RIP Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, the respected Member of Parliament representing the Dokolo District Women’s Constituency and former Miss Uganda, passed away at the age of 77. Succumbing to cancer at a hospital in India on Thursday morning, her death marks the end of a remarkable journey that began with winning the "Miss Uganda" contest in 1969. Ogwal, born on June 12, 1946, had been a consistent presence in Uganda’s legislature since 1996. Known for her impactful role in politics, she served on the parliamentary Committee of Physical Infrastructure, addressing policy matters related to Lands, Housing, Urban development, Works and Transport, and Physical Planning. Despite inquiries seeking official confirmation and comment from Parliament spokesperson Chris Obore, there has been no response at the time of this unfortunate development.
