Sonrise Baby Home — Sonrise Ministries Uganda Director, Damali Wattier Manyindo.  The Babies Home was started in 2009 when Damali felt burdened to help some of Uganda's 2 million plus orphans. Sonrise Babies Home specializes in taking in babies that are severely malnourished and nurse them back to health.

Sonrise baby home has successfully reunited a number of children with their families after months and even years of separation due to child abuse and neglect factors. This is a milestone for the ministry in achieving its purpose to provide a safe environment for children’s growth and sharing the saving love of Jesus Christ.

Two-year-old Simon was reunited with his family this December in Iganga district. After identification by the family tracing team, Simon’s mother was put under counseling sessions to realign her interest in her son. After a number of weeks of the sessions and child-care training, Simon’s mother was ready to reunite with her very healthy and energetic son and is allowing God to use her as Simon’s earthly parent. It was an emotional moment for everyone involved. It was a time of ululation and singing songs of praise to God.

Family tracing is labor intensive due to limited access to roads and mobile connectivity especially in rural areas. It is heavily reliant on the family tracing team walking long distances and knocking on many doors to trace parents. Despite the difficulties, we are grateful for the reunifications we have had.

To reunify the rest of the children who have able parents and facilitating provision of counselling and child care training to parents, we need strong partnership and support to meet our USD 120,000 budget.

The family continues to receive support from the ministry during the transitional period including food, medication and counselling sessions.

Groundnuts are a delicacy in different parts of Uganda that can be served roasted, ground, sun dried, pounded or even eaten fresh.

Farming is one way of saving families from going hungry and stored-food can save families in times of weather shocks. A big thank you to the team that planted and now working hard to harvest the fresh groundnuts from the garden.

We thank God for the opportunity he has given us to transform our land into hope to every member of the Sonrise community.

This morning we woke up to the front security wall at our old baby home fallen. This happened overnight and is our main source of protection for our sick babies who must remain close to the hospital. When a wall is down, anything can happen and we must protect our babies within our home.

We need to purchase bricks, cement, and sand to fix the entire front wall. This will cost approximately $3,000 USD and we do not have anything extra in our budget to spend on this repair. We are asking for your help. If you can give to help us repair this wall, we greatly appreciate your support. ♥️

Thank you very much for the great opportunity that you gave the team to teach the students about kindness, love, and care for one another.
