Today METRO RTA accompanied the through the 49th Annual East Akron Labor Day Parade on the new Vote Bus! Members of the Akron NAACP distributed voter registration information and other resources during the parade.

Did you know that in 1941, ridership increased exponentially during wartime. Akron’s street cars transported over 50 million passengers, setting a transit record.

This was due to gasoline and tire rationing, along with a halt in the production of automobiles.

🅿️ PARKING & SHUTTLE OPTIONS 🚌

Parking at the festival will be LIMITED! We recommend parking outside the footprint and either walking or hopping on Akron Metro route #1. Weekend rides are FREE all summer!! 🆓 Biking 🚴‍♀️ to the festival is also a great option!

Additionally, we have contracted again this year with United Disability Services, Akron, Ohio who will be shuttling around the festival for those who need it! See the map for pick-up and drop off locations. The shuttle will loop around the festival from 11a to 8:30p. This service is free and open to all, but please reserve space for those that are not able to walk to the festival on their own ❤️

"I was born in Bhutan. I moved in 2011. I lived in Seattle, Washington. I also lived in Buffalo, New York, for one year before coming to Akron in 2013."

"In September, I will have worked at METRO for four years. I love it, and I love helping people."

Ishor was asked what he likes to do for fun, "Travel. This weekend, I was in New York City."
