This program is part of a larger project that is on track to benefit 10,000 people by 2023. It's expected that around 500 of them will build their own successful businesses in the process. Considering the unemployment rate in Uganda is over 60%, initiatives like Lwaki Ye are essential to lifting communities out of poverty. ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Collaboration and partnership are critical for the race toward a poverty free society. Help us get there!
Since its a request to everyone - Dear fellow humans, Its been over a year and a half since our fight with the lethal virus began and we aren’t sure how long is this battle gonna last. Several medical martyrs and other subjects of the world have lost their precious lives during the course. Some of us are privileged enough to have ...
Women play significant and varied roles in agriculture, yet they are obliged by two significant types of gender gaps: women have inconsistent access, comparative with men, to productive resources, and there is deficient in data about the roles and resources of women and men. Shutting these gender gaps would be helpful both for women and for agribusiness. Since agricultural gender disparities remain solid, women farmers are especially in danger of hunger, particularly when emergency strikes. On average, rural women represent almost a half of the agricultural labor force developing nations. Despite their significant role in family food security, they face segregation and restricted bargaining power. Male centric standards create burdens for women farmers, explicitly in land rights (little plots, challenges achieving possession, unfair legacy rights), useful resources (no admittance to credit, expansion services or inputs), unpaid work, unreliable employment and exclusion from decision making and political representation. Within the household, as a result of more vulnerable bartering position they as often eat less and least well.
Women are defenseless on all components of food security: availability, access, use and stability. At Lwaki Ye we believe in empowering women to achieve their potential through our Agriculture initiative where women engaged in maize growing!
Success story:
Kyumuhangi Flovia is a beneficiary of the Lwaki Ye Women Empowering programs. Flovia like many women staying in the Kampala suburbs of Namuwongo, another Slum at the outskirts of Kampala city, was finding difficulty in taking care for her four children, who where left with her when her late husband passed.
Thereafter, she started doing all odd jobs that put her life and that of her children in danger. As a result she had to move for very long distances in the wee hours of the night to the city abattoir where she worked, this took away from her parenting time thus exposing her children to all sorts of mischiefs.
Flavia heard about Lwaki Ye from a friend and enrolled for training, in hand-made crafts particularly in hand craft bags and open shoes made out of leather and old car tires, and later established her own business together with other women at the center. This has enabled Flavia not only improve her earnings but has also given her ample time to take care of children and focusing on their education to secure for them a better future!
Last week Lwaki Ye did a Digital Empowerment Training for women.

Quest For an Ideal Society - Long ago when humans were unaware of the sheer brilliance they possessed, the order of society would have been questionable to a modern human eye. Things were different back then as the human race was at the inception of evolution. The raw apes hunt animals to quench their hunger, there was no discr...
