It is very rare that something you tell me is actually TMI!
š One of those things no one tells you about š
Serving Abilene, San Angelo, and areas between. š
We get it. Sometimes you realize itās just not a good fit and you need a new provider. Do not hesitate to reach out if you are curious about home birth.

Itās National Relaxation Day so letās put a birthy spin on it!
Mamas who have given birth before, what tricks can you share on how to get and stay relaxed in labor?
A picture is worth a thousand words, they say, and this one is worth at least that. Here are a few words I think of when I see this picture: support, strength, partnership, encouragement, joy, powerā¦doula, affirmations, smiles, hard work, water, home.
What words come to mind for you?
Thank you so much to the families who have allowed me to share a glimpse of their time with me on social media. Together, we can help normalize homebirth and midwifery care. If you havenāt shared pictures with me for social media and would like to, please text them my way. Thank you!
Dads will always, always be included as part of the team when present in my clientsā lives. We respect their comfort level and encourage them to be as involved as they want in the birth process, including catching the baby if thatās the coupleās desire.
Pregnant moms, this is for you. š
Have you been considering switching to a homebirth? Are you due in September, October, or November? Would you like $500 off the midwifery fees? Yes?! Then reach out!
Current clients who refer a mama who becomes new client to my practice for this offer also receive $500 off their fees!
Find out as early as six weeks of pregnancy! Message through my website to get pricing and book your appointment. šš
During one of the most vulnerable and sacred times of your life, itās okay to be picky about who your care provider is. Find one that matches your values, is respectful, and listens to you.
This is your call to get your vitamin D in before summer is gone! Once fall and winter are here, the Texas sun is not at the best angle to make vitamin D in your skin. To stock up the vitamin stored in fat for the winter, get outside a few minutes each day without sunscreen and with as much skin exposed as possible.
Why is this important? Vitamin D is a key player in a healthy pregnancy.
Itās back to school time but itās also 100 degrees outside! So where do you stand? Are you soaking it in or are you ready for fall?
Did you take a childbirth class? Tell us about it! Was it online or in person? Did it help?
Checking fetal heart tones is just one thing we do at every prenatal visit and throughout labor. This is how babies tell us theyāre doing okay. š
We often get asked about which position is the "best" position for delivery. The answer is, there isn't a right or wrong position when you're delivering your baby! The best position is the one that feels intuitive for you.
There are many upright birthing positions to labor and deliver in, which can help labor progress and encourage a smoother delivery, even if you are birthing with an epidural.
You have many options when it comes to positions, and here are some of the best ones for delivery:
āØStanding up
āØKneeling
āØSquatting
āØHands and Knees
āØOn a birthing stool
If you listen to your body, it will tell you exactly which position will be best for delivery. You can try lots of different positions to see which one "feels right" to you, and your body will tell you if it feels right or not. Trust your birthing instincts, you are a woman of strength!

What are you doing this weekend?
One of the best kept secrets in pregnancy is NORA tea (nettle, oat straw, red raspberry leaf, and alfalfa). Itās so very nutritious! A quart jar is $15 and a refill is $10. DM me if youād like to come get some-even if you arenāt a current client!
Thereās always something that catches us by surprise, what was it for you?
Caya-not your motherās diaphragm! A great, hormone free option for family planning. DM to book an appointment to chat about it!

Dad, when you protect space, plans, and your little family, youāre the hero! Here are some ways to do it in these newborn days!
You may just see couches here but imagineā¦
Kicking your shoes off and tucking your feet under you to get comfortable as you share whatās on your heart.
Explaining your previous birth highs and lows and dreaming with your midwife what your next birth could be like.
Sitting next to your own mama while she asks your midwife how she handles emergencies and witnessing her support of your ācrazyā birth plans grow.
Debriefing the hard, the beautiful, the āIām so glad I was able to lead my careā discussion with a newborn baby in your arms.
This-and of course so much more (like checking on baby and having blood pressure taken and all the āmedicalā things) happen right here on these couches.
Midwifery care is different š
I love carrying some of my favorite pregnancy related herbal products so my clients donāt have to go chase them down or wait for online orders to come in.
Psst: check out the Kick-It-Allergy, even if youāre not pregnant! Such a huge help!
These feet yāall.
They represent the joy, the tears, the hard and primitive work of moms, the love and pouring out of the support teamā¦oh so many hours of work and love behind each set.
But also, looking forwardā¦these little humans born into so much love and gentleness will go out into the world and make it a better place. š
Hereās what you need to know about homebirth: itās on the rise (especially since Covid), itās a great option to consider if your pregnancy is low risk, once you try it, you may never go back!
Want to chat-with no obligation-to see if itās right for you? Reach out and Iāll be more than happy to answer all of your questions.

Did you catch my video on hydration in my series of home birth tips? It seems so simple but can be challenging when youāre focused on the work of labor. Give it a listen to hear what happens if you get dehydrated.
Newborn exams are always done with mom and dad nearby, with respect and care when handling your baby, and with attention to detail as we check out your baby from head to toe. š
