Thank you to all Veterans on this Veteran's Day and every day.
We are proud of all Veterans who have served our great country. We are honored to work with Veterans each and every day at Air Evac 63. All of our pilots are Army Veterans, our Aviation Maintenance Tech is a Marine Corp Veteran (not pictured), and we have a Flight Nurse who is currently deployed with the Air Force Reserve.
On this Veteran's Day we recognize, thank, and show our appreciation for one of our pilots at Air Evac 63, who is also military Veteran.
We have been very fortunate this week, recognizing the hard work and milestones of some of our team members.
In July 2023 he completed his 1500th patient flight. Today we are both humbled and honored to present, Tom Bushek, with his 1500th Patient Flight Wings.
He served in the Army for 21 years, starting his career in the enlisted ranks as an Aircraft Armament and Missle Systems repairer on the AH-1 Cobra Helicopter, before going to Warrant Officer Candidate (WOC) School. Following WOC school and Flight school, he flew Scout Helicopters where he eventually retired as a Scout Helicopter Instructor Pilot. Nine months after hanging up his Army uniform, he took to the air again, this time as a Helicopter EMS Pilot.
He started his career in Helicopter EMS at Lincoln Nebraska and blessed a few more bases, prior to landing at Air Evac Lifeteam 63 in Abilene, Tx. We welcomed him to Air Evac 63 in September, 2015. He has been a wealth of knowledge, sharing his Aviation knowledge and experience with all team members.
Over the last 2 years, when he wasn't flying, he planned, prepared, and executed his cross country motorcycle excursion. He made it to all the state capitols from September 7, 2023 to October 10, 2023.
Keep doing what you do, Mr. Tom, you are an inspiration to all who know you. We are proud to work with you at AE63 and look forward to the many more families you will help in the future.
His wings were presented to him by his Daughter and Son-in-Law, Meghan and James.
Veterans Day
Today and every day, we honor our Veterans and are proud to employ Veterans at GMR. Thank you to all our country’s Veterans for your service and sacrifice. Hear from some of our Veteran heroes about their professional journey in EMS. GMR - Military (globalmedicalresponse.com)
Marine Corps Birthday
Today marks the United States Marine Corps 248th birthday! Thank you to all the brave and courageous women and men who have served our country.
Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month. We celebrate the rich cultures, traditions and histories of Indigenous people. We especially acknowledge the past and present contributions of Native People to our industry.
National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month
November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. We stand together to support those affected, honor caregivers and advocate for crucial research. Together, we can make a difference! We invite you to learn more about local resources and how to get involved at https://www.alz.org/.
It's time again to recognize, thank, and show our appreciation for one of our team members at Air Evac 63.
Today, we are honored to recognize one of our Flight Medic's, Marc Flores, on earning his 250th Patient Flight Wings.
We welcomed him to Air Evac 63 in October 2021. In September 2023, he completed his 250th patient flight. He hasn't slowed down. As of his 2 year anniversary with Air Evac in October, he has helped 270 families, being the best thing to happen on their worst day.
He credits his band director from Anson High School, Mr Rob Hartman, as the one who inspired him to consider the Fire Dept and EMS career field. A decision he says he has never regretted.
He came to Air Evac with experience gained through working in hospitals as an EMT and with rural EMS as a Paramedic. He is filled with a passion and desire to help others.
Over the last 2 years, when he wasn't flying, he continued to sharpen his medical skills by studying for and completing the Certified Flight Paramedic Certification (FPC).
Keep doing what you do, Marc. You are a role model for so many. We are proud to work with you at AE63 and look forward to the many more families you will help in the future.
His wings were presented to him by his Flight partner, dual certified Flight Nurse / Flight Paramedic, Missy Satterfield.
We're excited to see the Coleman County Medical Center helipad project completed and back in service.
Starting the week with an early morning flight over to Nolan County.
It's always great seeing how multiple agencies come together and work seamlessly beside each other in times of need.
We appreciate every agency represented this morning; Roscoe Fire, Sweetwater Fire & EMS, Roscoe Pd, NCSO, TXDPS, TxDot, and multiple wrecker services.
Answering the call to help our neighbors in Throckmorton County this morning.
It's always a blessing working with Throckmorton EMS and Throckmorton Volunteer Fire Department.

We pride ourself in maintaining our equipment in a high state of readiness. We have to be ready at a Moments notice to help the next family.
Washing the aircraft and keeping it clean is more than just how it looks. When you wash and dry the aircraft, your hand goes over every inch of the helicopter.
Yesterday we were about to lift for our third flight of the day. As the patient was being rolled out to the helipad to be loaded, he made a statement to the Flight Nurse and Flight Medic. The Flight Nurse ask if he would repeat it louder, so the pilot could hear.
I walked closer to the patient and he said he builds racecar engines and was a stickler for attention to detail. He said this aircraft is probably the cleanest one he has ever seen. He said the sun shines on and reflects off of it showing how well it is taken care of.
I told him that we take pride in our aircraft and the people we provide care too.
A clean aircraft takes time, but it is a direct reflection of the folks who operate it. People may not always tell you, but everyone takes notice in how you take care of your equipment.

On Friday, a helicopter delivering water to the 150-acre Barth Fire in Caldwell County almost collided with a drone that came within feet of the aircraft.
Drones are a serious safety hazard for both the aviation resources as well as the firefighters on the ground and can cause a serious or fatal accident if they collide with firefighting aircraft.
At the request of Texas A&M Forest Service, the Federal Aviation Administration implements Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) around wildfire areas. All aircraft, including drones, are prohibited from flying in these restricted areas. Further, it is a federal crime to interfere with firefighting aircraft regardless of whether restrictions are established.
Please avoid wildfire areas to provide a safe environment for firefighting aircraft and ground crews. Read more at: https://bit.ly/3qA7Mam

It was an honor working with all the folks in Clyde this morning, Citizens EMS, Clyde VFD, and the Clyde Police Department . Today we had a scheduled Helicopter Landing Zone and was on course until we grabbed our laptop. Once we were about to set up, Cencom called and had us going to help one more family.
Luckily one of our flight paramedics, Marc Flores, who had just come off his 24 hour shift, stepped up and taught the class.

Happy Birthday Air Evac Lifeteam!!!
We are happy to be part of such a great organization.
Air Evac Lifeteam was established in 1985 by a group of citizens in West Plains, Missouri. The goal was to provide air medical transportation and ensure access to emergency health care for their remote community in the Missouri Ozark region. Although air ambulances were primarily based in metropolitan areas at the time, the company founders believed that the people who needed air medical transport the most were those living in rural areas, often far away from a hospital.
Today, Air Evac is part of Global Medical Response (GMR), an industry-leading medical transportation company with both air and ground resources. Air Evac operates more than 150 helicopter aim ambulance bases across 18 states. Flight crews, consisting of a pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic, are on duty seven days a week to respond to the scene of an emergency, or provide transportation between medical facilities.
Getting the shift started early. Helping out neighbors in Seymour.

This evening we continued the honored tradition of presenting Flight Wings to our Flight Nurse/Flight Paramedic, Felix Ayala.
Felix joined Air Evac in August of last year and earned his Flight Wings for 100 patients flown back in June.
As First Responders know all too well, we miss important events with our families at times, due to the nature of our job. We wouldn't be able to do what we do without the love and support from our families.
Tonight Felix had his wings presented to him by his Daughter and Son. The photo was taken by his wife, who is also a Nurse/Paramedic.
Felix, we appreciate all you have done and enjoy seeing your family around the base. Including family, in the wings presentation, shows how much they are a part of the team.
Serving in the Big Country means we work with first responders across Texas. It hits us hard when we hear that there has been a life given in the Line of Duty. The news this morning of Deputy David Bosecker giving his life in the line of duty was hard to swallow. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, coworkers and friends of Deputy Bosecker.
Eastland County Deputy Killed in the Line of Duty....
At approximately 9:00 PM on Friday, July 21, 2023, Deputies with the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic fight in progress at a residence on Hwy 183 between Cisco and Rising Star. Deputy David Bosecker arrived on scene first and immediately began receiving gunfire from the suspect. Deputy Bosecker was struck and fatally wounded. Other units arriving were able to apprehend the suspect and no one else was injured. The suspect was taken to Stephens County Jail where he was charged with Capitol Murder. This is an active investigation being led by the Texas Rangers.
Deputy Bosecker had been in law enforcement for over 21 years and was a master peace officer. He began his law enforcement career in Wise County as a deputy then transitioning to Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. He would later become a Game Warden for Texas Parks and Wildlife. And Police Officer for Comanche PD. He finally ended up at Eastland County as a deputy in 2021 and he also worked part time for Cisco PD as a marine enforcement officer.
This week Air Evac Lifeteam 63 had the opportunity to participate in the festivities planned by Taylor County EMS and MetroCare/AMR Abilene, for EMS Week. Far too often the only time we get together is on scene flights and transferring care for patients. This week we were able to take a pause, if you will, for just a few moments to share some laughs and stories with our colleagues as well as some of their families. We are surrounded by professionals who make a difference in the community, on a patients worst day.
This week we recognize and thank all EMS personnel for everything you do. Your dedication and service to our communities does not go unnoticed. We appreciate the leadership from Taylor County EMS and MetroCare/AMR Abilene for the invite and true hospitality.
To the families of all EMS and First Responders, thank you for allowing your loved ones to do what they do for people they don't know on a daily basis. Without the love and support of our families, we would not be able to provide the level of care needed, at a moments notice.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there today. To all who work hard raising their kids while balancing a career, our hats are off to you. You are appreciated for all you do.
Flying like the wind tonight.
The best thing to happen on the worst day of your life. Lord, thank you and let us help at least one more family this shift.

The wings presentation is a tradition for an Air Evac flight crew member. Flight Wings are presented to the individual when pre-established, company milestones, have been achieved.
Missy Satterfield, one of our Flight Nurses, is being recognized for meeting the milestone of having flown 250 patient flights.
She came to Air Evac 63 with 10 years of nursing experience with the following credentials RN/BSN/CEN.
In her 3 years with Air Evac she has increased her medical credentials by adding nationally accredited Licensed Paramedic (LP).
She is also the Base Clinical Lead (BCL) for Air Evac 63 responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by facilitating communication between field staff and leadership, monitoring system status and making time-critical decisions, reporting daily issues and achievements to leadership, acting as a role model to field employees, and providing coaching opportunities when standards are not upheld.
In addition to her daily Nursing and BCL duties, her near term goals include completing the Flight Paramedic Course (FP-C) as well as the Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) certification.
Missy, we thank you and appreciate all you have done for both our patients and the medical profession. We are proud to have you on our team at Air Evac 63.
Her wings were presented to her, by her Flight Paramedic, Marc Flores.
The day crew departed base at 11:15am yesterday. This was their last stop for fuel and to stretch their legs before getting back to base at 10:06pm.
