This project was incredibly fun and challenging. I had an idea of what I wanted the space to look like, yet the need to start my over happened regularly. The most precious part of the journey was the time required of me to simply sit in the space and allow it to tell me what it needed to maintain historic integrity, yet draw out its natural strength & beauty in a more that could also be a bit .
I can’t take all the credit b/c Zoë, our , was the real - she always made the space look good when she gracefully walked through with her thick, . Zoë says “You’re Welcome”

There’s literally not one minute that goes by where we’re not consumed by crafting an even more dry rosé than the previous year by using the same protocol across the board in order to highlight varietal & terroir characteristics.

: lifted the entire bar and moved it a full foot back toward the wall and removed the enormous marble corner blocking the entryway.
Next, we replaced the former wood bar top & drawbridge with a sleek countertop, removed the old sticky cabinet doors, resized some of the cabinets, sanded the surfaces to a smooth finish & painted the cabinet faces. We also removed the Moroccan tiles on the front of the bar.
What was important to us was preserving the gorgeous vaulted ceiling & brick walls while updating the space yet honoring its 172-year history as the Estate’s Carriage House. **Notice the dirty, dingy floors in the space**

A close-up of the wood countertop drawbridge, cubby-holes behind-the-bar, & floor mats. Quite a bit going on in the space with SO MUCH room behind the bar top. We had a couple friends who either work in or design bars suggest we move the bar back towards the wall since you should only need space for two people to get around one another (and not 4). This would then allow a larger area to be carved out on the main floor for visitors to enjoy.
The large marble block located in the corner of the bar seemed more like a barrier to the space as it stood within the door entrance giving an unwelcoming tone.
Last May, we moved onto the estate and began the process of renovating the tasting lounge. These are 4 pictures of the “Before” phase. I’ll continue posting pics later this week of the renovation phases. We’re absolutely thrilled with how the space has evolved today to take on an aesthetic of industrial glam.
