Last week in Pemba, European Union Ambassador Christine Grau 🇪🇺 participated in the launch of the TZS 190 billion Green and Smart Cities SASA Programme in Pemba. 🌱🏙️

This programme aims to boost green infrastructure, enhance public services, and create economic opportunities in the cities of Mwanza, Tanga, and Pemba, with a focus on empowering women, youth, and local businesses. 👩‍🦰👷‍♂️🛠️

The 🇪🇺 European Union (EU) delegation participated in a regional EAC workshop on self-certification of origin.

This event was part of the EU-🌍 World Customs Organization Rules of Origin Africa Program, which aims to facilitate and increase intra-African trade, as well as trade between Africa and Europe 🌍 and the rest of the world 🌐.

🇪🇺European Union Programme Manager Ally Mwinchande is visiting the Lake Victoria Basin Commission offices in Kisumu and a key site identified for High Priority 🚰 Sanitation Infrastructure investment.

This visit is part of the EU-supported regional programme on Integrated Water Resources Management, which aims to safeguard the Lake Victoria Basin.

The 🇪🇺European Union, represented by Mr. Lamine Diallo, Head of Natural Resources, attended the opening of the Energy Audit and Management training at Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology.

Implemented by 🇺🇳UNDP and coordinated by the 🇹🇿Ministry of Energy, this initiative is part of the EU-funded Project.

The program equips 132 public and private energy stakeholders with vital knowledge and skills to enhance energy efficiency across various sectors.

Wakiongozwa na Naibu Katibu Mkuu wa Wizara ya Fedha, Elijah Mwandumbya, timu hiyo ilijumuisha wawakilishi 15 kutoka Ofisi ya Rais, Tume ya Mipango, Benki Kuu, Mamlaka ya Masoko ya Mitaji, Soko la Hisa la Dar na Sekta Binafsi 🏢.

🤝 Ikiungwa mkono na Mpango wa Haitfungani ya Kijani Ulimwenguni wa EU, safari hiyo ililenga fedha za kijani na kijamii ili kufikia SDGs. Wawakilishi wa Tanzania walikutana na wasimamizi wa fedha za kijani, watoaji wa hatifungani za kijani kutoka Ulaya na wawekezaji, ili kuelewa matarajio na kuitangaza Tanzania kimataifa 🌍.

🇪🇺🇹🇿 The EU Delegation to Tanzania accompanied the Tanzanian Green Finance Task Force on a study trip to 🇧🇪📍 Brussels. Led by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Elijah Mwandumbya, the team included 15 representatives from key sectors, such as the President’s office, Planning Commission, Central Bank, Capital markets authority, Dar Stock Exchange, Private sector etc....

🤝 Supported by the EU Global Green Bonds Initiative, the trip focused on green and social finance to achieve SDGs. Tanzanian representatives met with green finance regulators, European issuers of green bonds, and investors to understand expectations and promote Tanzania globally 🌍.

⏭️ The next steps include finalizing the Green Bonds Framework and ongoing bilateral discussions.

📌 The European Union Delegation to Tanzania is thrilled to be in partnership with the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) 🎥 for the 27th Edition of ZIFF!

This year’s theme, "Rejuvenation," perfectly captures the vibrant spirit of African cinema 🎬.

🇪🇺🇹🇿 The European Union has been a consistent partner for ZIFF, and this year will be no different, as through the culture programme, among other things, we will facilitate the Director’s masterclass session to be conducted by a renowned filmmaker targeting in particular young filmmakers.

EU Ambassador to Tanzania, Ms. Christine Grau, said at a press conference on 🗓 16 July 2024, which was aimed at officially announcing ZIFF 2024 activities.

“Expertise France” inathibitisha Usaidizi wa Kiufundi kwa Mpango wa Marekebisho ya Sekta ya Nishati unaofadhiliwa na EU nchini Tanzania ili kusaidia uimarishaji wa uwezo katika takwimu.

Makabidhiano hayo yalifanyika katika kikao cha tatu cha k**ati ya uongozi wa mradi wa takwimu za nishati.

📍 Dar es Salaam: A Laptop hand over to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) aimed at improving the capacity of the institution on energy and climate data collection, management, and synthesis. In the picture is Massimilano Pedretti, Energy Program Manager at the EU Delegation to Tanzania 🇪🇺🇹🇿 and Dr. James Mataragio Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy. 🤝🏾

Expertise France is providing technical assistance to the EU funded Energy Sector Reform Program in Tanzania in order to support the enhancement of capacities in statistics.

The handover was done at the third meeting of the steering committee of the energy statistics project.
