Grenache shoots are 5 to 7 inches long now, and have six to eight small leaves. The first set of tendrils are clearly visible. Tendrils are rapidly growing appendages that search outwardly and ahead of the shoot for anything that will support it, and there is usually a tendril for each leaf after the fruit has emerged. As soon as it touches something suitable, it immediately begins to wrap around the object, attaching itself securely. This gives the shoot support and keeps it in a vertical position.

Our Grenache vines are now showing small fruit clusters. Fruit on each cane appears after the cane has developed its third leaf. It is hard at this point to say what the crop will be like, but I can see two clusters on each of the canes. That typically means it will be a normal size crop.
