Engine 1212, operating out of the Edgewood Station, handling 2nd Due Engine responsibilities on the 2nd Alarm 409 Box.

Engine 1213 responded on this 2nd Alarm Dwelling Fire yesterday afternoon. This is the 4th Working Fire Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services have responded on in the last week.

*Building Fire in the 808-1 Box*
Around 12:30 pm the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services were alerted for an Engine to respond for the reported Building Fire on Hardwick Place. Engine 811 (Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company) arrived to find a 1-Story Maintenance Garage with smoke showing.
Engine 1214 arrived and assumed “2nd Due Engine” responsibilities, completing the split-lay from Engine 811 and securing the water source. Engine 1214’s crew reported to the Interior Supervisor (Captain 8-3) and were assigned to assist Engine 811 and Truck 8 with opening up on the Interior and conducting overhaul. Units operated on scene for just over an hour before returning to service. Captain 12 held the Hardwick Place Command

On April 6th, Aberdeen Proving Ground's Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate held a Run/Walk to Honor the Surviving Family Members of our Fallen Service Members. Engine 1215, Quint 12, and Paramedic 1294 from both Aberdeen Stations provided standby coverage for the event. Members from both Aberdeen and Edgewood Stations participated in the event to pay respect and honor APG Gold Star Families.

*Trailer Fire in the 401-1 Box*
Last Thursday the 4th, Station 12 (Edgewood) was alerted for an Engine to respond for a Trailer Fire in Abingdon Fire Company - MD’s first due. Chief 8 (Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company) arrived on scene to find a Trailer with Smoke Showing and requested the Working Fire. Engine 1214 arrived and assumed 2nd Due Engine responsibilities, laying a supply line from Bush Rd to the 1st arriving units supply line. Engine 214 (Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc.) then completed the split lay for Engine 1214. The crew from Engine 1214 assisted with Fire Attack and Overhaul while operating on scene. The crew remained on scene for just over an hour before clearing and returning to service.

*Dwelling Fire in the 504-1 Box*
Station 12 (Aberdeen) was alerted for an Engine to respond for the reported Dwelling Fire as part of the initial assignment. Engine 1215 arrived and assisted crews with Interior Operations. The Engine operated on scene for approximately 90 minutes before clearing and returning to service.
& surrounding mutual aid companies are on scene of a house fire in the 100 block of Deaver Street. Please avoid area while crews work to extinguish the blaze.

Engine 1214 currently operating on scene as the 2nd Due Engine in the 836-1 Box.

Engine 1213 and Tanker 12 operating on a well involved Single Family Dwelling last night. (821-1 Box)

*Townhome Fire in the 808-1 Box*
Around 14:20hrs today, Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services was alerted for an Engine to respond to the 600 blk of Shore Drive. An Assistant Chief from Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company arrived on scene to find a 2-Story Townhome with “Smoke Showing” from the front and “Fire Showing” from the rear of the structure.
Engine 1213 arrived to assume “3rd Due Responsibilities” and secured a 2nd water source at Shore Dr and Anchor Dr. The crew forced entry and advanced a 300’ pre-connect to the Delta Exposure to check for extension and conduct a primary search. Engine 1213’s crew then redeployed to the main fire structure to advance a 2nd attack line to assist with extinguishment and opening up for overhaul. Engine 1213 operated on scene for just over 2 hours.

*Dwelling Fire in the 405-1 Box*
Around 14:45hrs this afternoon, Harford County Department of Emergency Services alerted Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services and other Mutual Aide Departments for a Dwelling Fire in the 3100blk of Sounding Drive.
Personnel from Abingdon Fire Company - MD were first on scene to find a 2-story Single Family Dwelling with smoke showing and requested the Working Fire Assignment. Engine 1213 arrived and assumed “1st Due Engine” responsibilities and placed (2) pre connected attack lines in service for fire attack. Crews found a chicken coop on fire with minor extension to the 1st floor of the dwelling and worked for approximately 1.5hrs. No injuries were reported.

Thursday (1/18) brought 2 Working Fires for Station 12 Units.
Around 15:09hrs, Truck 12 was alerted for a Commercial Building Fire at the Home Depot in the 216-1 Box. Chief 1-2 arrived first on scene to find a 1-story Commercial Building with smoke showing, upon conducting a 360 discovered a “Working Fire” involving the Compactor attached to the Charlie side of the building. Truck 12 arrived as 1st Due Truck and assumed the Charlie Side per Command. The crew from Truck 12 found a working fire involving a Compactor and assisted Engine 214 from Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc. with opening up, ventilation and overhaul. The Truck operated for approximately 1-1/2 hours on scene.
Around 19:50hrs, Engine 1213 was alerted for a Dwelling Fire on Michael Dr in the 826-3 Box. Truck 8 and Chief 8-1 from Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company arrived to find a Mobile Home with smoke showing from all sides. Engine 1213 arrived as 1st Due Engine and placed (1) 1-3/4” hand-line in service for fire attack, Interior Crews found and extinguished a working bedroom fire with minor extension. Engine 1213 operated on scene for approximately 2 hours.

E-1213 is currently operating as the 1st Due Engine on this Dwelling Fire in the 300blk of Springdale Ct in Joppatowne.

Last week, members of APGFD were able to attend a 3 day “Active Threat Integrated Response Course” that is offered through Louisiana State University. The class was an excellent opportunity to form working relationships with Federal, State, and Local partners. Thanks to Harford County Department of Emergency Services for hosting this training opportunity.


Engine 1215 is currently operating at a 2 alarm fire in Cecil County at Jumbo Jimmys this is the 2nd fire of the day for 1215.

Today we remember the LODD of Fire Inspector Doug Farrington. Doug passed on August 23, 2010 and is greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Yesterday evening Harford County Box 140-1 Level Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for the house fire Chief 2-1 Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc.arrived with fire showing requesting the Working fire dispatch. Tanker 12 made the response and operated for the duration of the incident.
