Good Morning 7th Plymouth District, today is a beautiful day to recycle!
This morning, July 8th, we are hosting a recycling event from 10am to 2 pm at Beaver Brook Elementary School in Abington. I will be joined by Green Team Junk Removal, National Grid US and Abington Police Dept
Below you can find a list of items that can be recycled.
We will also be filling a cruiser with donations to benefit the Abington Food Pantry. Some items that are needed at the food pantry include; food, laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes and paper goods.
We hope to see you there!

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE ABINGTON BOY SCOUTS on the success of the first phase of Annual Boy Scout Food Drive held this past weekend.

“Helping local families in need”
The Abington Food Pantry was established in 1985 by Bob and Mary Johnson, members of St. Vincent de Paul Society. They had seen some families in the community having a hard time feeding their families and decided to help.
Initially it consisted of a single wooden cabinet containing a few cans of food.
With the help of other members of St. Vincent de Paul the operation continued to grow and after about 10 years, they were able of find space in the lower level of St. Bridget’s Church Friary, where they are still thriving today. Thousands of food items and household goods are now stored on the shelves of the shopping room and perishables are stored in 15 freezers and 6 refrigerators. They now own a box truck and utilize a conveyor belt for inventory. Currently, they are servicing over 150 families each month, with about 40 families visiting weekly.
With the help of approximately 30 current members and many local volunteers, the pantry is helping families that are struggling in Abington. The pantry is supported by many businesses and local organizations such as churches, banks, schools, retail stores, Boy’s Scouts, Girl Scouts, postal workers, sports associations, the senior citizens and individuals. As much as 3,000 pounds of products are purchased each week through the Greater Boston Food Bank, Stop & Shop, Trucchis, Costco and BJ Wholesale.
