次騎車環河的距離總共11.3公里，台北市裡隱藏的腳踏車道與世隔絕就像進到草原中，迎風騎車的感覺非常舒服，來自義大利的Luca還說：「城市河景媲美他去過的塞納河畔」，消耗掉的卡路里也將在下個景點「寧夏夜市」補好補滿，規劃整齊的攤販、英文友善的菜單是最適合旅客的大型夜市之一！

After the terrifying earthquake, we're still operating as usual without any damage. How is everyone doing?

Our bike tour this time covered a total distance of 11.3 kilometers, exploring the hidden bike paths in Taipei City felt like entering a secluded oasis. Riding against the wind was incredibly refreshing. Luca from Italy even remarked, "The urban river scenery rivals that of the Seine River he's visited." After burning calories on the ride, they were replenished at our next destination, Ningxia Night Market. With neatly organized stalls and English-friendly menus, it's one of the most traveler-friendly night markets around!

We welcome every guest staying with us to join this memorable activity. It'll surely make your journey even more unique.

今天我們在剝皮寮和龍山寺度過了美好的一天。雖然一出門就下起了大雨，但幸運的是我們提前為客人準備了雨傘。

在前往鄉土教育中心的路上，我們彼此暢談，向客人簡單介紹了剝皮寮的歷史和特色。抵達後，我們和客人一同挑戰了中心設置的各種童玩，其中最具挑戰性的莫過於夜市常見的「吊酒瓶」。經過一番努力，只有帥氣的Buren成功挑戰了它！Claire還驚呼道：「原來這個酒瓶真的能夠站立！」我們都哈哈大笑起來。

最後，我們來到龍山寺，一進門大家都讚嘆不已，特別是兩旁壯觀的瀑布。我們向大家介紹了台灣人平常的拜拜和求籤方式，大家都積極嘗試求籤。在幫助Adam解籤後，他興奮地表示他得到了非常好的回答。我們都為他感到開心😃，也祝福大家在龍山寺祈求的願望都能實現！

Today we had a wonderful day in Bopiliao and Longshan Temple. Despite the heavy rain as soon as we stepped out, we were fortunate to have prepared umbrellas for our guests in advance.

On our way to the Cultural Education Center, we chatted and briefly introduced the history and features of Bopiliao to our guests. Upon arrival, we all challenged various traditional toys set up in the center, with the most challenging being the "balancing wine bottle" commonly seen in night markets. After some effort, only the dashing Buren successfully conquered it! Claire exclaimed, "So this bottle can actually stand!" We all burst into laughter.

Finally, we arrived at Longshan Temple, and everyone was in awe as soon as we entered, especially at the magnificent waterfalls on both sides. We introduced the usual rituals of praying and fortune drawing to everyone, and they eagerly tried their luck with the fortune sticks. After helping Adam interpret his fortune, he excitedly exclaimed that he received a very positive answer. We were all delighted for him 😃, and we wished everyone's wishes made at Longshan Temple to come true!

漫步在淡水的老街，週三的太陽輕柔地照著Meander的客人。

我們造訪了兩家阿給專賣店，其中一家甚至提供了「周杰倫套餐」，內容是他曾在此享用的美食。Lydia來自香港，特地為此而來，但大家一致認為阿給的味道普通，沒有特別的好壞，即使如此，品嚐阿給的方式卻讓人感到獨特。

在紅毛城的幽靜中，彷彿穿越了三百年的時光隧道，沉浸在寧靜中，遠離了城市的喧囂，來自歐洲的旅客也許能聞到故鄉的氣息。

夕陽西下，我們走到淡水河岸的堤防邊，享受著休息、聊天和觀賞日落的美好時光。

Strolling through the old streets of Tamsui, the Wednesday sun gently bathed the guests of Meander.

We visited two shops specializing in "Ah Gei," one of which even offered the "Jay Chou Combo," featuring dishes the famous singer had once enjoyed there. Lydia, all the way from Hong Kong, came specifically for this experience, though everyone agreed that the taste of the "Ah Gei" was average, neither particularly good nor bad. Nevertheless, the unique way of enjoying it added a special touch to the experience.

在這次我們特地造訪了中正紀念堂，主要是為了觀賞儀仗隊的交接儀式。其中長期居住在漫步的威力，說他上一次觀賞儀式已經是十六年前的小學時代了。他表示下次想要更近距離地觀看降旗儀式。另外，我們還特別為她們翻譯了蔣公的遺囑成英文。

接著，我們帶著兩位來自美國的女孩 Sierra 和 Nicole 前往松山的饒河夜市。她們對台灣的小吃非常感興趣，尤其是 Sierra，這是她在台灣的第一個夜市。我們推薦了她們臭豆腐，但是她們並不太喜歡，不過對蚵仔煎則讚不絕口。另外，我們還介紹了她們木瓜牛奶，兩位女孩都非常喜歡，一下子就喝完了。這次的夜市之旅結束後，我們都度過了愉快的時光。

During this visit, we specifically went to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall primarily to witness the changing of the guards ceremony. It was particularly special for Will, who has been living in Meander for a long time, as he mentioned that the last time he saw the ceremony was sixteen years ago during his elementary school days. He expressed his desire to see the flag-lowering ceremony up close next time. Additionally, we also took the time to translate Chiang Kai-shek's testament into English for them.

Following that, we took two American girls, Sierra and Nicole, to the Raohe Night Market in Songshan. They were very interested in Taiwanese snacks, especially Sierra, as this was her first night market experience in Taiwan. We recommended stinky tofu to them, but they didn't quite enjoy it. However, they couldn't stop praising the oyster omelet. We also introduced them to papaya milk, which they both loved and finished in no time. After this night market tour, we all had a wonderful time.

今天有幸帶領Jasmine和Sarah一同探索台北龍山寺！😊

令人印象深刻的是，Sarah居然能說四國語言，而Elenna竟然能聽懂中文，真是讓整場導覽更加輕鬆有趣！

我們首先造訪了台灣漢堡-刈包，雖然是排隊美食，但似乎不太合她們的胃口。沿途古色古香的騎樓式建築和燕子築巢的象徵也讓她們感到興奮，了解了不少台灣的文化。

在龍山寺，她們喜歡參與互動體驗，抽籤、擲筊，還有頭香和影片分享，讓她們感到驚訝和特別。最後，我們來到廣州街夜市及華西街夜市，特地給她們嚐了臭豆腐，記錄下她們的第一反應，果然，外國人對臭豆腐還是有些害怕呢🤣

整個過程中，大家互相分享了去過的台灣景點，我們也與客人深入交流，竟然忘記了拍照紀錄！下次一定會記得的，謝謝大家的熱情參與，期待下次再相聚！📸✨

Today, I had the pleasure of exploring Taipei's Longshan Temple with Elenna and Sarah! 😊

Impressively, Sarah can speak four languages, and Elenna understands Chinese, making the entire tour much more relaxed and enjoyable!

We first visited the Taiwanese hamburger, Gua Bao, which, despite being a popular food, didn't quite suit their taste buds. The charming traditional arcade-style buildings and the symbolic significance of swallow nests along the way excited them, providing insights into Taiwanese culture.

At Longshan Temple, they enjoyed participating in interactive experiences such as drawing lots, casting divination blocks, and engaging in the rituals of burning incense and sharing videos. They were amazed and found it all quite special. Finally, we explored the Guangzhou Street Night Market and Huaxi Street Night Market. I specially had them try stinky tofu and captured their initial reactions – indeed, foreigners still have some reservations about stinky tofu! 🤣

Throughout the journey, everyone shared their experiences at various Taiwanese attractions. We got so engrossed in conversations with the guests that we forgot to document the moments with photos! 今天我們帶著Meander的住客，從西門到象山，沿途簡單解釋了西門之名的由來，以及這片土地的歷史，與其他類似的古蹟如北門或南門。

從西門到象山的路上，我們彼此介紹了自己，有來自法國、美國、加拿大的朋友。印象深刻的是SARA，在日本度假打工一年後來到台灣，另一位來自澳洲的朋友則是去年在台灣轉機時，對台灣留下深刻印象，今年特地來到這邊停留和旅行。

今天的天氣非常適合遊象山，快要抵達路口時，我們挑了一個好的角度，讓101大樓一同入鏡。象山雖然不高，但沿途樓梯不斷，到達頂峰前，我們休息了兩次。最後在巨石群處，大家在陽光下，流著汗享受微風和美景，體會著這趟愉快的冒險。

Today, we took Meander guests from Ximending to Elephant Mountain, briefly explaining the origin of Ximending's name and the history of the area, along with other historical landmarks like North Gate and South Gate.

During the journey from Ximending to Elephant Mountain, we introduced ourselves. We had friends from France, the United States, and Canada. Notably, there was SARA, who spent a year working holiday in Japan before coming to Taiwan. Another friend from Australia decided to visit Taiwan after being deeply impressed during a layover last year.

The weather was perfect for Elephant Mountain. As we approached the intersection, we chose a great angle to capture 101 Tower in the frame. Despite Elephant Mountain not being very tall, the continuous stairs made the ascent challenging. Before reaching the summit, we took two breaks. Finally, at the boulder area, everyone enjoyed the pleasant adventure, sweating in the sun, feeling the breeze, and soaking in the beautiful scenery.

A day at Meander is just this exciting!

During the Lunar New Year, we took travelers on a stroll through Dihua Street, savoring the festive atmosphere of Taipei.

Wandering through Yongle Fabric Market, experiencing the unique vibes of the old streets, we also introduced the prayer customs at the Xia Hai City God Temple. Sharing some traditional Taiwanese customs, we offered travelers a cultural feast!

After free exploration, we shifted to the Dadaocheng Container Art Market, gathering on the rooftop to enjoy the riverside sunset. Casual conversations, accompanied by delightful music, filled the day with wonderful memories, creating a delightful adventure. 🚗🏨

【Selection 2】Taiwan Konjac Konnyaku Toothpaste
From the Japanese brand "Shimizu," which has pushed the value of konjac to the extreme, using konjac, commonly seen as a food ingredient, as the main component. "Shimizu" has developed various environmentally friendly products in areas ranging from diet to beauty.

In collaboration with Taiwan Konjac, we have specially designed a travel-friendly 50ml "Konnyaku Toothpaste." This toothpaste features natural and gentle amino acids, combined with the classic mint and plant-derived clove extract for a herbal aroma. It is free from SLS, triclosan, preservatives, and artificial sweeteners. What makes it unique is the addition of patented dual-core konjac balls from Japan. Soft and natural, they do not harm enamel, effectively absorb residue in between teeth, and, most importantly, unlike industrially produced plastic microbeads, they are biodegradable and do not pollute the environment.

來自越南胡志明市的品牌Dòng Dòng，名稱源自西貢口音，意味著「四處走走」。這段時間我們一直嘗試著和越南的夥伴學習如何正確發出Dòng Dòng（音似癢癢），對於有點感冒帶些鼻音的人來說，發音聽起來最為接近。

我們會選擇和Dòng Dòng合作，正是因為他們自創立以來，持續堅持著回收大量被使用過，丟棄後就無法分解舊遮陽篷或卡車蓋防水布，製作出能陪伴旅人走遍世界各地的各種獨特包袋。

相較於使用新的、乾淨的材料，回收的帆布需要經過整理與仔細清洗，再涼干，有時需要拆除帆布上的五金、修剪掉破損的部分，剩餘的材料才能裁切製作，手續十分繁瑣，站在商業的考量絕對不是最好的選擇，但他們多年下來的堅持，賦予廢棄的耗材有了新的生命，成為實用的生活、旅行用品，重新賦予它新的價值。

這次由我們提出想法和需求，Dòng Dòng設計出這款多功能盥洗包，除了防水，多層結構設計，方便整理收納各種物品，搭配巧妙的懸掛設計，便於在浴室內吊掛使用。也有有創意的朋友說加上掛繩，就成了外出使用的小肩包。

【Selection 1】Dòng Dòng Waterproof Toiletry Storage Bag

Hailing from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the brand Dòng Dòng gets its name from the Saigon dialect, meaning "wander around." During this time, we've been trying to learn the correct pronunciation of Dòng Dòng from our Vietnamese partners. For those with a slightly nasal sound due to a cold, the pronunciation sounds closest.

We chose to collaborate with Dòng Dòng because, since its inception, they have consistently adhered to recycling large amounts of used, non-decomposable sunshade canvases or truck tarpaulins. These materials are then repurposed into various unique bags that accompany travelers around the world.

Compared to using new, clean materials, recycled canvases require meticulous sorting, thorough cleaning, and sometimes the removal of hardware or trimming damaged parts before the remaining materials can be cut and crafted. This process is quite intricate and, from a business standpoint, not always the most practical choice. However, their years of dedication give discarded materials new life, transforming them into practical everyday and travel items and imbuing them with new value.

For this collaboration, we shared our ideas and needs with Dòng Dòng, and they designed this multifunctional toiletry bag. In addition to being waterproof, it features a multi-layered structure for easy organization of various items. The clever hanging design allows for convenient use by hanging it in the bathroom. Some creative minds even suggested adding a strap, turning it into a small shoulder bag for on-the-go use.

｜A Romantic Dynamic Date in the Sunlit Taipei｜

Even after living in Taipei for many years, taking a sightseeing bus to enjoy the city's view from a higher perspective is still a first-time experience.

Starting from Meander, with the sunlight sprinkling and a gentle breeze, the journey unfolds through the old city area.
