Hiccups (commonly known as Kasikonda in Uganda) are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm — the muscle that separates your chest from your abdomen and plays an important role in breathing. Each contraction is followed by a sudden closure of your vocal cords, which produces the characteristic "hic" sound.

Hiccups may result from a large meal, alcoholic or carbonated beverages or sudden excitement. In some cases, hiccups may be a sign of an underlying medical condition. For most people, a bout of hiccups usually lasts only a few minutes. Rarely, hiccups may persist for months. This can result in weight loss and exhaustion.

Symptoms
Hiccupping is a symptom. It may sometimes be accompanied by a slight tightening sensation in your chest, abdomen or throat.
When to see a medical practitioners:
if your hiccups last more than 48 hours or if they are so severe that they cause problems with eating, sleeping or breathing.

Causes
The most common triggers for hiccups that last less than 48 hours include:
* Drinking carbonated beverages
* Drinking too much alcohol
* Eating too much food
* Excitement or emotional stress
* Sudden temperature changes
* Swallowing air with chewing gum or sucking on sweets
Hiccups that last more than 48 hours may be caused by a variety of factors, which can be grouped into the following categories.
Nerve damage or irritation
A cause of long-term hiccups is damage to or irritation of the vagus nerves or phrenic nerves, which serve the diaphragm muscle. Factors that may cause damage or irritation to these nerves include:
* A hair or something else in your ear touching your eardrum
* A tumor, cyst or goiter in your neck
* Gastroesophageal reflux
* Sore throat or laryngitis
Central nervous system disorders
A tumor or infection in your central nervous system or damage to your central nervous system as a result of trauma can disrupt your body's normal control of the hiccup reflex. Examples include:
* Encephalitis
* Meningitis
* Multiple sclerosis
* Stroke
* Traumatic brain injury
* Tumors
Metabolic disorders and drugs
Long-term hiccups can be triggered by:
* Alcoholism
* Anesthesia
* Barbiturates
* Diabetes
* Electrolyte imbalance
* Kidney disease
* Steroids
* Tranquilizers
Risk factors
Men are much more likely to develop long-term hiccups than women. Other factors that may increase your risk of hiccups include:
* Mental or emotional issues. Anxiety, stress and excitement have been associated with some cases of short-term and long-term hiccups.
* Surgery. Some people develop hiccups after undergoing general anesthesia or after procedures that involve abdominal organs.
Complications
Prolonged hiccups may interfere with:
* Eating
* Sleeping
* Speech
* Wound healing after surgery

So yesterday as I was on my way to Jinja, I saw this kind of headline (see photo attached) on all the dailies. I asked my driver to stop so I could get myself a copy. Right there, I heard some people (who looked educated and smart) talking and exclaiming about how shallow minded we were to vote Bobi "of all people"........
I felt sorry for them but again Realized that there's a lot to learn from this new Honorable.
1). NEVER LET YOUR PAST DEFINE YOUR PRESENT OR YOUR FUTURE.
Bobi Wine had a right to feel like he could never be anything more than a drug king 👑! He didn't allow that part of his story to impede his progress in life. Yes, I know you had a horrible childhood but so what?! Now is the time for you to migrate and relocate to a new circuit. Only use the past to teach you about today, as you prepare for a much better tomorrow.
2). NURTURE THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE.
Nothing good in this world 🌎 has ever been achieved without the spirit of adventure. Bobi wine had always sung songs that sounded like he wanted to communicate the people's voice: but if he had not adventured into politics, they'd still be songs and nothing more. Take a good look at your present circumstances, if they don't look so pleasant (as I presume), then in the name of adventure I implore you to seek to improve regardless of what they say.
As you take on the exciting path of adventure, when people talk negative, listen 👂 to them but behind their backs; you say "nonsense, nonsense and nonsense ".....remember what Bobi Wine did?

3). BE A RISK TAKER
The best things in life are a result of great risks. For example yourself. It was risky for your mum to conceive you in her womb; a lot was at stake including her own life. Anything could have happened. If I may let you know, not taking risks in life is itself a great risk. Bobi Wine contesting for MP was very risky. He risked losing the election, he risked being ridiculed by fellow musicians that we all know. He risked declining academically since he's also a student 👨‍🎓. He risked losing his life knowing the political environment in Uganda 🇺🇬 today. But when he took the risk, he will surely have a state funeral whenever he decides to die. Playing it safe doesn't help.

In brief, GREAT RISK EQUALS GREAT REWARD PLUS A CHANCE TO CHANGE THE WORLD

How cheating men justify their behavior!

We find most of the reasons that cheating men use to justify their infidelity fascinating —
because almost all of these reasons imply that cheating was the only logical solution to
their relationship issues and other life problems. We often find ourselves thinking, “Sure,
cheating is an option, but only one among many.
How about taking up a hobby, or volunteering to make the world a better place,
or actually talking to your significant other about what you’re feeling and how the two of
you might be able to craft a more fulfilling relationship?
Wouldn’t any of those choices be better than lying, manipulating, and keeping important
secrets from a woman you truly care about?”
But most men don’t have that type of insight. So when confronted, they minimize,
rationalize, and justify their behavior with statements like:
1. Every guy wants to have s*x with other women. And when the opportunity arises,
he takes it.
2. It’s a man’s biological imperative to have s*x with as many women as he can. Why
should I be any different?
3. If I got enough (or better) s*x at home, I wouldn’t need to cheat.
4. I’m not doing anything that most of my buddies don’t do. If you don’t believe me,
ask them.
5. If my wife hadn’t gained so much weight — or if she was nicer to me, or more
attentive — I wouldn’t have even thought about going elsewhere.
6. If my job wasn’t so stressful, I wouldn’t need the release I get from online s*x.
7. Cheating? Really? I mean, who would rationally call getting a lap dance in a strip
club infidelity? It’s just what guys do for fun.
8. My dad looked at magazines and went to strip clubs, and that wasn’t a big deal.
Well, I have we**am chats and interactive s*x. What’s the difference?
9. If the police had been out chasing actual bad guys, I wouldn’t have gotten caught
in that prostitution sting. Why don’t they go after some real criminals?
10. I’m only s*xting and flirting. Where’s the harm in that? I don’t meet up with any of
these women in person. It’s just a game.

“Why Did I Ever Leave You?”
New love is entrancing and brings out the best in most people. Sadly, those initial feelings often wear off, leaving many needing to end a relationship. When partners are in agreement that they both want to move on, those endings are just part of life, and both people are willing to try again with someone else.
It's different when the decision is one-sided. If only one partner wants the relationship to continue, while the other is ready to end it, the person left behind is often saddened or heartbroken, while the other must bear the guilt of leaving a once-beloved partner.
Most people who leave a relationship are ready to move on. But some, after time passes, begin to regret their decision. Once they have put the negative aspects of that past relationship behind, they begin to miss the good times. Haunted by having left someone they perhaps truly loved, they wonder if they should have tried harder to make the relationship work, and begin to search for that lost love.
Let us take a look at the six common reasons why people leave relationships too soon.
1. Fear of Commitment
2. Lack of Readiness for a Long-Term Relationship
3. Going Back to an Unfinished Relationship
4. Lack of Faith in Successful Long-Term Relationships
5. Choosing Easy Over Challenge
6. Lacking the Skills to Transform Romantic Feelings to Deeper Love.

So today as we tend towards the international Women's day, Guidance and counselling consultants Ltd in conjunction with 102 Mega Fm, gave you some tips on how to raise your daughter into the kind of woman you desire.
Girls growing up today have got so many options. The doors to just about any career are open to them, and society tends to support both their equality and their autonomy. Educationally, girls have opportunities that no other generation has enjoyed and, according to all reports, they are achieving academic success above that of their male peers.
At the same time however, there are particular challenges that are unique to the technologically twisted age into which these girls have been launched.

Bearing in mind the most sensitive element of the girl's hormonal cycle, Dr.Hope Kusaasira of the Guidance and counselling consultants Ltd summaries the strategy as A...B...C.

Atmosphere should be enabling for the girl to feel welcome and loved by the parents especially the dad.

Boundaries should be set and made clear to the girl way before time, but in a friendly manner.

Communication and coaching by the parents is a must. Fathers too must ensure that they are able to conduct and sustain a healthy conversation with the daughter.

THE PURSUIT OF SUCCESS is like learning how to ride a bicycle. It requires a lot of FAITH
You must have FAITH the struggle will pass. You must have FAITH that your time will come. Because when you believe in yourself, you are UNSTOPPABLE! There is no greater asset than FAITH & BELIEF in yourself. When your faith is bigger than your fear, then success will be near.
Faith is believing IT WILL HAPPEN when there are no signs to show that it will happen. FAITH is believing in your dreams when no one else does, because sometimes you need to risk it all for a dream ONLY YOU can see. FAITH is sitting in the middle of the storm and still be able to close your eyes and “picture” the bright sunny blue skies.
Success my friends, and see you at the TOP!!!!!!!

PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING.
Mephibosheth thought of himself as a dead dog, so he lay on the floor like one. My friend, you have been on the floor long enough! It's time for a resurrection, and it is going to start in your mind. Just because you have been treated like a dog doesn't mean you're one! Get up off the floor and take a seat at the master's table- you're worth more than that. You have a right to be in the place and position you are in, not because of your goodness, but by virtue of His invitation. We at Guidance and counseling consultants ltd pray that God will heal your thoughts until you are able to enjoy and rest in what He is doing in your life today; in the now of your life........see you at the TOP.
