Yesterday, The Butaleja honorable MPS (Hon.Nebanda Florence, Hon.Mutembuli Yusuf, and Hon.Mutiwa Geofrey) held a meeting with the UNRA Executive Director (Ms.Allen Kagina), the Director of Network Planning and Engineering (Eng. Isaac Wani) and the UNRA Eastern Region Manager (Ms.Bennice Kiganda) seeking for an update on the discussions between the Executive Director and Power China International group to prefinance the construction of the above-mentioned road.

In response, the executive director explained as follows;

-Out of the six(6)roads that were to be considered for this prefinancing, the Namutumba-Butaleja-Nabumali road discussions, plans, and financing have progressed the most compared to others

-The negotiations with Power China are in the final stages and procurement has been initiated

-The E.D asked the leaders if they could sensitize the residents and request them to offer their land for the road construction so that the construction can kick off as soon as possible

He every morning, afternoon and evening prays for her soul, cleans her grave on top of checking on the children in the middle of the night and early morning, he keeps taking them out and buying them expensive things daily and to me this is wasting money….
Actually the love he has for these people is too much that I feel cheated… I may not feel that bad for the children because they’re going to school but the kind of love he has for his late wife makes me feel I don’t please him enough and therefore I can never take her place…. Sometimes he sits down and cries like a baby saying he really misses her and everything they used to do together… am then forced to comfort him for things to get back to normal… guys I feel this is too much and it's getting on my nerves, instead of me enjoying my marriage, am busy comforting a man who has refused to stop mourning his wife who died years ago…. UPDATE: Lira City East Division Councilors today rejected shs 40,000 allowances for COVID 19 sensitization saying they were supposed to get shs 100,000.

The 52 councilors were called by the Division, Town Clerk Emmanuel Komakech to receive their Covid-19 sensitization allowance but they turned rowdy alleging that they were being under paid.

The speaker Lira City East Division Council, Alyela Omodi alleged that the Division received over shs 100 million for COVID 19 fight and seems they plan to swindle the money.

The deputy speaker Lira City East Division, Hassan Okeng said the guideline for the money stipulates that they were supposed to get shs 100,000 not 40,000.

So my colleague had to go to our neighbor to change the money into smaller changed amount so that we could give the customer balance. We finally gave the customer Ugx 8,000 balance and he went away.

Unfortunately the neighbor whom we had collected the change from came back to our shop and told us that the Ugx 10k note we had given was a fake note!

So after everything, we accepted that fault, collected the fake note and gave our neighbor another UGX 10,000 note. So, our argument is that how much did we loose in total?

It's funny but both of us are getting a different figure as our loss so we decided to ask and see whose figure is collect. We got 4 different answers; Ugx18000, Ugx20000, Ugx10000 and Ugx12000"

Residents ask govt to gazette new Umukukha.
A section of residents and elders in Bugisu Sub-region have asked the government to gazette the new cultural leader of Bamasaba Cultural Institution to end the long-standing impasse between parallel leaders.

Residents say the failure by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Ms Betty Amongi, to gazette one of the leaders is fuelling infighting and has undermined economic development.
