I want to publicly address the negative review on Nosey Asses. We are happy to update that the dog is receiving the proper care from medical professionals with a diagnosis of ITP. (Which is a blood clotting/platelet disorder) Unfortunately, that causes bruising and blood issues that we did not cause but, were ultimately blamed for. Our number one concern is always and will remain, the safety of the pets in our care. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact my office and ask to speak to Kyla.

Please, if you are in the market for a dog, please contact this rescue! I cannot say enough good things about the lady who runs this place plus they all come altered, heartworm tested and rabies vaccinated!

She is so busy rescuing she doesn’t update the Facebook like she wants but contact her if you are breed specific and she comes across the famous doodles everyday…

Good Morning grooming family! It’s been awhile so I thought I’d get on here and say how much I appreciate everyone of you! It’s been 10 years! 10 years of learning, growing, succeeding and learning some more! Some days I get to the office extremely early. I use this time to hang out with these fools, clean, catch up on paperwork, enjoy the quiet and just simply reflect. (Looks like I need to add washing windows, geez!) Today I’m choosing to reflect with a grateful heart! I have had a few groomers throughout the years, some really good and some that I truthfully was more excited when they left then when they were here. They have all taught me something. I’ve had clients since puppies, establish relationships with not only them but their parents and they have also, all taught me something. The fact that I can continue to grow through adversity that some have casted upon me by others mistakes, forever grateful. The ups and downs of business ownership are not for the weak. I never clock out. I try to raise a family and work another job for benefits and still, Pretty Paws has my heart. Thank you for following this journey with me! Thank you for the lessons and the continued support. Thanks for the shares, shoutouts, the small tokens of appreciation or just your kind words. Thank you for making all of this craziness, worth it! -Kyla

And if you made it this far, come see my daughter’s pig, Peaches, this week at the Lenawee County Fair! Also, if you get to the bandshell, let me know how you like the painted backdrop. I had 48 hours to pull it off😝

I haven’t Thanked my clients lately and I really want you all to know how much I appreciate the continued support over my 10 years!

The next two months I’m asking for understanding as my only child is graduating. I’m trying to be as present (with her) as possible and I’m taking more time off than normal. I have and will always continue to do what I can to help but I ask that if you need an appointment you make it ASAP and understand that I am not going to be as open or accommodating these next couple months!

Thank you for understanding.

This. This is what love and trust gets you. This dog does not let anyone touch his feet, but I can. He doesn’t like people in his face, but I can kiss his forehead and shave his ears. He lets me do whatever I want and I let him do the same. so today, for his last groom before he crosses over, I let him sleep when he needed while he let me cry.

I miss all my clients when they pass, I do, but I will always treasure this boy a smidge harder. 💜🐾

I love my job and the relationships I make just like mine and Maxwells.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.
Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
People will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a provider, family support, friend, spouse...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

Just a few reminders as we continue to survive this winter weather together!

Ideally, the best way to protect pets from extreme temperatures is to avoid long-term outdoor exposure. However, if pets have to be outside for longer durations, they need to have adequate outdoor shelter that allows the animal to escape the elements.

• Always use dry straw in outdoor enclosures. Blankets absorb moisture from body heat and freeze in cold weather.
• Never leave your dog or cat alone in a car during cold weather.
• Check under the hood of outdoor vehicles before starting them up. Stray cats often look for refuge in warm engines.
• Pets burn extra energy by trying to stay warm in the wintertime. Feeding your pet a little bit more during the cold weather months can provide much-needed calories. Ensure they also have plenty of water to help keep them hydrated and to prevent dry skin.

If you come across a pet in a life-threatening situation, please contact Lenawee County Animal Control at 517-263-0524. If you are not in Lenawee County, please contact your local animal control agency.
