Timing is everything.
Last Tuesday, Landon and I were shopping for a car (a last minute, impulse buy before my trip) and knew we wanted another Mazda. I don't take my purchasing power lightly...I knew for 100% certainty that I wanted to support Blair and Taylor if it was a possibility, and luckily it was (huge plus, he made the process too easy 🤪).
I have known Blair and Taylor since we were at McMurry University together, and since have had the privilege of photographing both newborn and maternity sessions for their growing family. This January they were told that their baby girl is battling a tumor growth in the center of her brain...absolutely unfathomable. So, supporting their family with my purchase wasn't even a question.
As we were waiting for my car purchase to be finalized, Taylor, Landon, and I were chatting about life and of course the conversation shifted to Brynn. Taylor was telling us how strong she has been through each and every procedure and treatment thus far, and that another planned surgical procedure was coming. Of course I was heading out of state the next day and getting back the very day they were leaving to DFW, but you know what...the timing was perfect. They were able to come by the studio right before they hit the road to DFW, and in just a few minutes we were able to capture Brynn's last moments with her "Tubie"...man, it was sweet.
I fight back so many tears typing this -
Childhood Cancer...words I could never imagine uttering for my child, or anyone's child for that matter. I am beyond blessed to be able to capture milestones for families, and I am forever thankful for my background as a critical care nurse making these encounters more feasible for me to get through.
BIG prayers for Brynn through tomorrow, as she heads back for a procedure that will hopefully give her more comfort and freedom.

Valerie was the headshot refresh winning bid to support our girl Koti Goolsby in her fight against Ewing's Sarcoma.
Let me tell you a little bit about Koti - she is 100% the strongest young woman I have ever met. She glows, and commands whatever space she is in...her smile is infectious. I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to really know her since November, and I honestly love her like she is my own sister, or shoot even daughter. I am so glad (grateful 🥹) that our life paths crossed. Praying for you every single day sweet girl!

Although baby Miles came to eat, snuggle, and party, he still let me get all the poses I had planned and was super sweet just staring into my soul in some of them.

Maisie was quiet and content their entire session…even after their 100+ mile trip to come see me.
