The Super Bowl 57 flyover will make history with all-female air crews to celebrate 50 years of women in naval aviation. Today, female aviators serve and operate in every level of naval aviation.
The planes will take off from Luke Air Force Base before game time and wait to get called in. Another pilot will be down on the field, coordinating with the producers of the on-field activity. They'll speed up or slow down as needed to pass over the stadium's rim as the National Anthem is ending.
All-female Super Bowl flyover team to make history For the first time in Super Bowl history, an all-female squad will do the Navy flyover to help kick off the big game on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Addison Airport is proud to welcome the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour Airbus A320!
Our lead photo here is one of our favorites from this past week; it captures four very different aircraft (Cirrus, SR20, Cessna C680A Latitude, Beech Starship, and Swearingen SA226T Merlin III) in one frame. Good timing and a fair amount of luck is required to capture a photo like this. Included among the additional photos are some of the larger aircraft that operate in and out of Addison (two BBJs and a B737-200).
Galaxy FBO - Addison's third full-service Fixed Base Operator, joining Million Air and Atlantic Aviation - has formally and officially announced that they are open for business! Congratulations, welcome, and best wishes to the Galaxy FBO team!

Our featured photo today shows a Canadian-registered Pilatus PC-12 that just cleared Customs holding for a Beech Starship clearing the runway. The Starship in this photo is NOT one of the two resident here in Addison; it has been here for maintenance recently. Our other photos feature great paint jobs on a Cirrus SF50 and a Bombardier Challenger 350. As a bonus, there is a Vashon Ranger visible taxiing past the Challenger 350.
This Bombardier Global was photographed at Addison this summer, with U.S. registration numbers, and three months later with a Cayman Islands registration. In spite of the different registrations, we conclude it is the same aircraft based on the unique dark-gray-on-black camouflage paint scheme. Even more unusual, the flap track fairings and the outboard surfaces of the winglets are painted a shade of purple. That's distinctive, to put it mildly.

A couple photos of the eternally cool Beech Starship plus the Addison Tower at sunset to kick off your weekend.
OK, so the staff has been busy and we haven't posted anything in a few days, so here is a collection of various aircraft we're throwing up until someone has the time to find something more interesting to post. Sorry, but it's the best we can do right now!
Any NASCAR fans out there?
This Canadian-registered Citation C680 Sovereign appears to be sporting the Winglet Technology transitional winglets (PDF at link: https://winglet-technology.com/brochure/Winglet_Sovereign_Brochure.pdf). Not only do they look nice, it seems they do quite a lot to improve performance.
Gulfstreams. All kinds. Lots of them. Enjoy!
We went digging through our photo archives for this collection of mostly old and uncommon Cessna products. Can you identify them all? Do you have any interesting photos to add to this bunch?
Interesting paint job on this Diamond DA-42 NG. We half expected to see Anthony Daniels get out of it.
We really like seeing Boeing's BBJs on the infrequent occasions when they come into Addison. Boeing also operates some Challenger 605s, which we see much more often than the BBJs. Whatever they bring, we're always happy to see them!
IAI Westwind I (model 1124; this one built in 1980) and IAI Westwind II (model 1124A; this one built in 1981). The Westwinds (models 1123, 1124, and 1124A) were developed from the Jet Commander (model 1121) which in turn was developed from the Aero Commander piston twin series. IAI developed the follow-on model 1125 Astra. When that design was acquired by Gulfstream, it was re-designated as the G100, with a subsequent improved version designated the Gulfstream G150.
According to the FAA Aircraft Registry, this interesting aircraft is a Morrisey 2150A. However, that same Registry entry lists a manufacture date of 1961, which suggests this particular aircraft was built by Shinn Engineering, Inc., which acquired the design circa 1960 and built 35 aircraft, with production ending in 1962. The design was subsequently acquired by the Varga Aircraft Corporation in 1967, which built 121 aircraft (in Chandler, AZ) from 1975 to1982 as the Varga 2150A Kachina.
Over the past 10 or so years, we have seen maybe 3-4 examples of the Morrisey/Shinn/Varga 2150 and its variants; it is an uncommon aircraft.
Nakajima B5N "Kate" torpedo bomber spotted departing Addison. We believe this is a replica but would be happy to be corrected if anyone knows for certain.
Today's forecast: predominantly Cirrus, with a chance of occasional Skyhawk ...
A couple of weeks ago we were intrigues to see not one but two Swearingen Metroliners come in. They loaded up some cargo - which we believe was chicks, as in newly-hatched chickens - and were on their way again. Definitely not something we see every day here.
Here's one we don't see very often anymore: a Sabreliner. Those rounded triangular windows are distinctive.
We are starting to see a few Global 7500s here at Addison and truthfully we wouldn't mind seeing a few more ...
Enjoy the weekend!
Piaggio P.180 Avanti. This aircraft produces a distinctive sound because of the propellers mounted behind the wing. A while back we heard a line service tech refer to one of these airplanes as a "catfish" ... which was confusing only until we looked at the airplane head on or nearly so.
