The Materuni waterfall is one of the waterfalls of the Mware River (Kilimanjaro region, northeast Tanzania). It is located in the town of Materuni on the edge of the Kilimanjaro Mountain Reserve. This is orchard territory and has the perfect mix of climate and soil to produce some of the best coffee in africa
. You will visit a coffee farm and learn about how coffee is grown, harvested and processed, and you will try your luck roasting and brewing a fresh cup of Chagga-style coffee. After a delicious coffee break (much better than work!), You will have a beautiful
45 minute walk
through the hills and valleys en route to the Materuni Falls. You will pass
through banana and coffee plantations
, going up and down mini-valleys, through ridges and through narrow streams. Along the way, your guide will teach you about the local plants and how they are used for food and traditional medicine, as well as giving you more information about the local Chagga culture.
