BARC - Akron Dog Park
BARC is a non-profit volunteer organization that operates and maintains the Akron Dog Park
Akron Dog
Akron Dog Park is a non-profit operated dog park in Akron Ohio, that allows dogs to exercise and socialize safely in a secure fenced in space. Features include: free admission, year round operation, off street parking, secure double gated entry /exit, separate small dog and large dog spaces, fenced in grass and gravel terrain for running and play space, agility obstacles and doggie play equipment,
Just when you think you have met every cute dog at the Akron Dog Park, another one pops up. Akron Dog Park Family take a look at this pretty little lady!!!! I mean look at that face, those ears, her coat, I mean she is the whole package. Akron Dog Park Family meet Mia. Mia is a little timid so no sneaking up behind her. She is the sweetest little angel and most definitely her mama's baby. Mia and her mom, Jen (Chris), were out for a stroll at the ADP when I met them, enjoying the gorgeous weather we have been having. Get out to the Akron Dog Park soon before the weather has us putting on multiple layers. Be sure to say hi to Mia, Jen, and Chris and welcome to the Akron Dog Park Family.
Take a look at this beautiful face!!! I wouldn't be able to say no to that face ever. I could come home to a destroyed couch and all she would have to do is bat those eyes at me and I would end up apologizing to her for having a couch in her space. Everyone meet Melendez. She is a lover not a fighter and just looking to meet some friends. I caught her and her parents, Samantha and Mike, while they were on their way out of the park and I am thrilled I got to meet her. She is very calm and grateful that her mom and dad brought her to the Akron Dog Park. If your dog is looking to make new friends, bring them to the Akron Dog Park, they will meet a lifelong friend in no time.
Hello Akron Dog Park Family Members, I wanted to share with you all the pretty little lady that I got to meet at the Akron Dog Park. Everyone meet Violet! What do you think ADPF, was she named after the color or the flower? 🤷🏻♀️ ...hmmm I'm not sure. I didn't have time to ask her adorable parents, Lindsey and Nick, because I was too busy trying to get photos of her. Violet didn't want to sit still, which is understandable, she just wanted to play. My phone was not cooperating because it was getting dark out BUT have no fear, mom was there!! Lindsey turned on her flashlight app on her phone which helped me get these photos. As you can see, Violet has quite the personality. Come to the Akron Dog Park today and introduce your pooch to Violet.
On behalf of BARC I would like to take this opportunity to THANK everyone who came out to the Akron Dog Park for our annual Howl-O-Ween Trick or Treat and Costume Contest. What an absolutely beautiful fall day last Saturday.
A special THANK YOU to Dairy Queen (Treat) for your very generous monetary donation, Hollywood Feed - Akron Fairlawn for the amazing 'basket' donation, and Pet Supplies Plus - Fairlawn, OH for your generous gift card donation. Y'all's continued support at our events is overwhelming ❤️ and so generous.
A special THANK YOU to the local vendors that came out to support our event Lisa Bast owner of Waggin' Trails LLC

A special THANK YOU to Sue, 3rd generation owner of, North Canton Repair Shop and Greenhouse, for again generously donating ALL the pumpkins, mums, and bails of hay.
A special THANK YOU to our amazing photographer, Debbi Bollman. EVERYONE who got their picture taken will have the opportunity to get their photos. Debbi is going to upload them to a Google Drive folder and I will send out the link to everyone. The earliest the photos will be ready is in 2 weeks but please be mindful that this is Debbi's side hustle, she painstakingly edits EVERY photo. The pictures are high quality so they cannot be emailed.
A special THANK YOU to all of the volunteers that helped with this event, Katie Archbold from Girl Scout Troop 91442, Debbie Duke and her daughter and grandson, Amanda Gilliams, Michelle Dukich (BARC Secretary), Karrie Lutz , Noble Hopkins (BARC Treasurer) Vicki Peplin , and Hollie Randell.
A special THANK YOU to John Yarsa and his beautiful wife, from Wink, who won 2nd place in the costume contest but donated the Pet Supplies Plus gift card back to BARC so that it could go to someone in need.
Again another special THANK YOU to everyone who came out and participated in HOWL-O-WEEN. Thank you for the love you have for BARC - the Akron Dog Park and for your precious four-legged (sometimes 3 or 2-legged) fur family members.
BARC puts on these events so that Akron Dog Owners can have a dog park. The Akron Dog Park is THE ONLY DOG PARK IN AKRON. BARC members and some of our gracious family members completely maintain the park.
Posted with this message are just a few pictures which can be emailed if anyone wants theirs, just message us.

LITTLE GUY HAS BEEN FOUND AND RESCUED AND HOME SAFE AND SOUND.....
It is true what they say....when the cat's away the mice will play....in this case Wendy Hart is the cat and Little Guy is well the mouse but you all get it. Little Guy has had one heck of an adventure that left mom and aunt and a lot of BARC Akron Dog Park Family members on high alert. He was just checking out the sights and seeing what the city had to offer him. KIDS!!! What a little trickster.
THANK YOU Karrie Lutz, Michelle Dukich, Mark Schwerdtfeger and his wife and any other BARC Akron Dog Park Family who helped in the search for Little Guy.
Wendy I suggest keeping a tight leash on this little Bad A**. But man, wouldn't you love to know what all he got into or maybe not.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
WARNING ADORABLE PUPPY....I TRIED WARNING YOU
When this adorable little pooch isn't yelling at her husband Ricky or getting into mischief with her best friend Ethel she can be found at the Akron Dog Park with her family. Everyone meet Lucy. Lucy was very excited to be at the Akron Dog Park. I thank my lucky stars I was at the dog park at the right time because I had the privilege of meeting Lucy and her beautiful sisters, Sophia and Mia and their dad, Nick. Dad, Nick, is clearly way out numbered with his family of girls but he seems very happy to have it that way. Lucy had a great time meeting so many new friends at the Akron Dog Park that this place will no doubt be her second home. Lucy, Sophia, Mia, and Nick welcome to the Akron Dog Park Family.
ANYONE MISSING A DOG OR KNOW WHO THIS DOG BELONGS TO?
IF YOU DO CONTACT Karrie Lutz OR CONTACT BARC BY MESSAGING US ON FACEBOOK OR EMAILING US AT [email protected]
WARNING LADY DOGS, THE MAC DADDY HAS ENTERED THE AKRON DOG PARK
Akron Dog Park Family, I don't think it is necessary for me to tell you that this dog turned all the ladies heads but I am going to any ways. Everyone meet Mac, I instantly named him Mac Daddy because that is the vibe I was getting from him. He certainly isn't cocky, oh no, far from. Mac is a gentleman like his dad, Taylor. Mac is a charmer and a smooth barker. All the lady dogs stopped to watch him strut into the park, I kid you not, one put her paw over her eyes and fainted right then and there, that is how Mac affects the ladies. Don't even for one second think that Mac is going to try and mac (aka hump) on your dog because he is not, this Mac, like I said is a gentleman, Taylor raised him well. Taylor even told me he would be happy to be the chauffeur for your dog and Mac for their first date. Mac and Taylor, welcome to the Akron Dog Park Family.
ANOTHER FIRST TIMER!!!
........this little nugget was playing it calm, cool, and collected when he came strolling up to the Akron Dog Park for the very first time. Everyone meet Biscuit. Biscuit let me take a few photos of him but he then said, that's enough I want to go play now. Right then, at that very moment I had the pleasure of witnessing something beautiful. Two adorable little pups, Marley and Biscuit, both coming to the Akron Dog Park with no preconceived expectations. Call it what you want but they got to the park at the same time on the same day it was their first time at the park. Their puppy dog eyes met and a friendship was born. They wanted nothing to do with the other dogs in the dog park, they only wanted to play with one another. Mom, Melissa, (dad, Tim), have been Akron Dog Park members in the past but this was Biscuits first time. I think Marley and Biscuit are going to be best friends for life, what do you think?
ATTENTION EVERYONE, FIRST VISIT TO THE AKRON DOG PARK
I had the honor of meeting this little adorable nugget on his very first day at the Akron Dog Park. My fault for stopping him for a photo session on his very first day. Everyone meet Marley. Marley wanted me to get out of his way. He was not having time for a photo shoot. He wanted to get into the park, unleashed and set free. Marley was shy, anxious, scared, and full of energy. What a combo of emotions to have and then on top of all of that, have some lady stop you from getting into dog paradise because she wants your pic. Luckily for me, Marley has a wonderful and patient mom. Mom, Donna, (dad Jose), was trying to calm Marley so that I could maybe get at least one good pic. Marley was so excited to get inside that when he did he was a little scared. BUT luckily for Marley there was another pooch there for the first time walking up right behind him...........
WARNING ADORABLE DOG ALERT!!!
Look at this devilishly handsome little pooch. OMG he is just so stinkin' cute!!! Everyone meet Queso. I saw him play, and play, and play, and he remained white as can be. How is that even possible!! Oh wait, I forgot, that's right, when I said how is he so clean and white after running around this place, his mom Em said and I quote, "well he has a small grass stain on his paw." Now that is funny stuff. I laughed so hard. This very happy dog is so loved by his two mom's, Em and Melody, and now by his Akron Dog Park Family.
We have another Ginger in the Family!!! And I am not talking about the beautiful red heads of the world. I am talking about this gorgeous little lady. Ginger was a little camera shy so it took me a hot minute to get some pics of her but I personally just think she wanted me to work for her pic. You know what, maybe Ginger is a real red head, all the red heads I know are pretty sneaky.... 🤔. Well either way this little lady is adorable whether she is playing tricks on you or not. Ginger's dad, Chris, brought his baby girl to the park and was very happy to see her running around and making friends. Ginger was nervous at first but by the time dad said it was time to go, Ginger didn't want to leave. That sort of thing happens when you have a great place to be at like the Akron Dog Park. Ginger and Chris, welcome to the family.
BARC would like to take this opportunity to THANK some of our Akron Dog Park Family members for all the hard work that they have put in the last few Saturday mornings at the Akron Dog Park.
The Akron Dog Parks daily maintenance is performed by Akron residents. VOLUNTEERS are what keep the park a beautiful and safe place for our four legged family members.
Since September and up till his past weekend, VOLUNTEERS have taken their Saturday mornings (and into the afternoon) to help:
**plant 5 trees in the small dog park
**w**d and plant mums by the Akron Dog Park sign
**clean every poo waste can, mounting them, and lining them with a garbage bag
**moved stones from the small dog park to the large dog park. One of those weekends the stones were moved by just wheelbarrows and shovels. And then smoothed all out
**w**d wacked inside and outside the fenced area
**moved stones over the muddy areas
**moved stones over the grassy area that can't be mowed
**cleaned all the metal signs
**pulled thistle w**ds out by hand
**added more benches in both the large and small dog parks
❤️ A special thank you to Michelle Dukich for MAKING the new benches in the center of the large dog park. For purchasing, planting and maintaining flowers and mums in the planters and throughout the entrance area. For getting the trees for the small dog park.
❤️ A special thank you to Frank Fessler for PURCHASING more stones, HAULING THEM and helping to unload them. AND THEN going over to the small dog park and helping load his trailer a bunch more times and hauling the stones over to the large dog park to unload.
❤️ A special thank you to Jene Held for going to Lowe's to pick up our supplies.
The biggest THANK YOU and ❤️ to all of our volunteers for their help these last few weekends and ESPECIALLY for all the help on the biggest project this past weekend. To help make the Akron Dog Park safer during this season when it gets darker earlier BARC, VOLUNTEERS, and those that DONATED MONEY, BARC was able to purchase SOLAR LIGHTS. Some Akron Dog Park Family members, who are the greatest people, helped install the posts and lights this past Saturday. It is very important to BARC that our family members and visitors have a pleasant and safe time at the Akron Dog Park. With the lights it will now be safer after work hours during the fall/winter time of year.

I sincerely apologize if someone was missed off of this list.
As some may know I have a slight obsession with boxers, the dog breed not the guys/girls in shiny shorts that punch one another for sport, just to be clear. Some of you also may know that I had the most amazing boxer ever. So when I was walking by the large dog park and I saw this adorably handsome guy I fell in love instantly. Akron Dog Park Family meet Milo! Milo is full of energy and doesn't want to ever stop playing. If you have a rambunctious dog that needs to play well get that dog down to the Akron Dog Park today! All you need to do is introduce your dog to Milo, and that's it. In fact, you can take a load of and sit on a bench and take a little nap or maybe take time to meditate. Milo and your dog will be off running and playing. Be sure to introduce yourself to Milo's mom and dad, Celia and Tobey, they are the ones that have trained Milo into the well-behaved young boy that he is. Welcome Milo, Celia, and Tobey to the Akron Dog Park Family.

Anyone want to guess what this little guys favorite thing to do at the Akron Dog Park is? That is correct we have another ball enthusiast on our hands. Everyone meet Desmond and the pictures don't do him justice because he is strong and playful, goofy and shy, and he is fantastic at fetching you your slippers in the evening. Desmond will play with the other dogs in the dog park. He gets his time in with other dogs between throws. Desmond was so, so happy that his mommy, Marissa, brought him to the dog park. They typically come during morning but I was lucky enough to catch her on that rare occasion they come in the afternoon. If you see Desmond and Marissa at the dog park, be sure to welcome them to the Akron Dog Park Family.
Y'all we have a social media superstar in the family!!!! I was fortunate to be at the right place at the right time. I have never met anyone famous before and I wasn't sure what to do. I mean they say the famous are just like everyone else but are they really? To my surprise this social media diva was as down to earth as they get. Akron Dog Park Family meet Sky. You're probably thinking, "where have I seen that face before", it would be from Instagram sky__the__weim, go and check her out. When this beautiful creature isn't in the spot light she is living her best life with her mom and dad, Olga and Roman. Take a drive or walk to the Akron Dog Park today and say hello to Sky, Olga, and Roman today, and be sure to welcome them to the family.
LIGHTS PROJECT IS RESCHEDULED FOR THIS Saturday, October 19th at 9 a.m.
IF we can get enough volunteers BARC would also like to move some stones from the small dog park to the large dog park again.
